@WeightlessFlex I play plenty of FPS on a controller lol. Now some older games have no controller support, MW2, MW3, Dead Rising 1 and 2, Devil May Cry 1-3.
What really annoys me is games we grew up playing split screen have no split screen option on PC. Left 4 Dead, early CoD, Borderlands etc.

Being a 90s kid I grew up with a PC in the house. I switched to PC from Xbox years ago. I didn't like paying to use the internet I already pay for. And trying to use the internet browser on console was a nightmare. The learning curve is there. But in my opinion it's worth it. I'll never go back to a console. You don't have to go overboard with a pc to have a great experience. Take your time pick what you want to meet your needs. Most of all gaming is all about the fun. Whatever platform you have the most fun with that is the answer.

I switched to pc and haven't regretted it. I have My main rig and a steam deck for most of my indies. This has simplified my decision to play on one ecosystem. Having to choose which system to play on was kind of annoying me since all games, for the most part, run better on my rig, so I didn't see the reason to game on my PS5. I know not everyone has this luxury, but ultimately it's so much nicer.

I play almost exclusively on Steam, no issues there about the games being spread out with me. They have a large catalog and most anything you will want or need. I just don't bother with other store fronts because I like everything to be together. I know what you are saying though, but I think if you do make the leap, you will likely neglect the other store fronts too. They are just there, some use them, and some have a few things Steam won't have, but it is few. You make a lot of really good points, sometimes I miss consoles. My pc is a bit dated and can't play a lot of newer games now, not to mention I have worn out and bought keyboards and mice, it gets pricey. Once I adapted to pc though, I never really looked back. I love older consoles ps3 and down, but the modern console experience does little to draw me in, still a lot of love for consoles, especially Nintendo with the Switch being a unique exception. Ask around with your console friends and chances are they may have delved into pc already too, if you need them to play with. I totally understand that, I mostly an independent player, untied to others, but I would have a hard time disconnecting from players I know, etc. Learning keyboard and mouse is a small barrier that gets easy to get used to fast. Actually I am so used to it that I struggle anytime I try to use a controller now, even on the Steam Deck, my thumbs just are not able to handle the analog sticks as well now. Anyways good luck, and enjoy whatever path you go. Game on and keep on keeping the debate Zen, some people can't and that is a shame.

I think it’s important to bring up that just because nobody does something doesn’t mean you can’t. Get a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse just to control the pc from your couch. A tv lunch stand is great for it to rest on, then just use steam big picture. Big picture mode is essentially the same as the steam deck. Steam input allows for you to custom bind anything to a controller so you can actually play more games on a controller on pc than console. I’m not sure if you knew this but you can launch non steam games from steam if you really wanted to.

Even before the start of the video, I bet myself the comfort on couch vs monitor and desk would come up. It's not the 2000's anymore, plus your PS5 is taking up as much real estate as a tower pc would. And the controller argument isn't worth discussion when blue-tooth is always an option. Just know, these arguments always fall to the wayside in the end. I sometimes think it's some kind of personalized guilt trip for some for red-pilling the console space and breaking orbit. Once the console shackles come off, the realization of the true freedom of gaming becomes clear.

I play pc on my tv with a controller all the time. I never use a keyboard and mouse if it can use a controller. The official xbox adapter supports 4 controllers with the one adaptor and its more stable than blutooth. You can use steam big picture or playnite or launchbox for the full screen interface with a controller. Theres display fusion which is what i use for swapping between the monitor or the tv in the office or the living room tv which are all connected directly. Also if you want to own things theres gog and piracy lol. I pirate games i buy so i have a drm free copy thats also portable. Any drm free game that is installed is totally portable other than the save files which have to be manually transferred but the game still creates new saves automatically if you copied it to a new machine. PC is its own thing and it can be made to do about anything.

I'm Gen X, my first console was pong, I've had a lot of other consoles after that and moved to PC after PS1. A few months ago I retired my 11 year old gaming rig and it still had better specs than a PS5. With shopping smart and upgrading gradually i kept it alive for cheap. I could reuse my GPU in my new rig and am safe for the next 6-7 years with lots of room for improvement to keep it alive after that. When I'm interested in a game I put it on wishlist and buy when its on sale, I spend maybe 200-300$ a year on games and got a massive backlog in my library. I got GTA 5 for 15$ and RDR 2 for 30$, I played the Switch port of RDR 1 in an emulator in 1440p and 60fps. At least half of my playtime is on Indiegems not available on consoles, not to mention the modding scene. I also use the PC for photo-, audio- and videoediting and manage my musiclibrary. With all the money I don't have to spend on subscriptions, overprized games and new consoles I could easily afford a PS 5 controller, a massive beanbag and a beamer. Actual consoles are underspeced and overprized PCs and their OSes are designed to wall you in and rip you off. Move to PC, you won't regret it

Hey that's nice of you to taking a step and going to try a new frontier, PC gaming is not per fect it has it's own problem. But now the community is stronger than ever almost any problem is solve either by community or the dev in a really short time frame. It might be hard at first but when you get comfortable with it, it really easy to setup multiple way to play games.
For example you wanna play from the couch no problem controller support is there hdmi 2.1 is already on most new gpu except for the lowest end. you want to connect a third party controller to match your game like a flight controller that's good too. Or if your game have couch co-op like older game, Steam have these amazing feature that allowed you to do that with your buddy across the world.
One thing I like to point out is the cost of getting into PC gaming, Yes it's expensive when you see PC enthusiast throw around $1000 like it's nothing. But actually you can start way lower with a nice budget build now that there is DLSS and FSR upscaling 4k 120hz are more accessible than ever. something like amd 7800xt or 4070ti super is a nice investment and absolutely future proof.
There are many many more scenario and way to enjoy PC game. like for me I can remote my PC from my IPAD to download a game even before I arrived at home(or if I'm too lazy I remote just to change youtube video when I'm on my bed 2 meter away LOL).
But hey console has it's own advantage and I would love for more people to love gaming and not a platform. For now I stick with my Indies game on Steam which is cheap and a lot of fun to play with.

i get your points and that leap to pc can be quite overwhelming and even scary to some degree especially if you consider the time and investment in the hobby itself so that jump shouldn't be underestimated. I switched to pc at the end of the xbox one/ps4 lifecycle around a year before the xbox series and ps5 came out. Have been playing on console since i was 5 and am 26 now so around 16 years of only console experience but i personally am very happy with the switch to pc. I got a pc that is a bit stronger than the current gen consoles for 1440p ultrawide gaming so i did keep my ps4 and series s when i got my pc but i couldn't use them properly since i have also gotten a ultrawide monitor so i eventually switched over completely. I was hooked to the extra amount of screen space and i have a hard time going back to 16:9 at this point (my monitor is 21:9).
Controller support is essentially the same as console.. so basically any game that you can play on console with a controller (with the exception of exclusives of course) will also support controller on pc and to a certain degree a pc like the steam deck can basically emulate a controller into any game even if doesn't support controller.. Quite fascinating since i got my steam deck oled at the beginning of this year and it might be a good way to get into pc gaming without losing your comfort if you don't have a comfortable pc gaming setup yet. I don't think a full on switch is necessary so don't go all in afterall pc gaming is not for everyone even though people come up with this pc master race crap and it being "the best way to experience games" and yes to a degree that might be true due to it's almost limitless nature but unfortunately that also takes away from the comfort of not worrying too much about tech, upgrades and so on.. complexity and options doesn't necessary make life easier and sometimes it's just nice to not care and worry too much about it.

don't do it just mod your consoles - PC has very high maintenance and compatibility issues with OS - Consoles keeps it simple to play video games by turning it on and playing the game with controller in hand. The experience will never be the same turning on a PC login closing emails and notifications etc and boot up a game through steam or epic games etc. Consoles are easier to organise gaming nights and friends can bring their controllers over and have a great time playing your favourite games - if a PC costs $3000 just imagine the amount of games you could buy with that money. - Consoles removes having shitting windows running in the back ground - consoles is more family friendly nothing beats having your son or daughter playing a console game together more memories

I find the debate "PC vs Console" to be useless. They're options, for different needs, that's it. It's not about "what's better" (spoilers: nowadays they both suck). If you want convenience, you get a console. It's cheaper, it's great for kids, you plug it in and that's it. If you want a more powerful rig, that squeeze the shit out of your games, and if you want to tinker with your games, you get a PC.
Or at least, IT WAS like this, before both consoles and PC started requiring access to the internet, day one patches, incomplete files on discs or no discs at all. These are the real problems, not keyboards, controllers, achievements and chairs used. Today, you can use a controller or a mouse+ keyboards on both, PC and console. I know a lot of people that hook up their PC's to a TV (they use it just for gaming and movies). You didn't find a lot of kids that were playing on a PC, 30 years ago. Kids used to play on consoles. A console was way cheaper than a brand new PC, and more child-friendly (didn't have an internet connection and most games were toned down as far as mature content goes). It was also great for family and friends to sit on the couch and have some fun.
PC's, on the other hand, were for another audience entirely. They were more expensive, those who bought them, used them primarily for working and less for gaming. Also, PC games were for a more mature audience, you could access the internet (I still believe that's a bad thing for children), and required you to sit in fron of a desk. Have you seen 2 people cramped around a keyboard, trying to play something (Mortal Kombat 4 comes to mind) ? Wasn't fun. Of course, LAN gaming became a thing eventually, but that was years later, but that required for you to either have more than one PC in your house, or having cables dangling to your neighbours.

My number 1 reason for switching from my PS3 to PC back in 2013 because I wanted to use the mouse and keyboard for games, and the PS4 was underwhelming spec-wise (we waited 7-8 years to finally go from 720p to 1080p, but the PS4 still struggles at 900p a lot of the time). I did bought a PS5 just for 4K HDR Blu-Ray and streaming but there is no reason for me to go back to playing games on a console anymore (apart from Persona Dancing games which is still exclusively on PlayStation).

I game on PC because I don't see the need for a console these days. Years back I'd always have both but the Xbox 360 and PS3 era was the last time I felt the consoles were unique.
Xbox GamePass means I can play every new Xbox release and Sony might take two years but even their games are coming to the PC now. I have a low end PC connected to my TV just as a GamePass system, it's essentially an Xbox.
When consoles gave up the put in a game and play aspect, they just became hardware locked PCs.

I play my PC on my TV, which also has my consoles hooked up to it. Before this current setup I had 4 screens, 2 for my PC and 1 HDTV for my modern consoles and 1 CRT for retro consoles. I wanted to simplify my setup and streamline it, sold a lot of my retro stuff that didn't get much play, that I can and sometimes do emulate on my PC with better graphics and framerates, and I got an OLED TV and a monster gaming PC. One screen now, feels a lot smoother. Games that need a controller, or games that I just like better with a controller, I can and still do it.
IMO, go to PC, or at least get a rig that's MORE powerful than a PS5/Xbox Series X. If your PC isn't going to outclass the consoles, its not worth it, unless you play some specific genres that are just better on PC like RTS or MMO or w/e else.
Also, get an OLED TV if you don't have one.
Made this comment about after 8 minutes of watching, I also have a large physical collection. I miss big box PC games, I actually started getting some of my favorite PC games from Ebay just to have them on my shelf. Games like Command and Conquer, Starcraft, Bioshock etc. Very few games still even have a case you can get, usually just the AAA games like Elden Ring and CyberPunk 2077 and even then its just a download code inside the box.

    • @TheWitch297
      @TheWitch297 2 місяці тому +1

I say yes and no to getting a system more powerful than the consoles. while its nice to have, it isn't necessary. For example, a 3060 is just a little weaker than the PS5, however due to a lot of games having a locked framerate on console, the 3060 will pull ahead in framerate. Most console games also don't have to option to turn off dynamic resolution scaling. spiderman 2 in performance mode for example, the resolution is as high as 1440p, but can drop as low as 900p to maintain a certain framerate. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it does result in worse image quality versus playing on a 3060 at 1080p or 1440p. the resolution will never change if u dont want it to. with console you dont have that option, at least for the 60fps mode.
Then you have access to DLSS which is superior A.I. upscaling to the console's own upscaling technique, and DLAA which is better than typical TAA found on consoles. this all further increases image quality over consoles, even on a 3060 which is objectively a little weaker than consoles. So there's benefits to even getting a weaker PC than the consoles. Also important to remember that you not only have access to PS5 games, but Series X and switch games if you want to emulate them. on top of older consoles, Steam, GOG and etc. so PC will have far more access to games than any one console will have too.

It is a deliberate tactical move on the part of publishers to make PC a second class citizen. They do this so they can milk their cash cow of console gamers first, before going to the more discerning group that is PC gamers.
Console players are killed with conveniece but your options go out the window too. People playing games on PC tend to wait for games to be on sale, or more specifically on Steam because it guarantees our rights of ownership more solidly than the publishers platform. 'The Crew' couldn't happen on Steam... I'm pretty sure valve would sue Microsoft for that.
Take a look at GoG Galaxy I think we're in the same place headspace wise and this has been a good reminder that if you don't fight for it with your wallet, they'll take it away.

i've had my pc for about 4 years, and in the last 2, with my newborn son, i couldn't leave my laptop out, its a decent gaming laptop, so i use wireless m&k, hdmi out to tv, and i can cuddle up with my son using controller playing elden ring dlc, dragons dogma, kerbal space program, it really handles like a console running windows. i also hate those pc chairs, the idea of sitting at a table alone, and it really isn't hard to watch video's on netflix, tab over and play baulders gate 3 with a mouse. some games like RTS is nice having a keyboard option. but almost every game supports controllers these days! for me, the biggest downside, is it was about the same price as my series, playstation, and switch put together! but i use it way more now, and if a game is coming out on all 4, i go for the steam version first. often you get the patches first, mod support, don't have to pay for online services. sorry for the book. but as a recent trans console person, i figured i'd tell you, 4 years in, but 2 years maining pc, i could go back, and do, but only for the exclusives.

PC is seeing more games demanding to monitor your browser interactions when youre not playing the game, and playing online on consoles is getting pricier because they force bundle it with other services. Im often going between my PC with GOG and steam, PS5 for some newer games that ask those sketchy things, and my switch with its fun exclusives. Not paying for my consoles online though, at least PS5 offers free online weekends which is nicer than nothing. Problem with physical media is that if your house catches fire, guess what all that media is gone, and a house catching fire is a hell of allot more likely than steam ever shutting down, and also if steam does shut down there are fail safes in place to allow you to still buy and access the games you got so that valve can avoid lawsuits, also you really should have done more research on steam, achievements and trading cards are more than just showing off, you can trade and buy in the market for REAL money, you can also use your achievements to upgrade your profile by getting steam cards and creating gem packs, so its more than just "trophies" like on console.

Firstly I love this subject. You’re not wrong in what you like and how you want to play your games. But I do have some points to make, some of which you touch on.
You can pretty much use all console controllers on pc.
PC games are too spread out and console games are walled gardens. Is that basically what you said? Because for me that’s actually a huge benefit. Who wants to be in a walled garden and dictated to?
Server based games like The Crew will stop working on both physical and digital.
One eco system is why I turned my back on console and went to pc. Games on pc will be backwards compatible, which has always been a problem on console.
Cost of games on console is a BIG negative for me. PC ports always seem to launch cheaper and keeps reducing in price from there.
Having said all this you make some great points for console gaming. For me the speed of launching a console game hands down is a win.
Aren’t trophies now on pc? I think Sony flicked that switch recently on Steam. Achievements work on pc game pass.
I have a gaming pc, which can obviously do a lot more than a console. Aside from generally browsing and creative apps I like to do emulation and I also have a vr headset. Meta Quest 3 to be more specific. It’s great being able to use the headset as a stand alone but also wireless connect to the pc for a different experience.
Essentially it comes down to how people want to play. If you want a vanilla and easy experience then console is the way forward. If you want to customise your experience and leave yourself open to other opportunities then it’s pc.
Great video. Sorry for the unstructured rambling. I’m rocking my daughter to sleep and watching/typing on my phone 😂

Also, VR gaming. PSVR 2 barely has any of the VR games that I play, and while the psvr2 gets some games, It doesn't get most games.
A vr headset for pc can go around 100$ or less used, or 200$ new. while the only supported option you have on console is around 400$+
And alot of the games I play just aren't available on console. simulator games, rts games, games highly dependent on modding like Arma, Squad, Assetto corsa, gmod, gta RP, Age of empires.
I would not enjoy gaming nearly as much if I hadn't lived through all those goofy moments on RP servers in those games pretending to do a goofy accent and playing a character in a server of other people trying to do the same thing. Or racing toilets on my racing wheel in VR with other people on a toilet bowl map, Or play a simulator multiplayer Star wars battlefield game through a squad mod
Another advantage is if you do your research, and build your own PC, you can get away with saving so much money, a rig with an rtx 3060 will cost you around 650$ and run better than a ps5. Which I mean yeah its more than 500$. but you're excluding the 60$ a year cost for using your own internet. and in the long term you're gonna be saving so much more money. and if you already had a pc, you can transfer all of your storage over, and save even more money.
Building a PC is very affordable compared to buying a prebuilt, which are usually scams

"Come on, nobody does that." ummm says who? You? I use my PC on a 4K LG OLED TV connected via HDMI and I use a Xbox controller for all my games. I never play with mouse and keyboard. You can use controller with almost every game out there. Considering how you are coming from a console, for you specifically, every game you play on PC will have 100% native controller support. The only games that won't have it are games not on console like WOW for example. Clearly, you're not playing that anyway on a PS5. So there is no loss there for you.
You have a valid point on trophies. I felt the same way when I switched to PC. But eventually, you just kind of get over it. Also, you learn to appreciate Steam Achievements. But overall, valid point.
Physical media. I get what you mean. But let's be honest here. Physical media is all but dead regrettably. Even the physical versions of the games you have do not have the complete game. That is why you have to install day 1 patches on every new game. So you don't own the game as much as you might think you do. "I like to own what I purchase." Yeah we all do. But the reality is you don't. Those physical games behind you do not have the full game. Part of the game is on the disc and the other part is stored digitally in the cloud on Sony servers.
    Ease of use
Fair point. Consoles are meant to be plug and play. They are meant to be for the general non-techy audience out there. So yes, consoles are easier to use and to understand. But just because something is easy, that doesn't mean you should do it.
    Negatives for consoles
    - less power
    - less backwards compatibility
    - You have to pay to play games online. You do not have to pay to play online on PC. If you care about money, this should matter to you.
    - Exclusives. If you want exclusives, you now have less and less as Sony is porting more and more games to PC. But you are still missing the exclusives from PC and Xbox. If you have a PC, you get access to PC games, Xbox games, and now some PlayStation games with more incoming.
I think you should just try it. Go for you. Give it an honest try for 2 weeks. I think you will be happy.

As I say, don't put all your eggs in one basket. Both consoles and PCs have issues that prevent me from really solely stick to one, but if I had to, it would be consoles.
I speak as a person who has had 25 years of it being a crapshoot if games on PC work fine or if there is some issue I need to tinker around with. If there is a console game I haven't gotten to, it's because of a backlog. For PC, it's either a backlog or because something happened that kept me from playing it.

Hmm I feel the opposite. A lot of PS games are coming to PC now and the ports have been really good, The Last of Us was an exception but it seems fixed now. Ghost of Tsushima runs great on launch for me, 4K at 120+FPS with HDR on an OLED monitor, it looks stunning. Same with Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted 4 on PC, one of the best 4K HDR 120+FPS gaming experience I have.

I would encourage you to do some research on what PC gaming is like today because much of what you said isn't true anymore and hasn't been for like 10 years. If you just simply like the PS eco-system, physical media, and trophies that's totally fine, but many of the arguments against just simply are not true anymore. Can you plug a PC into a TV and play on the couch? Yes, with your setup since the PC is pretty close you could just run a dual monitor setup. You don't need to tinker if you don't want to, modern games know your setup and the default settings are usually fine. Updates are normally semi automatic like consoles. You like RTS games, well there's a ton of keyboard / mouse options made for using on the couch. You can use your PS5 controller or just about any other controller you want on PC if that's what you want. PC ports are not usually bad, there are bad ones but it's not that common.

I highly recommend that if anyone gets a PC. Don't do budget, save yourself a good 2k. And buy premium,it will last longer, and you will get the premium gaming experience. you won't regret it

As a PC gamer that played on consoles (NES, SNES, PS1, PS2, 360, PS3) from when I was a kid in the early 90s to 2007/8 when I started to transition to PC gaming and never considered going back.
I completely agree with all your concerns and points.
All your issues with PC gaming are real issues and I wouldn’t try and argue with any of them.
The only pros I would have added for PC is game sales are better and aiming with a mouse is more accurate and intuitive (once you get used to it).

Like is your PC ready for console ports, you need to update hardware or build a whole new rig every 4 years.
Gpus are ridiculously expensive these days another reason to just chill with a console it just works no need to tinker with nonsense like Windows 10 or Windows 11 or API's or bios or overclocking, undervolting.

The thing is, PC can be everything you want it to be. You can use a controller on the majority of games. You can stick to one launcher such as Steam (which I do personally). You can game on your tv if you want. You're not limited by any means. As far as the "tinkering" goes, I've had two games total since I started gaming on pc in 2017 not work for some reason or another, so that's rarely an issue. If you're running older games typically the easiest fix is running them in compatibility mode.
All that said, the lack of physical media on pc will definitely detour you. There is now trophy support for PlayStation games on pc, Finally, game quality across the board has dropped massively since the PS2 era. Ever since developers have been able to drop online patches, publishers are rushing games out more and more and having the developers patch it later. The biggest issue on pc is the stupid UE4 shader compilation stutter, which could be prevented mostly if developers added a shader compilation download at the beginning of the game. Still, not enough to detour me from pc though lol. Console is a great price to performance value, but the flexibility that pc offers is what does it for me.

Also most players use controller for games on pc, like i use xbox controller mostly 95% time i find its less majority which use mouse/keyboard as main for pc gaming.

This "most people don't hook PC on tvs" is so dumb. So what if YOU do? What anyone else has to do it with it? Look too nerdy? Well, having a lot of games and consoles on display is not hot either, way less I would argue. A nice, robust black case without lights is as manly this can get.
Controllers can be used without cables for ages. Mouses and keyboards too, for those moments where you may need to insert passwords etc. PCs dont need to be shutdown and even then, wouldnt take more than one minute from boot to start a game if on a SSD.
Trophies are just JPGs. You can store your entire playthroughs on UA-cam, Twitch, your drives etc.
Bugs, drivers etc are mostly a non-problem if your PC is not old as F*. Even pirates don't have headaches.
ANd best of all: PC is a live platform. It's constantly evolving its capabilities. New functions, New software, New emulators, New peripherals. New everything, thanks to it openess. Even if a guy just want to play games on it, he will have more than 90% of EVERYTHING VIDEOGAME RELATED EVER ON A SINGLE DEVICE.
It's on a whole another level. You guys need to actually experience what is PC gaming on 2024, mostly of your assumptions would fall hard on the ground.

Listen, you are not at all up to date with what is happening in the PC gaming world, all the shortcomings you mentioned about the PC no longer exist, BRO we are in 2024 not 1990... driver update can be done automatically in the background double click the mouse and play I don't understand what you are talking about at all? Obviously if you want to get the best optimization out of your graphics card then you can play at infinite settings, of course if you want. One more thing, it's really not true that there are no problems on the consoles, you probably forgot quickly what happened to the CP2077 game on the consoles. Playing on the couch is really unhealthy! And there is nothing that will prevent you from continuing to play on the couch with a PS5 gamepad on the PC even though there is no substitute for a mechanical keyboard and a gaming mouse! Even games that require a gamepad, I enjoy it more on a keyboard and mouse, in any case the PC does not limit you, choose what is convenient for you. I also don't understand why you want everyone to have the same hardware and gaming experience? It's like asking why all the people in the world have to have the same car? Don't you want choice, competition, variety?
In terms of price, the console costs more than $500 if you include the online payment and the more expensive games from the PC. A gaming PC can also be assembled for $1000 that will give a much better gaming experience than PS5.
Bottom line, today a gamer has nothing to look for on PS5 because Sony currently has no games at all for the future, only third party... sad but that's the truth. One last thing, mods how is it possible without mods in games it breathes more life into games.

That not mentioning on pc you have full control of all your hardware and software. You can use literally any controller on pc but alot of people use mouse is because it's waaay more accurate for fps than a controller would ever be. Yet you can still just plug in a controller n it works immediately without having to do anything. It auto reads not matter the brand or console it came from.
