My belt just broke today, I experienced the same thing on my 2008 E350, sucks!! I heard the belt whining prior to this I didn’t think it would snap so quickly

well if the water pump doesn't work it doesn't work, no matter what the temperature outside is.
what saved you is the auxiliary electric water pump that is used for the 'rest' feature of the climate control.
Had the same issue with a Ford and I could drive about 5km/3miles before the engine woud start to overheat when starting from an ice cold engine.
Lucky for not overheating it. The main problem is that the water pump does not work. But you are the lucky one БРАТЧЕД ;)

Mind snap today went thru the something like u once I put the new one on had to add antifreeze
Cause it's was low and now my radiator fan stay on now when I'm driving and stay on after the car shut off for a couple min I dunno what to do

I use the 2008 E550 w211 with M273 engine. My engine belt has broken 3 times in less than 6 months. What could be the issue? I don't trust my mechanic no more. :(

Mine went pop today and a massive hissing noise at the same time. Fingers crossed this is not the end for my benz l. Any idea what the hissing sound might have been? I guess I will find out tomorrow after it is towed to the garage

Same thing happened to one I had. That black pulley was torn apart and the belt snapped. eBay sells exact kits for these this happens very often with these
My r129 is consuming serpentine belts. I don’t know what’s wrong yet. I’ve replaced the idler pulley and water pump (it was leaking). The belt starts to shred from the inside within a couple of hundred miles. I did notice the belt sits one slot over on the power steering pulley sometimes. I’ve also had a small leak from the power steering pump for awhile (slow leak) . I’m going to rebuild the pump next week. What could be causing the belt to shred?
It may be any of the pulleys
@@CarGhost I had the power steering pump rebuilt yesterday and went for a drive. So far so good. Belt looks good and no leaks.
@@maxxsteele11 power steering fluid can sometimes contain ammonia or nitrate based compounds. It will eat away at a rubber belt.
just happened to my w212 2013 , i was so lucky to lose the serpentine belt right next to the garage , i also lost the crank pulley and have to replace both parts now !

Yup, it turns you into a hulk. It is ok when the car moving, because you can turn, but when it's stopped it is very hard to turn the wheel

@@CarGhost Yea it looks cool...but these engines are known for balance shaft problems for the years before 2009.. i think your car previous owner has replaced it with a new one....check the engine number and the car VIN to see if they match..
You sparked my interest sir. I will definitely check to see, but looking at carfax and service record i saw no such thing.
