Great video man.. One thing I find funny is how Brits think there food is unique or foreign to us. We have he same stuff like tea and cookies and beans on toast. We just have better options to it like biscuits and gravy and coffee and doughnuts.

I would say while milk with hot tea is not common in the US, it's not unknown either, I have an Aunt that drinks milk with her tea. In fact, especially in the Northeast, we drink a lot of hot tea, maybe not an everyday thing like in Britain, but it's certainly not an uncommon drink either.
Agreed! I’m American (from Northern Ohio) and I drink hot tea with milk.
My grandmother drank mil with tea. She learned it from her best friend, who was a war bride from Britain.
digestives aren't super popular in the US, except maybe among hispanics. Marias made by Goya are pretty well liked. i love the chocolate ones, though they are more like the rich tea biscuits though, taste like animal crackers and aren't dipped in chocolate but made with cocoa powder.

I've tried all those biscuits! We can get some of them at local grocery stores in the International section. I've seen digestives and hobnobs, sometimes Jaffa cakes.
Jaffa's are cakes. The clue is in the name, lol. 😁
I'm in the Pacific Northwest, where it seems coffee is a religion, especially among my family and friends, but I've always been a tea person- and I've always done milk and sugar in my tea. I enjoy baking, so I definitely prefer making something, rather than having a store bought cookie.
Thurston, your inner brit really showed on this one. I didn't recognize any of those "biscuits". I drink tea more than coffee but I almost always drink them without any sugary component to them. My dad drinks tea with milk and sugar all day every day. If he has to leave the house, he's not leaving without making a cup to go. If he's at a diner/restaurant, he's ordering a hot tea with milk and sugar. We live in northern New Jersey, and one time, we went out west to Yellowstone, and they only had herbal teas. No black tea in sight. Had to drive a bit out of the way to find the nearest Walmart so we could get him a box of black tea bags. The man is a tea fiend
Fun video and reaction. Coffee person here in the U.S. Hot green or peppermint tea when I'm feeling sick. Coffee is an American obsession. Plenty of tea drinkers, too -- but I don't see tea overtaking coffee in popularity.
I barely started drinking coffee five years ago. Only one cup a day is what allow myself. Tea is what I go to when I'm not in the mood for coffee.
Cinammon tea with ginger is for when I'm under the weather. Yerba mate (hot not cold) is perfect if you're looking for that adequate coffee substitute. Green tea (hot) for a mild pick me up in the afternoon. Mint tea for after a meal. Hibiscus for warmth or a cooling treat in winter or summer.
Now black tea, I go for Typhoo Extra Strong.
I think milk in tea was considered odd in the US about 15-20-25 years ago.....
But because of British television becoming popular, and English sports getting some traction, it's gotten rather popular in the US. I can't say for Canada, though, because I've never lived there.

My dad, who does drink tea, never thought of drinking tea with milk. British motorcycle racer, Guy Martin, said something about milk & tea. My dad tried it, and loved it!
I prefer my tea without milk, just sugar or honey and lemon.
I tend to like both tea and coffee. Usually I'll make myself a cup of coffe in the morning of get a Black Eye (coffee with 2 shots of espresso) with cream and sugar. Throughout the day I may have a cup of tea or 2. At the moment my go to tea is a mango black tea that I buy at Trader Joe's.

Here in America, we have a cookie brand called 'Pepperidge Farm' that might be able to contend with cookies or (biscuits) like those. 🙂

Digestives aren’t very common here but a lot of our packaged cookies have very similar textures and flavors. The tea experience all seems to come down to who’s preparing it and how long they let it steep. I put sugar and cream in mine.

Hobnobs are nice but Golden crunch is the God tier biscuit - that and white chocolate and rasperry cookies. Lotus biscoff is also quite nice, and those shortbread fingers too - especially the butter ones as some of the cheaper ones aren't quite as good! A good lightly sugared filter coffee with milk and a lotus biscoff, or more. And you know what? I haven't had party rings in a while - they are definitely a sweet tooth biscuit.
IDK why but I come from a tea family. We use milk and coffee creamer in our hot tea.
I sometimes see digestive biscuits or hobnobs in the international aisle of the supermarket here. I love them and would buy them a lot more if they weren't so expensive here.

Most Americans do not have electric kettles. We have whistling kettles that you put on the stove. Those of us without kettles put water in a mug and heat it in a microwave and then put a teabag in the mug
I’m a Texan and we use Electric Kettles. Whistling kettles are seen as very old school where I’m from.

Whistling kettles are originally an English thing. They just tend to have electronic kettles more because they drink more tea and it's easier. In the US we drink way more coffee so many people have no kettle. Especially not a tea pot etc
I have an electric kettle but I'm not the usual. Most of us like coffee and we like it. Drip coffee we don't like freeze dried crystals ick.
Maybe if you took Granny's kettle made in 1929 the rest of us have electric kettles
Also, I first had Jammie Dodgers when I went to London in 2014. Loooove them. And they're now actually pretty easy to find in the British section of U.S. grocery stores

HobNobs are very delicious at that! Years ago, there were a couple of Brits in my university judo club who used to have their parents send them Hobnobs so they could give them to me. I miss them. Not only do I miss the HobNobs but, I miss the two Brits, too Sadly, one never made it home to finish his degree at Exeter. He was killed in a car-truck collision in Monterey, Mexico on summer break before returning home to Leads.
A "digestive" sounds like something that's meant to be taken when you have an upset stomach. :D

Those biscuits as you say, are just a basic cheap crappy American cookies over here.. may as well just dunk it in milk.
We have a verion of Jammie Dodgers in my area called "shortbread cookies" with jam. I used to love them when I was a kid. Now I want to go get some to munch on. LOL.
I drink multiple cups of hot tea with milk and sugar every day. But I am absolutely in the minority for that in the U.S. and I don't know anyone else who drinks tea as often as I do.
That wasn’t grilled cheese last time, that was cheese on toast. Grilled cheese is made on a grill or in a frying pan with butter or oil. Cheese on toast is a very sad cousin of the grilled cheese sandwich.
I like iced tea and sometimes blend tea but i rarely have it with milk. And man do I miss dipping chocolate chip cookies into my milk. I dipped those as much as I dipped Oreos. I wonder where I could find Jaffa Cakes and Jammy Dodgers.... Those sound more up my alley.
You can definitely find electric kettles in the US. But most people don’t use them. We mainly use whistling kettles:)

The way y’all have tea and biscuits in the UK, that is not popular in the US; if we eat cookies it’s gonna be with milk or coffee… ppl do drink tea the way English ppl do but it’s not popular here since we’re close to Latin America we do more coffee stuff
I never drink tea with milk because (and this could be an urban legend) I heard that it causes your stomach to become leathery. I would like the Jammie Dodgers and Jaffa Cakes though. I just add 1 teaspoon of sugar to my tea.
Although I love tea I drink Japanese tea but I also like Earl Grey Tea.

It's not common for us to have kettles. It's common for us to have coffee makers (it makes drip coffee because we despise coffee crystals and like our coffee freshly grpund). I am unusual though. I have an electric kettle for tea sometimes but I dont drink it daily.
I watched the raw video of fhis a few dsys ago, and the comment I made about the tea, is "great, even British tea is flavorless" or something to that effect. So what's with the British pallet in not making food with any discernable flavor? You shouldn't need a cookie/biscuit to get flavor out of a beverage. Sounds like y'all dom't leave your tea bags in lomg enough or sweeten it once you're done brewing it. I haven't had hot tea in quite a while, but for a cup of hot tea, i think i''d put one or two Sweet n Lows in it. And just enough milk to make it look somewhat milky. It looked like Ollie or the other guy put a bit too much much milk in it for my tastes. Same thing goes for creamer in my coffee (i use French Vanilla creamer in mine). I like it when it's just enough to make it brown rather than black (as coffee is). If it starts getting tan or white, that's too much creamer.

Tea and biscuits are not really a thing in the US. Cookies and milk is, but I don’t ever really see people the US drinking tea with cookies.
I never, ever put milk in my tea. First, the thought of dairy milk is disgusting. I would use a nut milk if i did, but that won't happen either loo Just tea and honey. I like to dunk Biscotti in mine. 🙂

Milk in tea, yuck. Tea is not strong enough to stand up to milk. I don't even use milk in coffee. And I don't understand the label "digestive". Sounds like medicine. The Jammie Dodgers seem like Linzer Cookies that you would have at Christmas but I have never had them packaged, just fresh with jam that is not gummy.
Those relatively savoury short crust pastry and jam things are amazing! The buttery mildly salty pastry with the sweet jam is good. Jammie dodgers aren't as good as those in my opinion, as the jam is too chewy.
I probably wouldn’t like the stuff they tried. Hate hot tea and chocolate cookies.

Tea is not weird here, a lot of Americans drink tea, I mean yes there are a lot of coffee drinkers but we do have tea drinkers here as well but not as obsessive as The U.K. is, even I have to admit that is a lot of tea they drink.

All british biscuits is our stale cookies from years ago se dont eat anymore. They act as if what they have in Brtain we dont have here.
