For everyone struggling with the handle : After the first cast off you are working 56 stitches because you are working front and back together - 2 sides (28+28) so it's 28 lots of (k1p1), not 28 stitches total, or 14 repeats like the first part. You are working on 156 stitches (78 per side) so when you cast off 22, it leaves 56 total, which is 28 per side (or 14 repeats of k1p1) The breakdown is as follows: 28+22+56+22+28 = 156 In pattern terms ( k1,p1)14 , cast off 22, (k1,p1)28, cast off 22, (k1,p1)14 =156 stitches. When casting on for the handle, I would cast on with needles but when you come to work the first row of the handle, work your stitches into the back of the stitch, this gives a neat and stable edge, and it's how I usually work whatever I am knitting. If you can only cast on with the thumb method, do so as tightly as you can and then work into the back of the stitches for the first row of the handle, this will most likely leave a length of wool extra when you come to the work the top of the bag, don't worry, carry on and when you have finished the bag, go back and get a darning needle then work it in as you would join normally, if you have enough length - cut it in half, tie it off and darn each loose end in. Hope this helps!
Love the tutorial but I’m confused about the straps, the video ends before showing in detail how to do them. Tried twice and had to unravel. Anybody got any tips?
Hi!! Just wondering - could this bag be worked in the round so that there is just one seam along the bottom ? I have a thought process in my mind - guess I just need to try it
Wow the one you did as a sample looks perfect for small items like fruits and veggies. I am going to knit the big market bag I am planning to sell market bags and I will include it in the tag that the pattern came from Yarnspirations... But is it okay to knit a small version of this for small fruits?
Por qué no se explica el punto que figura en la presentación ?? Me gustaría tejer una bolsa igual, con el mismo punto. Y si es posible, con subtítulos en español. Gracias.
I'm having a problem with the make strapes k1p1 14 times cast off 22 k1p1 28 cast off 22 p1p1 14 times that adds to 100 sts but there are 56 sts left over. What are the 56 sts for?
What did was do a little math. If you cast on 150 stiches around the top with your new yarn then each side is 75 stiches wide. So if it tells you to cast off 22 stiches in the middle then knit 25 cast off and then knit to end of side.
The pattern is correct but I think what you might have done… After the first cast off you are working 56 stitches because it's 2 sides (28+28) so it's 28 lots of k1p1, not 28 stitches or 14 repeats like the first side. You cast on 156 stitches (78 per side) then cast off 22, which leaves 56 (28 per side, or 14 repeats of k1p1) The breakdown is as follows: 28+22+56+22+28 = 156 In pattern terms ( k1p1)14 , cast off 22, (k1p1)28, cast off 22, (k1p1)14 =156 stitches. Hope this helps!

Does it have to be in two colours or can it just be in one colour
This is a gorgeous market bag. Thanks for the tutorial.
Thanks for this great talk. I will watch it completely later.
Please next time talk about how to make your own subliminal.
This video was very confusing! I tried to follow but had a hard time.

I've put an explanation in a new comment, sorry it's late, but hope it helps.
Also who and what do you sew the sides with. Thank foe the help
Hi Linda,
You can sew it in with leftover yarn. Please see pattern for instructions.
Happy crafting!
Any way this project comes in crochet at all?

I was just thinking the same

Could some tell me how to cast off.
Hi Linda,
Here's a video tutorial on how to cast off in knitting: ua-cam.com/video/4IOCA80p-lA/v-deo.html
Happy crafting!
Where do you find the pattern? I want to make it bigger to be used as a bag to put beach sand toys in.
Can I knit this in the round too
I could not find the pattern
