Frank Gambale is a guitar hero who unfortunately is still only known in guitarist circles!!!
It was his modes no more mystery that made me who I am today & that was via a VHS video cassette (if you have children explain it too them!!!) In 1990 that made it all click for me!!!!!!

I remember one day, in the eighties, my school mate invited me to his place, we were both aspiring guitarists, music freaks, totally in love with music and musicianship (still to this day). He put on this record he discovered, the first album by Frank, and I fell in love with fusion. I went to the store and I found A present for the future, which was not the same album, and at first I was disappointed, ... but later at home .... ; ))) I discovered I had been luckier than him. Fantastic music we grew up with. Thanks Frank!

If memory serves me right Mr.Gambale got a full scholarship at G.I.T at age 15, the youngest ever, on the merit of his newly developed technique " economy picking ".The man is a beast.
He kicks a thousand asses on the guitar! Oh, my god! I love this fuidity and dexterity with his sweep picking. It's real smooth and seamless.
This is a Giant, playing gorgeous guitars , but his Talent is above every possible guitar change...

I grew up mostly listening to pop and rock music in the 80’s, but I loved Franks unique style and sound when I heard it. Those fluid lines were often beautiful and amazing. They still are.
I wish I could of studied with Frank Gambale to incorporate some of his unique style into my own more when I was younger. His swept lines were different than what was the common often heard guitar leads. He is far to underrated as a musician. Great inspiration for any guitarist who is looking to play lesser explored sounds and ideas.

Great to hear some of those great 80's and 90's tunes and see the old guitars used on them. Like FG I'm primarily a Carvin player these days, I still have a couple of Gibsons that I love and play fairly often. Always remember where you came from...

Like me years ago, and many new hotshots today, you will be looking at Franks fingers with all the WILD stuff he plays, not only does he do that easy, but, the stuff you are all missing, is his effortless note choice at speed over chord changes. VERY few guitar players with hot chops today are anywhere near this level of mastery. Scott Henderson, definitely Brett Garsed, ALAN Holdsworth, and a lot more I haven't put in. But with thousands of hot players, nothing soothes my mind like REALLY great players. I love all levels of playing too, so don't get me confused with snobbery.

Frank has been quoted as saying "The way to separate the pro's from everyone else is to have them solo chord changes. You either sound like a pro or you sound like shit, that simple."
I view all the great's as having great brain functions. The rest are just tools to them to express themselves. It's not the guitar per se!

Good golly. There's good, then there's there's awesome and then there's Frank. His musicality exceeds his impressive technical accomplishment, which in addition to being a high compliment in his case is, I think, the reason it is pure pleasure to listen to him. Love his composition equally. That last tune reminds me so much of the Dregs.
I have been a fan since 1990 but I never attempted to learn sweep picking because it seems to difficult but I wish I had the money to take your course because I know that you are the Real Deal, The Originator and One of the Greatest Guitarist Alive and yet a noble and humble human being !!!
JOSH CINTRON just watch his older vids from the 80s on sweeping, I only started taking it seriously as, like you I was just intimidated by learning it properly. Trust me though, it's not too late, in the past week I've made leaps and bounds on the technique just going through franks old chops/sweep videos.
