My parents are very supportive to my love and passion for Harry Potter, but growing up, I had to work hard for the books and movie VCDs because I am not from a rich family. I always had to have honors or be one of the top students in the class so that I would get them for rewards. Watching your videos don't make me jealous 😂, it makes me inspired and happy because it feels like I get to enjoy Harry Potter stuff through you. Whenever you have new books or merchandise, it feels like I get to have them as well. That's why I join your giveaways, taking my chances. I have my first job right now since I just finished college, I will save money for new HP books and stuff but as long as I am not stable yet, I'll take my chances to your giveaways 😂 More power and more HP related videos.

How do you remember which translation is which? Do you have them labeled? Especially when you pull them off the shelf! Keep collecting!!
I believe he said he has them in order and in that order he has them on typed on paper
Most of them I just know. But I do keep them in alphabetical order which makes finding them very easy. But if you held one up, I could tell you (98% of the time) what language the book is.

Interesting that with the Macedonian books, not only did the second publisher change to hardback, they also changed from the U.K. cover design, to the US cover.

How can you tell if a book is first edition? I love your collection and your passion for your collecting!
For American books, the original covers by Mary GrandPre are all first editions. The printing is what you want to look for. I did a video on that. :)

Great video. I love seeing all the different covers.
There is one translated version I have not seen and is considered rare here (Greece) as it was a collectors edition, leather-bound & only 3000 copies were printed back in 2007. It's of the Deathly Hallows and can be found for around 4-500e but sometimes someone does not know the collectors' value and drops it significantly.

Got a box set at Target on sale. On the first book. Not a fast reader, 2 and a half pages into chapter 6. Awesome so far. Wish most of the books were in the movies.
Meant to ask a while back but what website did you find the "old" British harry potter bookset? I would appreciate if you replied with a link to them as I am British but i cannot seem to find a set. Thanks :)
Eliza Dragonheart I found copies of “old” Harry Potter books and other translations on Abebooks (there’s a .com and a .co.uk site it seems)
Your best bet is eBay.co.uk. There are plenty on there.

Wow... I am a very casual Philosopher's Stone collector who mostly just grabs local translations when travelling. Have a copy of the first state first printing Czech edition that I bought in a used book shop in Prague about 4 years ago that I did not realize was rare. Not perfectly new unread condition, but still very cool and exciting!

Hey Peter! First off, I love this new series you are doing. Secondly, I have one question that's come up watching your videos . I've noticed that some in translations publishers have only released the first couple of books in the series, but the adverse is true of other translations. Why do you think that is? Surely as popularity grew with the series as well as the continuing releases of the adapted movies would drum up more demand. Is it something to do with the translation process alone? Did publishing houses simply run out of money while that process took place?
For some of them it is because there was not much of a demand for them. Most of the world seems to read English (as I have found from talking to people around the world). That has to be part of it. In the case of Greenlandic (and I am sure others) the publisher went out of business. I think it is different for all of the translations. Sad though! I'd love 1-7 for all translations!

I do have a question but its about the Fantastic Beast Empire (The New York Ghost) Book with video player in it. What are your thoughts and do you know much about it? Plus what would be the value on something like that. I heard only 5000 were made I have not been lucky in my research.

Quick question regarding the Urdu - different illustrators? The art work looks so different.
Same illustrations as the American books but they're coloring is changed a bit.

Actually All four Urdu Translations were Published in Both Paperback and Hard Cover form by Oxford Press.

Theyre rare here but in Indonesia they are somewhat easy to find second hand.

Can you make a video about fake Harry Potter books ? Now they are really common and if you didn't see original ones you can buy it and think it is authentic buy quality is really poor.And what about the first armenian edition, on Amazon it is worth to 600 bucks! I have 5 copies and never thought they are rare if so I will sell them.
No it isn't worth that much. You can still buy them on eBay for around $30. Sadly I don't have enough of the unauthorized editions to make a video... yet. :)
Anyway 4 copies each for 30 bucks is120 which is not so bad. Now I just need 4 buyers :)
