I just noticed this, but one of the new season two characters is here. There was a about 2 minutes long animatic shown for smiling friends at a comic convention and it had a fat guy exactly like the orange blonde fat character near the top right.
I'm just now realizing that the whole movement at 4:58 -- where he pushes his way through the door and then limps forward with the rifle -- is a direct homage to Die Hard. Making it yet another Oneyplays / Sleepycabin reference.
Also, this is yet another reason why I fucking love this show. So many in-jokes that would otherwise make no real sense to people who aren't familiar with the lore.
What amkes the show so good, is the uncomfortable atmosphere at all times, but the realistic conversations, like stuttering or someone accidentally confusing a response with a question
I like how his "Frowning Friend" counterpart is just another personality of his, and when it comes out to kill Grim, making someone sad (which goes against his main purpose for his job and life) he immediately makes a mental switch, not even freaking out and saying "dear God what have I become" he just rationally tries to calm Grim down, and even makes him smile.
I think Mr. Boss is gunna give us some subtle Charlie Brown references as the series continues, since not only did he dress up like him on Halloween, he also did his dance on the Frowning Friends' balcony
I actually like how he's genuinely a wholesome and funny guy, he's not like some fucking asshole who just runs the company and tells everyone what to do, he actually fits in like the other characters and I fucking love that
I love how he sometimes has 5 fingers and sometimes 4 fingers. Really shows how random the animation can be with their scenarios. It is like hellbenders plus oneyplays but an animation with a good story.
What a weird character: - gives off adult and deranged charlie brown vibes - is a very good boss that seems to enjoy simple things in life - despite that, he wishes that he thought of frowning friends before making smiling friends - hes not greedy, but its like "making money" is what gives him his sense of worth Its like he never connected his job to his passions and that made him completely bonkers since hes quite innocent at heart. That is so sad but I love it
I'm not sure about that. When he goes up to his thinking room he says "Frowning friends. Its genius, why didn't I think of that" I think he's just an entrepreneur who came up with the smiling friends.
@@HarrisonScottHisoandso Compelling evidence, but did you not also notice how for halloween he dressed up as *Charlie* Brown?
"Charlie, what does it mean?"

I just noticed that lmao
0:31 Zach's _"yeh"_ gets me every time

Good stuff
5:09 I like how nonchalant Boss was when he said he wanted to shoot Grim in the head and kill him. XD
Marc did an amazing job with this character, his humor just oozes with his performance! Such an incredible show, hopefully it gets a second season and even more.
I wish they'd make it more easily available outside the US. I had to pirate it
@@Alatris so did I. I’m in the us. I don’t have cable tv because it’s useless.

Glad that they didnt go with the old bad and loud screaming boss cliché.
@@MrCris2021 *cough* Benson *cough*
@@awsma_48 I wouldn't say that. Benson actually showed care and support for his workers. Sure, he was a hard ass, but he was genuinely a good boss who cared for his workers

What a bizarre character. He's batshit insane and frankly terrifying, but he seems to be a genuinely good boss.
I just realized that the amount of fingers he has is inconsistent
One of his many powers.
Seeing him angry about DDR absolutely got me
Mr. Boss made me smile in all his appearances.
There's a good reason he's the leader of the company.

@@yaboihuey5298 no it isn’t, he timestamped it right before he talks to the imaginary business execs in his office

Even though Mr. Boss is made out to be the weird, creepy old guy, he's probably one of my favorites with how innocent and genuinely caring he is.
1:03 say what you will about Mr. Boss, but at least he's truly invested in Smiling Friends' mission
The little details that are in this show just really give it a whole flavor of its own, like when Mr. Boss shouts "WAIT!" at Pim about the firewood, Pim is sorta taking deeper breaths with how caught off guard he is about it.
I’m not sure what it is about the “WAIT!” maybe the intensity or the randomness but it gets me every time
Why do people feel the need to praise every single aspect of this cartoon regardless of how small? It’s not at all that impressive
It's also probably a reference to that gremlo reminder video

*_Who are the
Renaissance Men_*
I dont know dude you know as much as I do
Renaissance men are just guys who are good at everything: painting, writing, solving proofs, archery, equestrianism, larping, killing.
Some weird obscure obsession either Zack or Michael have that we either forgot or they have mentioned a very long time ago back when Tomar still carried his prized Emeralds with him
@@andrewmeyer3599 I think it's just one of those random combinations of words that just pops into Zach's head such as "worm odyssey" that just disturbs him so much he has to share it with the rest of the world
They're not even from the Renaissance era
he's a wild card. completely unpredictable. that's why he's such a great character.

My husband literally said the same thing the other day. That he is fucked up version of Pops
And drank lead water
@@rustyshackleford3107 THATS SO TRUE
Bro, I didn't even think about that concept. You just blew my mind.
@@AlexanderShackles But are funny enough that they, for the most part, work by themselves.
@@meloncholy428 Exactly.
I'm pretty sure the brief exaggerated heavy breathing is also a reference to Zach's parody of terminator 2's bomb scene.
oneyplays invented die hard? sick
What amkes the show so good, is the uncomfortable atmosphere at all times, but the realistic conversations, like stuttering or someone accidentally confusing a response with a question
“really weird but still well-meaning character” has got to be one of my favourite tropes
Easily the most complex unit in this world of funny little characters
I think he cares more about money and the business then smiling or frowning. That's why he said "that's brilliant why didn't I think of that"
YOU *MUUUUUUUUST!*
3:22 it’s like he’s playing and than he stops and gets serious when he hears the other company and than goes crazy over it

No one can convince me that MeatCanyon wasnt on the animation team for Mr. Boss
MeatCanyon is a talentless hack
meatcanyon is a psychicpebbles ripoff
Few.
What a weird character:
- gives off adult and deranged charlie brown vibes
- is a very good boss that seems to enjoy simple things in life
- despite that, he wishes that he thought of frowning friends before making smiling friends
- hes not greedy, but its like "making money" is what gives him his sense of worth
Its like he never connected his job to his passions and that made him completely bonkers since hes quite innocent at heart. Stressing out about the price of stocks of his smiling company, not realizing how close it is to his real passion of smiling
The “sorry I’m back” cutaway is one of my all time favorites
