These drills are so good and the way you explain is really something that I can relate to. I have used your drills to change my game. I can crunch all my clubs and the most amazing thing is, that I don't hit the ball very hard (relatively). I play very controlled, with great accuracy and still long! And the impact sound is complete different now than it was before. When I hit ball on the range people stop and watch because of the impact sound! THANKS ADAM
Hi Adam. I watched this video this morning and then went straight to my indoor driving range facility (Old blanket on a washing line strung across my garage) :) and started to practice. This feels so good! I was aware of the need to compress the ball and I have been working on this for some time with progress being made, but this exercise really works a treat. Thanks so much.
Thanks, I'll give that some thought. There would be a number of variables, surroundings/acoustics, club speed, type of ball and club etc, so it would be challenging Best, Adam
Love your videos and the simplicity of your approach. Thanks for keeping us inspired to continue on the path of improvising our game during these times
I just played a round, trying to get my hands out in front. Your video filled in all the missing information needed to really compress the ball correctly. You're the best, Adam!
Great video Adam, my swing coach had previously advised my to wrk on compression so this really helps! My question is I can see this is reasonably easy for a small pitch like shot but how do I then work this in to the full swing and at full speed ?
Thanks Dean It’s really creating a feel on the small shots, then trying to carry that feel to full ones. Keep mixing between mini and full shots Best, Adam
Love your videos. I learn a lot from you. Q, I just found out I need a new hip on the left leg. Will that change my swing regarding the hips? Thanks you again for your videos.
Hi, are the offset clubs easier to hit square? Would they really help to have your hands in front of the ball when you make contact with the ball? Sorry to bother. It is just that I tend to hit and start my downward swing with my right hand/arm. Jorge 12 hdc, but I tend to hit the ball on the top..
Jorge, Offset clubs are designed to 'kick' the clubhead at the bottom, giving more loft and draw bias. However, it only makes a slight difference, and wouldn't;t help with an early release. All the best, Adam
I notice you are not taking a divot. I have a hard time taking a divot. Is it OK not to? One more question. If I hear that satisfying thwack sound at impact, does that indicate the ball was well struck?
Glenn, Thanks. Mediterra has dense, lovely turf, it's possible to get a good strike and not take a noticeable divot. Different clubs (and balls) produce different sounds, but yes, you can tell the sound of a nice hit. All the best, Adam
Thanks. With the handle forward you'd reduce the bounce. The turf at Mediterra is pretty nice and dense, unless the ground gets whacked pretty hard there is not much of a divot. All the best, Adam
Hi Adam, wondering if you could help me. I can hit my driver and my irons pure and straight, but for some reason struggle with my 3 wood and hybrid, constantly hitting them low and with a small slice. Any ideas? I’ve tried all sorts
Maybe try moving the ball a bit back not so forward in your stance and slowly increase the length of the backswing till you find that sweetspot? Helped me a ton along with a lot of Adams videos. I just shot my first 81!
You have a very model like swing, which gives me something to try and emulate. Specifically the way your hands stay in front of the club head thru impact. Obviously that makes for good impact but your swing looks great.

Scratch Golf Academy I really thought you might be on a green for a second. 😉 I need a tip for losing height in the backswing it’s so weird because I can’t feel I’m doing it but on video it’s several inches of dip on backswing. Cheers and stay safe!!
No golf instructor since Adam and Eve has ever explained what “compression” is. They waste their time demonstrating body and hand position but “nuttin” about what’s happening at the ball. Why don’t instructors start at impact and work backwards? What does it look like from a worms eye view when a 7 iron “compresses” the ball? Can you explain why the divot is past the ball and not under it?
I love the language and style of instruction here. No wasted words, clear message, easy to follow. I love the mental imaging idea. Awesome
Thanks very much Greg

Great tips Adam! Thanks, great to see you at Mediterra. Doug from Charleston.
Thanks Doug, nice to hear from you.

Good drills! Will try!
Hope it goes well Jon
Great video and instructions
Thanks very much Robert

Thanks Adam. The point on using the trail hip ( and the trail obliques) is key towards compressing the ball.
Thanks for the comment.

Hello, please make a video on how it sounds when the ball compressed vs normal chipping. Does compressing produces a rough and low sound?
Thanks, I'll give that some thought. There would be a number of variables, surroundings/acoustics, club speed, type of ball and club etc, so it would be challenging

Very helpful!!

Great! This ought to fix a few things.
I’ve tended to slide towards the ball instead of the target.
Best of luck with it Michael.
Thanks, Adam
I can do these at home!
Thanks Adam

Hard to say regarding your hip, I imagine the healing is different for different people. Best of luck with it.

Hey Adam, which brand/model irons are you currently using? Do you still play the X2hot woods?
Jack,
I have Titleist stuff now. X-2 irons, and the woods they gave me a year ago.

Just found your channel, subbed!

Thanks for the advice. Early right hand release if my common mistake.

Declan,
I'm afraid it's hard to say without seeing you swing. To me it sounds like more of a club fitting issue though.

How does this differ with the woods and driver vs the irons... Mike
Mike,
Same overall principles, but when you want to sweep the ball more (woods) you play the ball farther forward.
Hope this helps.
Best, Adam
I practice these drills every night while watching tv and hot a plastic practice ball against my back door. One day I'll master this
Glad to hear it, hope you break through.

So much to learn, so little time.
Hope you make good progress.

I’m pretty sure I’ve putted on greens that weren’t as nice as that turf he is hitting off.
