The best option is probably using your own, built by yourself theme/template. It is good to know what you are building inside out and generic themes/templates are often bloated. Building your own theme teaches you a lot. But sometimes life brings different situtations and you have to deal with them accordingly. I do believe and argue that people who are building of themes/templates are developers, perhaps a little lower ranks, but developers. Some like to call them website producers :) Another thing is Lord Stefan Mischook's three rules of code: Reuse, Reuse, Reuse. Thank you for your content, both here and Udemy!
If you are making a site on wordpress then of course use the basic theme as a basis, and customize it with a website builder. What I thought you were going to answer though, is if you use a theme like Astra, or Ocean and customize the site with an editor like elementor. Which is better, to use a pre-built theme, or use a free theme, and customize it. I would think that a pre-built theme would have cleaner code than a customized theme, but maybe I am wrong. I would like to know your opinion.
Great topic, and great content. Thanks for the video, looking forward to more! As a web developer learning wordpress w/elementor, I'm falling in love with how easy it is to work with and it covers pretty much 95% of what my day to day clients would look for in a website. I'd only code a custom one if the clients asked for some specific functionality that can't be recreated on wordpress!
I used to be a purist not anymore. I've coded umpteen bespoke WordPress themes whilst my clients are more than happy with the product the time and energy involved is ridiculous. I now use a basic skeleton theme and work from there. I don't want to waste my life writing bundles of code! :)
@@outpost31737 I agree 100%, you can worry less about boiler-plate things like the navbar/footer and really focus more on the content and the experience of the website. Definitely removes additional tedious work by having to start from scratch, am looking forward to learn more wordpress
Hmm... I love manual cars, and I prefer coding my websites by hand in HTML and CSS 🗿 Yes, initially it takes time, but after the majority of the work is done, you have something that's completely your own, and you can easily download your website and migrate to another web host.
manual transmissions are becoming obsolete. actually autonomous vehicles are working wonders.. however flowers will always be given to the ones that can shift gears, it’s just fast n furious came out so long ago, it’s old news now bro!! 💨🚀

@@Dylson Absolutely!
That car analogy was really good, also great video! I just discovered your channel and I’m curious to watch more content!
Thanks a lot for this valuable information bro!

It's true, sometimes a little extra effort up front can really pay off down the road.
I likes the comparaison. Thanks 😊
Thanks for the video.
Great advice 🙂
Nothing wrong with using a skeleton template. Time is of the essence usually and I don't have time to code everything from scratch.
Yeah a skeleton template works just great too
How long does it take to build a website with a template?
Depends
