Super helpful stuff here. I feel less anxiety starting a hard mode play thru t ha is to these videos. I started on easy but didn’t expect it to be THAT east. So I have a steeper hill to climb in terms of acclimating myself to the rhythm of normal and hard.
I'd love for them to implement a very hard mode and also add VR coop missions for online play! That would be enough to hold me over for the next few months haha
Pro tip: Starshower's damage buff only applies to the next Ability/Triangle Attacks/Limit Break if it's cast IMMEDIATELY right after Starshower. To be safe cast the next Ability or Limit Break using shortcuts or slowmo/tactical mode while Starshower's animation is still playing so the buff is guaranteed to apply to the next attack
With Tifa dodging around like crazy and being a hard target to hit, its a bit akin to how it feels fighting against Boss Rufus and his insane speed moving around and being a hard guy to hit. So a fast dodging Tifa is just nuts to play and dish out damage.
Just a few things... I'm pretty sure the purple pain increases crit on all abilities and not just the true strike. "Increases probability of landing a critical hit with an ability". Here is a link for a weapon breakdown as well. i.redd.it/0tkwcv68elu41.png For your caster build I really like the idea of maximizing on the chi trap but I feel like having the second elemental materia is a bit of a waste when you could just swap your first linked one for specific fights not to mention I wouldn't want to take magic up off of Aerith. Also using the circlet doesnt really benefit the build much if it wont actually be using MP. You would be better off using the magic +10% acc that you buy in wall market. If you can't play with Aerith in the group for certain parts of the game another thing I have considered is doing a Tifa support build using the sonic strikers since she gets the extra mp regen and reduced healing cost. She is the only one who gets this if Aerith isn't around. If you can get aerith though she will always be superior with her silver staff.
Ahhh ok I thought because the description says it increases "weapon ability" crit it meant specifically that weapon. I'll be sure to make weapon guides soon! Awesome input man thank you! Yup dropping and implementing other materia instead of lightning is definitely how you want to play each fight and matchup! Wow I gotta get that accessory in the wall market. BltzZ just a tip if you highlight over the weapon skill itself it will always give you a better description. Some of the titles in the skill lists are worded a bit funny. For example in this video mythril claws has magic 20% boost with full MP. Which you may think would increase your chi trap but highlighting the ability says “increases damage of attack spells cast when at max Mp.” Meaning it’s only spells. There are a bunch of examples like this.
@@BltzZ Btw, just out of interest, what are your thoughts on the Skill Master materia on Tifa? Do you find that she's fast enough already that she doesn't really need to purposely rotate her moves to proc Skill Master all the time, or is it more a case of personal preference?
I think she is fast already and skill materia is so hard for me to mentally prepare myself to use on tifa haha I always use the same two moves back to back and skill master requires you to use 3 unique moves. I think if you are actively going for it and set your playstyle for it, it can work for sure. But maybe it would be better if you have Gotterdammerung plus refocus for 3atb bars. Dude I'm going to have to finish this Barret guide tomorrow. My new favorite combination in this game is Melee Barret with pincers + Enemy skill(Algid Auda) + HP absorb! He's a beefy Tank and cannot be killed it's insane I spent so much time just mauling mobs over ahaha

I feel the same way! I just can't get into other games ever since I played this game.. It feels evolutionary.. Everything about the game, from it's mechanics to it's storytelling is just so well refined.. It's unbelievably good!
Tifa and Cloud's ground combat is precisely why I adore the fighting system in this game. Air battles are indeed absurd, but since it's not that prevalent in this game. I didn't mind it too much.
Yeah plus Barret can nuke them easily in the air anyways. I love tifas air combat in chi level 3 I forgot to mention that in this video haha but it's in the original tifa guide. The combat for Cloud and Tifa are so satisfying!

Tifa has crazy long combos in the air when you are in chi level 2 or 3. Level 3s long combos consistent of crazy dbz aerial fighting moves and a sick overhead fist bash at the end haha try it out on a flying enemy it's beautiful. Just wish the tracking was better

Vincent's my favorite character in the entire series! I've been so hyped for the next game already. Just imagining blasting enemies with my pistol with the metal arm, Vincent's hair and red cloak flying as I run and dodge, transforming into demons like his LB's are mini-summons. How will he NOT be awesome? Still hyped for Nanaki and Yuffie combat too. She was sorta lame in the original, throwing a giant wheel lol, but she should be awesome with chakrams, kicks, and flips. A combo of FFXIV's Ninja and Dancer could be amazingly fun. I don't even know what to expect from Nanaki! So hyped just for combat alone XD
Yooo if that blend dancer and ninja for yuffie I will lose my shit! They will seriously make it hard to choose who to play haha. I hope we get that freedom the original provided. Being able to have different dialogue and scenes when we have different party members with us!

Yup! I hope we can remove cloud from the party and fully customize it. I'd love if they did what ff10 does where all party members are available in fights! But you're absolutely right my main team would have to have cid in it. I just keep thinking about those jumps in ff14 haha

Yup! I was saying in another comment that I never cared to use him as a kid and I most definitely would in remake because of how much effort they put into making characters so unique and fun! Like Barret is just a long range shooter nothing special when you describe it that way. But the actuality of how they designed his combat and the abilities mann are so different. I'm just excited I can't wait to play everyone haha

I had no idea that Overpower acted as a shortcut to her combo finisher at level 2 chi. Super helpful! The only thing that wasn't highlighted here that I'm aware of is her Deadly Dodge attack chain that differs depending on her chi level. At level 3 she does an honest-to-God Street Fighter Ryu/Ken spinning kick (whatever it's called)! I didn't discover this until the Jenova fight!
I also recommend the Transference Module as an accessory for Tifa. She blows through so much ATB so fast that you're almost always guaranteed a limit break, even in relatively short fights.
Absolutely fantastic video, thank you. I was so intrigued that I had to pause midway through to test out what I’d learned. I’d been really struggling with using Focused Strike and Overpower, and wasn’t really building stagger effectively with them. Focused Strike + Deadly Dodge (bonus HP absorb) was a revelation, as was Overpower finishing with Tifa’s combos depending on her chi level. Seeing Tifa’s combos broken down was fantastic, too, as previously her combos had become an overwhelming blur. Now I can see where her x8 combo finishes, and where her final combo chain finishes. Tifa had been my favorite character to play as, but I hadn’t known how use her effectively outside of stagger - this video was a revelation, truly. After experimenting with what you suggested, everything about her move set clicked into place, and the newfound flow to Tifa’s combat was a joy. Thank you for this highly detailed Tifa vid, along with the Cloud Advanced Guide. I’m looking forward to Aerith and Barrett’s Advanced Guides, too. Superb work.

I plan to make a whole video talking about the potential fighting styles of Cid, Vincent, Yuffie, Caitsith and Red 13. I'm a dragoon main in ff14 so I can't wait to see what cid can do! I hope he has the wildest and craziest jumps we ever imagined. Red 13 could be a shaman or Red Mage build. Yuffie is definitely a ninja but could have some dancer abilities too! Oh man!
She makes this game play much different for me. Soon as I unlocked her during my first play through I took so much time to understand her because I was blown away by her kit. So early on you could tell the potential was crazy. Especially if you understood what unbridled strength did for her!

Tell me about it haha I would be so mad because I swear I timed it perfectly. I was playing FF7 mobile the other day and I kept missing her limit break haha. But oddly enough I feel like the ff7 mobile version builds limit break much faster than the original. I have to double check to clear my mind haha
@@BltzZ Boosting crit chance and getting her into Berserk combined with Sharshower and her limit break makes her nasty. Throw the Götterdämmerung on her, ATB Boost, Skill Master, ATB Stagger and Elemental Materia and she is a monster. I think that takes advantage of all the damage and speed boosts in the game. That plus Haste.
It's one of the coolest looking cancels in this game! Soon as they're pressured I am spamming it! Reminds of in Advent children when cloud at the end is fighting and does omnislash and how he dashes around the screen.
I am a new player to final fantasy 7 remake and I am also really enjoying Tifa. But I usually like balanced builds for all characters. My damage maybe not be super high but everyone has something for the right situation. So essentially all my characters are Jack of all trades. So I enjoy purple pain on Tifa just to get a little healing some casting and my absolute combo of chi trap and star shower.
Thanks for these guides. When I was a child I learned how to read well from pouring over the old paperback strategy guides they would pump out for ps1 / ps2 games, and it was exciting to learn / study to optimize a game. Now we have the 7 remake and it's as if youtube is the remade version of those old study guides.. I love all the characters in this game and how they play. That's not something I say for every RPG out there. I have more fun playing with Tifa and Barret as well.
Barret on paper sounds like he wouldn't be fun when compared to the others but God damn they did a good job with the combat for everyone. I love every chance I'm forced to switch
I didn't come up with this combo myself, but for whoever is on hard mode mage duty pair: Local Elemental Weakness + Magnify Local Elemental Weakness + MP Absorp This effectively causes a three way link and you regain MP for EVERY enemy hit by the spell. Combine this with Aerith's stupid high mag attack and she can cast offensive spells FOR FREE. EDIT: Not even mentioning crap like Mythril Staff's offensive discount, full MP 20% mag attack boost, and Arcane Ward. So, so dirty...

@@BltzZ Yeah some dude on a forum told me that when I complained about not being able to use offensive magic except on bosses in hard mode and he dropped that on me. I was like "there's no way," tested it, and my jaw dropped. EDIT: Still can't go nuts with the -aga tier spells, but then you never really can.
Oh. You can also throw in HP absorb on the same element AGAIN for a four-way link and have her self-heal constantly. It's friggin absurd. It really comes down to how many slots you're willing to trade.
@@BltzZ Sure you figured this out already but Silver Staff is actually the weapon I was thinking of. Reprieve, both versions of MP Saver, MP regen + 50%, elemental damage boosts, and Mag attack + 20% at full MP. Mythril has mag attack + 20% but lacks MP saver and MP regen up. It can totally work though if you push the numbers high enough with Mag Up materia and accessories. Just that Silver has a lot of other nice-to-haves that Mythril doesn't. EDIT: Get to save slots on MP Up though, since once the loop is established she's good to go pretty much forever.
I prefer the combo of: Overpower> Focus strike>rise and fall>whirling upper cut>focus strike>starshower and then if her gauge is up then Dolphin Flurry

Just want to say that this is such a very well done and well explained video and on Tifa combat system and advance play. While many people can make these video's there is always a lot in the details left unexplained or not properly explained. But many the details are so well explained here that it makes the video that much more awesome, relevant and important in playing the game and for maximum enjoyment of character. I just want to highlight the part where you explained the Materia and how Parry works on Tifa. I had no damn idea that it was different on each character and the details of how Tifa executes and slides. You gave these details time to explain and well importantly demonstrate for us to see and importantly visually understand. These kind of things elevate a video and understanding to make it more awesome a video. Thus you do pay attention to the details and in explaining things and just awesome. Thus i decided to Sub as well. Excellent job man, well done and continue to pay attention to explaining the details or demonstrating it.

The last time I was this early, I thought Zack was dead. Great job, been waiting for this one big time. Didn't realize the True Strike combo or know about dodging to get out of stunlock. Beefy strong gun arm man with amazing healing capability and magical eyes lol. Yooo Barret is my shit man great minds think alike lol. True strike combo is a God send! Constantly up their damage for the rest of the party
For Tifa: I also use feathered Gloves but I also forgo the ATB Assist and Steadfast Block instead opting for a full Warding Materia + Time. This enables Tifa to never be slowed or Stopped as this usually breaks my momentum in battle as well as usually cast haste on herself pretty much when every battle starts.
Dude, I feel ya when it comes to the Purple Pain. The same thing happened to me on my first playthrough. I knew a cool weapon for Tifa was coming, and it had the True Strike ability. Was very much looking forward to it. Unfortunately, I past right by it. By the time I realized, it was long behind me and I couldn't go back to get it. Guess that's what chapter select is for. At least it's early on in that chapter. A materia combo I love using for Tifa is a linked pair of Deadly Dodge & HP Absorb. You get a special set of 3 (I think it was three) whirling kicks with about 5 to 7 hits. With the HP Absorb materia paired, all of those hits restore a small amount of HP. With your technique of canceling out of Focused Strike with a dodge, you could potentially restore a fair amount of health. Just throwing this in here: One of my favorite combos is: Overpower > Focuesed Strike> Attack once for the diving split kick > Hold the attack button for the Rising Uppercut > Finish with Divekick. Looks cool AF. GRATZ on 10K!!!!

This advanced guide is fantastic. You nailed it dude. You were asking about more advanced setups, so here's mine. Hardmode 'Desperate Striker' build Weapon: Purple pain (maxed) Materia: Luck 2x (maxed) Elemental+ Fire/Ice/Wind ect (maxed) Binding Materia (maxed) Atb stagger (maxed) Accessory: Fury ring Against elemental weak enemies, chi 3 and low hp, pressure the enemy and just before stagger, use Berzerk into Starshower, and this will transition most of SS damage with the stagger multiplier. Immediately follow up with >True stike (9999 damage) >Rise and Fall(over 9999), >True strike (9999) >Omnistrike (9999) >Whirling into Divekick (over 9999) This is so over kill on normal but can be used in hard mode. Also another tip: Fury ring is a 28% boost to both PHYSICAL AND MAGIC ATTACKS
Awesome build it's really a desperate striker for real! Fury ring brings beserk and beserk raises attack but raises how much damage you take basically lowering defense. So it sounds right up my alley and fun haha
@@BltzZ For sure. Tifa definitely does take some insane damage (65% more) with this build but IMO it's the closest I have gotten to a minmaxed glass cannon (450% damage). For this setup, during stagger 1st true strike hits with a 40x multiplier from the attack stat. This is 4.5 times what true strike does vanilla So you really are getting the high risk high reward experience
@@BltzZ haha I know you're joking but there's some truth to how barrier builds don't have a high risk high reward feel. Speaking of survivability, I just want to point out that every time you double your defense stat, you get 10% damage reduction, times how many doublings have occurred. For example 57 is the lowest defense at max rank 50. Doubling it to 114 will reduce damage by 10%. Doubling it again to 228 would bring it 30% (first doubling 10% x1 + second doubling 10% x 2). As of right now, 228 is the highest def stat that can be achieved (by Barret ofc) using provoke/lifesaver with him when tifa is in red hp is really a great way to ensure her survivability. Another way is to give her shield with Aerith's limit break. Tifa (as well as the rest of the team) is immune to stun with shield buff
I'm only half joking haha tbh I'd rather play with riskier builds it feels more rewarding and gets the heart pumping. I love provoke on Barret it helps with those increased back attack damages
SSJ 3 has NEVER killed a villain or won a fight! SSJ2 has always provided the best entertainment and won fights haha. Gohan VS Cell. Majin Vegeta ssj2 vs Goku ssj2 were amazing

Otherwise known as "How to Ultra Instinct:. The Guide." As much as I love what they did with Aerith in this game in both gameplay and personality, Tifa is still my best girl and this is why.
Tifa is just so ridiculously overpowered in this game I swear lol. It's actually kind of funny how Cloud ends up being the worst character in the game compared to the others. It's a shame that he is forced to be in your party as I would MUCH rather have a party consisting of the other 3 characters.
I just got the game thanks to it being free on ps+ First time I tried tifa was so confused clearing slums but her combat was soo fun i'm looking forward to this Q_Q maybe I shouldn't be looking at guides only have 8 hours in.
I Never was good with materia setups, but feel pretty happy we playing Tifa pretty similar, especially Feathered Gloves wise (honestly, best glove style, to me). Honestly gonna be helpful when getting around to finishing hard while waiting for rebirth. She's my favorite character in general in the game, and sooo looking foward to playing her in Rebirth too. Was super satisfying practicing and then getting 300% stagger with her for the first time XD

Just out of curiosity since I still have yet to try out the game but Im hopefully get my hands on it soon. Since starfall increases your next command damage, can you use it on true strike as well?
Yup you can, but it defends on the enemy and the length of their stagger gauge. If you can't fit the whole rotation you would get more damage for skipping Starshower and fitting the damage percentage increases in that window instead.
I feel like if thebmain characters of this game fought cloud with his counters and parrys would stomp tifa into the ground but tifa would stop everyone else
Yup it was on one of my builds but i switched time to barret I'd rather someone else cast it besides tifa so she does use atb during the stagger and to maximize damage time. Nice i made a video about time stop stagger last week

You have to get atleast 250 SP with a character and for that character you get all subcores for every weapon. Then you can unlock the final materia slots!
I made my Tifa build a Red Mage w/ Sonic Strikers; Magnify Heal with the 20% off heal spells (And Auto Cure if Aerith’s not around), offensive spells with MP and Magic Up, Deadly Dodge and her standard melee attacks. It’s not a be all end all OP build, but it’s one that worked very well when I played. Makes her a well rounded unit, like a true Red Mage.
@@BltzZ I ran my Red Mage Tifa in my playthrough of FF7 Remake, she dies a lot because Red Mage + Monk means little defense. Maybe a Chain Bangle will help with that? And thanks, I hope you consider my LP set for Tifa. :P
Chain bangle very well could! But the aggro system in remake makes it difficult to control one character the whole time. You gotta swap every 5-7 seconds to keep enemies focused on the AI teammates essentially. And rack up serious damage. For fun, check out the instant limit break build we have and the infinite health build as well as the unlimited atb build! You are going to love it

Not for this title but for ff7 remake 2 when we continue the story after midgar. In the original game there are a total of 9 playable characters but we meet them a bit after we leave midgar!
Love this build! Tifa is my absolute favorite. For some reason, I don't have 6 slots for materia on my feathered gloves even though I have unlocked all the "new materia slots" in the upgrades for the weapon. I only have 5, so I cant run this setup 😞

0:13 I feel like it's the opposite. Her defense is low, so they made her very mobile. Just because it was lower than Cloud and Barret's in the original game too.
There are 2 Elemental materias. You get the second one when you complete all side missions and collect it on the ground in chapter 14 before you climb the wall. These guides are focusing on creating a build for that character as the main user. Full team build videos will be coming during the week
When barret isn't in my team, I like to give her hp absorb linked to enemyskill and use algid aura since she's always in the middle of action. Like you said she's a glass cannon so it helps keep her health up
I got a build all dedicated to this idk if you've seen it. It's titled infinite health build. It's super efficient and fun with Barret. For tifa I like to have my instant limit break build on her. Check those out to essentially break the game with the way to utilize them

Focused strike also builds 1 ATB bar upon landing the hit on an enemy, so the cost of it is actually pretty much free. If you put ATB Assist on Tifa, there's endless generation of ATB for your entire team
Yup that's our gameplan with that first build especially! Deadly dodge canceling the focused strikes look sooo beautiful with her animations and the particles emitted

Wow, you REALLY wanted talk about Tifa. XD I can’t blame you why since she really does feel like a fighting game character with all these insane combinations and speed. Not to sure I’ll be this good, especially since I suck at fighting games but I love playing as Tifa so I’ll still try most of these. I think you do such a great job on these and can’t wait for the tips you got on Barret. Btw, is the Chakra materia really that good? I really did tried to use it but it sorta recovers too little HP compared to Cure for me.
Chakra is amazing on hard mode since hard mode you cannot use items or restore MP via benches. So MP is super valuable. Cure is still great and needed but for most fights you wanna use chakra to make sure you have MP for attacks etc and the followup fights haha
No specific materia That's just the nature of focused strike! I refunds alkpst 1 full bar when it successfully lands. It does this because compared to cloud and Barrets focused attacks, this deals less stagger as it says a moderate amount. But cloud and barrets both say significantly increases stagger. So to make up for it we get our ATB refunded which is awesome!

Super helpful stuff here. I feel less anxiety starting a hard mode play thru t ha is to these videos. I started on easy but didn’t expect it to be THAT east. So I have a steeper hill to climb in terms of acclimating myself to the rhythm of normal and hard.

Pro tip: Starshower's damage buff only applies to the next Ability/Triangle Attacks/Limit Break if it's cast IMMEDIATELY right after Starshower. To be safe cast the next Ability or Limit Break using shortcuts or slowmo/tactical mode while Starshower's animation is still playing so the buff is guaranteed to apply to the next attack
Concentration also might let you start with level 3 chi but is super rare

With Tifa dodging around like crazy and being a hard target to hit, its a bit akin to how it feels fighting against Boss Rufus and his insane speed moving around and being a hard guy to hit. So a fast dodging Tifa is just nuts to play and dish out damage.
Just a few things... I'm pretty sure the purple pain increases crit on all abilities and not just the true strike. "Increases probability of landing a critical hit with an ability".

For your caster build I really like the idea of maximizing on the chi trap but I feel like having the second elemental materia is a bit of a waste when you could just swap your first linked one for specific fights not to mention I wouldn't want to take magic up off of Aerith. Also using the circlet doesnt really benefit the build much if it wont actually be using MP. You would be better off using the magic +10% acc that you buy in wall market.
If you can't play with Aerith in the group for certain parts of the game another thing I have considered is doing a Tifa support build using the sonic strikers since she gets the extra mp regen and reduced healing cost. She is the only one who gets this if Aerith isn't around. If you can get aerith though she will always be superior with her silver staff.

BltzZ just a tip if you highlight over the weapon skill itself it will always give you a better description. Some of the titles in the skill lists are worded a bit funny. For example in this video mythril claws has magic 20% boost with full MP. Which you may think would increase your chi trap but highlighting the ability says “increases damage of attack spells cast when at max Mp.” Meaning it’s only spells. There are a bunch of examples like this.

@@BltzZ Btw, just out of interest, what are your thoughts on the Skill Master materia on Tifa? Do you find that she's fast enough already that she doesn't really need to purposely rotate her moves to proc Skill Master all the time, or is it more a case of personal preference?
I think she is fast already and skill materia is so hard for me to mentally prepare myself to use on tifa haha I always use the same two moves back to back and skill master requires you to use 3 unique moves. I think if you are actively going for it and set your playstyle for it, it can work for sure. But maybe it would be better if you have Gotterdammerung plus refocus for 3atb bars. Dude I'm going to have to finish this Barret guide tomorrow. My new favorite combination in this game is Melee Barret with pincers + Enemy skill(Algid Auda) + HP absorb! He's a beefy Tank and cannot be killed it's insane I spent so much time just mauling mobs over ahaha

Tifa and Cloud's ground combat is precisely why I adore the fighting system in this game. Air battles are indeed absurd, but since it's not that prevalent in this game. I didn't mind it too much.
Yeah plus Barret can nuke them easily in the air anyways. I love tifas air combat in chi level 3 I forgot to mention that in this video haha but it's in the original tifa guide. The combat for Cloud and Tifa are so satisfying!

Tifa has crazy long combos in the air when you are in chi level 2 or 3. Level 3s long combos consistent of crazy dbz aerial fighting moves and a sick overhead fist bash at the end haha try it out on a flying enemy it's beautiful. Just wish the tracking was better

Vincent's my favorite character in the entire series! I've been so hyped for the next game already. Just imagining blasting enemies with my pistol with the metal arm, Vincent's hair and red cloak flying as I run and dodge, transforming into demons like his LB's are mini-summons. How will he NOT be awesome? Still hyped for Nanaki and Yuffie combat too. She was sorta lame in the original, throwing a giant wheel lol, but she should be awesome with chakrams, kicks, and flips. A combo of FFXIV's Ninja and Dancer could be amazingly fun. I don't even know what to expect from Nanaki! So hyped just for combat alone XD
Yooo if that blend dancer and ninja for yuffie I will lose my shit! They will seriously make it hard to choose who to play haha. I hope we get that freedom the original provided. Being able to have different dialogue and scenes when we have different party members with us!

Love tifa. Her moves are so mesmerizing, a combination of ferocity and elegance. Definitely best character in the remake so far!
It's crazy how she was always my favorite character and now even moreso they did her justice in this game! The combat is just crazy wild. The amount of crazy stuff you can pull off in this game is cool..I have an advanced Barret guide talking about the sickest setup. Enemy skill with HP absorb

Tifa with transference module. Along with ATB assist and ATB stagger, made my hard mode become easy

Yup! I was saying in another comment that I never cared to use him as a kid and I most definitely would in remake because of how much effort they put into making characters so unique and fun! Like Barret is just a long range shooter nothing special when you describe it that way. But the actuality of how they designed his combat and the abilities mann are so different. I had no idea that Overpower acted as a shortcut to her combo finisher at level 2 chi. Super helpful! The only thing that wasn't highlighted here that I'm aware of is her Deadly Dodge attack chain that differs depending on her chi level. At level 3 she does an honest-to-God Street Fighter Ryu/Ken spinning kick (whatever it's called)! I didn't discover this until the Jenova fight!

I also recommend the Transference Module as an accessory for Tifa. She blows through so much ATB so fast that you're almost always guaranteed a limit break, even in relatively short fights.
Especially when paired with the focused strike build where we weave the deadly dodge cancels in-between free focus strike procs of free ATB!
Absolutely fantastic video, thank you. I was so intrigued that I had to pause midway through to test out what I’d learned. I’d been really struggling with using Focused Strike and Overpower, and wasn’t really building stagger effectively with them. Focused Strike + Deadly Dodge (bonus HP absorb) was a revelation, as was Overpower finishing with Tifa’s combos depending on her chi level. Seeing Tifa’s combos broken down was fantastic, too, as previously her combos had become an overwhelming blur. Now I can see where her x8 combo finishes, and where her final combo chain finishes. Tifa had been my favorite character to play as, but I hadn’t known how use her effectively outside of stagger - this video was a revelation, truly. After experimenting with what you suggested, everything about her move set clicked into place, and the newfound flow to Tifa’s combat was a joy. Thank you for this highly detailed Tifa vid, along with the Cloud Advanced Guide. I’m looking forward to Aerith and Barrett’s Advanced Guides, too. Superb work.

She makes this game play much different for me. Soon as I unlocked her during my first play through I took so much time to understand her because I was blown away by her kit. So early on you could tell the potential was crazy. Especially if you understood what unbridled strength did for her!

@@BltzZ Boosting crit chance and getting her into Berserk combined with Sharshower and her limit break makes her nasty. Throw the Götterdämmerung on her, ATB Boost, Skill Master, ATB Stagger and Elemental Materia and she is a monster. I think that takes advantage of all the damage and speed boosts in the game. That plus Haste.
Basically how to make a murderer? Lol tifa is soooo crazy fun to experiement with builds. Hell all of them are. But I just love how she plays

I am a new player to final fantasy 7 remake and I am also really enjoying Tifa. But I usually like balanced builds for all characters. My damage maybe not be super high but everyone has something for the right situation. So essentially all my characters are Jack of all trades. So I enjoy purple pain on Tifa just to get a little healing some casting and my absolute combo of chi trap and star shower.

When I was a child I learned how to read well from pouring over the old paperback strategy guides they would pump out for ps1 / ps2 games, and it was exciting to learn / study to optimize a game. Now we have the 7 remake and it's as if youtube is the remade version of those old study guides.. It's funny how Tifa feels like playing Monk in FF14. Rather than grease lightning that stacks up to 3 or 4, Tifa has Chi level.

I love all the characters in this game and how they play. That's not something I say for every RPG out there. I have more fun playing with Tifa and Barret as well.

This effectively causes a three way link and you regain MP for EVERY enemy hit by the spell. Combine this with Aerith's stupid high mag attack and she can cast offensive spells FOR FREE.
EDIT: Not even mentioning crap like Mythril Staff's offensive discount, full MP 20% mag attack boost, and Arcane Ward. So, so dirty...

@@BltzZ Yeah some dude on a forum told me that when I complained about not being able to use offensive magic except on bosses in hard mode and he dropped that on me. I was like "there's no way," tested it, and my jaw dropped.

Yeah haha they really enforce the aga spells draining so much mp lol but the ara and normal once are just fine for regular in between attacks
Oh. You can also throw in HP absorb on the same element AGAIN for a four-way link and have her self-heal constantly. It's friggin absurd. It really comes down to how many slots you're willing to trade.
@@BltzZ Sure you figured this out already but Silver Staff is actually the weapon I was thinking of. Reprieve, both versions of MP Saver, MP regen + 50%, elemental damage boosts, and Mag attack + 20% at full MP.
Mythril has mag attack + 20% but lacks MP saver and MP regen up. It can totally work though if you push the numbers high enough with Mag Up materia and accessories. Just that Silver has a lot of other nice-to-haves that Mythril doesn't.
EDIT: Get to save slots on MP Up though, since once the loop is established she's good to go pretty much forever.

Just want to say that this is such a very well done and well explained video and on Tifa combat system and advance play. While many people can make these video's there is always a lot in the details left unexplained or not properly explained. But many the details are so well explained here that it makes the video that much more awesome, relevant and important in playing the game and for maximum enjoyment of character. I just want to highlight the part where you explained the Materia and how Parry works on Tifa. I had no damn idea that it was different on each character and the details of how Tifa executes and slides. You gave these details time to explain and well importantly demonstrate for us to see and importantly visually understand. These kind of things elevate a video and understanding to make it more awesome a video. Thus you do pay attention to the details and in explaining things and just awesome. Truly flawless combat design, massive props to the devs. Like you, I've found Barret extremely satisfying to play too, despite his simple playstyle. For Tifa: I also use feathered Gloves but I also forgo the ATB Assist and Steadfast Block instead opting for a full Warding Materia + Time. This enables Tifa to never be slowed or Stopped as this usually breaks my momentum in battle as well as usually cast haste on herself pretty much when every battle starts.

Dude, I feel ya when it comes to the Purple Pain. The same thing happened to me on my first playthrough. I knew a cool weapon for Tifa was coming, and it had the True Strike ability. Was very much looking forward to it. Unfortunately, I past right by it. By the time I realized, it was long behind me and I couldn't go back to get it. Guess that's what chapter select is for. At least it's early on in that chapter.
A materia combo I love using for Tifa is a linked pair of Deadly Dodge & HP Absorb. You get a special set of 3 (I think it was three) whirling kicks with about 5 to 7 hits. With the HP Absorb materia paired, all of those hits restore a small amount of HP. With your technique of canceling out of Focused Strike with a dodge, you could potentially restore a fair amount of health.
Just throwing this in here: One of my favorite combos is: Overpower > Focuesed Strike> Attack once for the diving split kick > Hold the attack button for the Rising Uppercut > Finish with Divekick. Looks cool AF.

This advanced guide is fantastic. You nailed it dude. You were asking about more advanced setups, so here's mine.
Hardmode 'Desperate Striker' build
Weapon: Purple pain (maxed)
Materia:
Luck 2x (maxed)
Elemental+ Fire/Ice/Wind ect (maxed)
Binding Materia (maxed)
Atb stagger (maxed)
Accessory: Fury ring
Against elemental weak enemies, chi 3 and low hp, pressure the enemy and just before stagger, use Berzerk into Starshower, and this will transition most of SS damage with the stagger multiplier. Immediately follow up with >True stike (9999 damage)
>Rise and Fall(over 9999),
>True strike (9999)
>Omnistrike (9999)
>Whirling into Divekick (over 9999)
This is so over kill on normal but can be used in hard mode.
Also another tip: Fury ring is a 28% boost to both PHYSICAL AND MAGIC ATTACKS
Awesome build it's really a desperate striker for real! Fury ring brings beserk and beserk raises attack but raises how much damage you take basically lowering defense. So it sounds right up my alley and fun haha
@@BltzZ For sure. Tifa definitely does take some insane damage (65% more) with this build but IMO it's the closest I have gotten to a minmaxed glass cannon (450% damage). For this setup, during stagger 1st true strike hits with a 40x multiplier from the attack stat. This is 4.5 times what true strike does vanilla
So you really are getting the high risk high reward experience
If you're not risking it all in this game you aren't playing the game is what I say! Screw those barrier builds!

I just want to point out that every time you double your defense stat, you get 10% damage reduction, times how many doublings have occurred. For example 57 is the lowest defense at max rank 50. Doubling it to 114 will reduce damage by 10%. Doubling it again to 228 would bring it 30% (first doubling 10% x1 + second doubling 10% x 2). As of right now, 228 is the highest def stat that can be achieved (by Barret ofc) using provoke/lifesaver with him when tifa is in red hp is really a great way to ensure her survivability. Another way is to give her shield with Aerith's limit break. Tifa (as well as the rest of the team) is immune to stun with shield buff
I'm only half joking haha tbh I'd rather play with riskier builds it feels more rewarding and gets the heart pumping. I love provoke on Barret it helps with those increased back attack damages

its not really that viable unless you hit multiple enemies, you only heal for about 100-200 hp per enemy hit with deadly dodge

Tifa is just so ridiculously overpowered in this game I swear lol. It's actually kind of funny how Cloud ends up being the worst character in the game compared to the others. It's a shame that he is forced to be in your party as I would MUCH rather have a party consisting of the other 3 characters.
I hope this dynamic is shifted a bit where we can use 3 unique members instead of always having to have cloud there!
I just got the game thanks to it being free on ps+ First time I tried tifa was so confused clearing slums but her combat was soo fun i'm looking forward to this Q_Q maybe I shouldn't be looking at guides only have 8 hours in.

I Never was good with materia setups, but feel pretty happy we playing Tifa pretty similar, especially Feathered Gloves wise (honestly, best glove style, to me). Honestly gonna be helpful when getting around to finishing hard while waiting for rebirth.
She's my favorite character in general in the game, and sooo looking foward to playing her in Rebirth too. Was super satisfying practicing and then getting 300% stagger with her for the first time XD
Mortal Kombat needs to add Tifa as a DLC fighter she would fit perfect in that series or Soul Calibur. ❤

Since starfall increases your next command damage, can you use it on true strike as well?
Yup you can, but it defends on the enemy and the length of their stagger gauge. If you can't fit the whole rotation you would get more damage for skipping Starshower and fitting the damage percentage increases in that window instead.
I feel like if thebmain characters of this game fought cloud with his counters and parrys would stomp tifa into the ground but tifa would stop everyone else

Probably try to sneak in a Time Materia in her builds to stop the stagger meter for her to max out her damage output, especially against bosses.
Yup it was on one of my builds but i switched time to barret I'd rather someone else cast it besides tifa so she does use atb during the stagger and to maximize damage time. Nice i made a video about time stop stagger last week

How do you get 6 materia slots for every weapon ? Is it unlocked playing hard mode only ?
You have to get atleast 250 SP with a character and for that character you get all subcores for every weapon. Then you can unlock the final materia slots!
I made my Tifa build a Red Mage w/ Sonic Strikers; Magnify Heal with the 20% off heal spells (And Auto Cure if Aerith’s not around), offensive spells with MP and Magic Up, Deadly Dodge and her standard melee attacks. It’s not a be all end all OP build, but it’s one that worked very well when I played. Makes her a well rounded unit, like a true Red Mage.
Tbh that sounds like a lot of fun too! I love red mages and I cannot wait for more flexibility with part 2. Once we get way more materia options!
@@BltzZ I ran my Red Mage Tifa in my playthrough of FF7 Remake, she dies a lot because Red Mage + Monk means little defense. Maybe a Chain Bangle will help with that? And thanks, I hope you consider my LP set for Tifa. :P
Chain bangle very well could! But the aggro system in remake makes it difficult to control one character the whole time. You gotta swap every 5-7 seconds to keep enemies focused on the AI teammates essentially. And rack up serious damage. For fun, check out the instant limit break build we have and the infinite health build as well as the unlimited atb build! You are going to love it

Personally I've never tried that but I don't imagine it would do you all that much better. Than atleast having something else in slot. But try it out!

Not for this title but for ff7 remake 2 when we continue the story after midgar. In the original game there are a total of 9 playable characters but we meet them a bit after we leave midgar!

Love this build! Tifa is my absolute favorite. For some reason, I don't have 6 slots for materia on my feathered gloves even though I have unlocked all the "new materia slots" in the upgrades for the weapon. I only have 5, so I cant run this setup 😞

how are you able to have the elemental materia for all characters, isin't there only one in the whole game?
There are 2 Elemental materias. You get the second one when you complete all side missions and collect it on the ground in chapter 14 before you climb the wall. These guides are focusing on creating a build for that character as the main user. Full team build videos will be coming during the week

When barret isn't in my team, I like to give her hp absorb linked to enemyskill and use algid aura since she's always in the middle of action. Like you said she's a glass cannon so it helps keep her health up
I got a build all dedicated to this idk if you've seen it. It's titled infinite health build. It's super efficient and fun with Barret. For tifa I like to have my instant limit break build on her. Check those out to essentially break the game with the way to utilize them

Focused strike also builds 1 ATB bar upon landing the hit on an enemy, so the cost of it is actually pretty much free. If you put ATB Assist on Tifa, there's endless generation of ATB for your entire team
Yup that's our gameplan with that first build especially! Deadly dodge canceling the focused strikes look sooo beautiful with her animations and the particles emitted

Not to sure I’ll be this good, especially since I suck at fighting games but I love playing as Tifa so I’ll still try most of these. I think you do such a great job on these and can’t wait for the tips you got on Barret. Btw, is the Chakra materia really that good? I really did tried to use it but it sorta recovers too little HP compared to Cure for me.
Chakra is amazing on hard mode since hard mode you cannot use items or restore MP via benches. So MP is super valuable. Cure is still great and needed but for most fights you wanna use chakra to make sure you have MP for attacks etc and the followup fights haha

Wait what Materia allows for focus strike to refund so much of the ATB for you to continually spam it after a deadly dodge?
No specific materia That's just the nature of focused strike! I refunds alkpst 1 full bar when it successfully lands. It does this because compared to cloud and Barrets focused attacks, this deals less stagger as it says a moderate amount. But cloud and barrets both say significantly increases stagger. So to make up for it we get our ATB refunded which is awesome!
