Thank you so much for your kind words! For this recipe, I used store-bought shiokonbu 😅 It's a very popular ingredient in Japan, but I understand it can be challenging to find overseas. If you're interested in making it at home, you can season kelp, which has been used for making dashi, with salt, soy sauce, sugar, mirin, and vinegar. When I searched on UA-cam, I found quite a few people who have made videos on how to make shiokonbu 😳 I would love to create a video about it myself someday too. Thank you 🙏🏻😊
What a lovely lot of corn! I enjoy this season and always try to freeze some for later but it never lasts long! I have seen salted kelp sold in our market but it is a wet salty mix kept in the refrigerated section. It seems to be thick pieces with some packages specifying stems only. Could that be used in place of the shiokonbu? Thanks for a beautiful video and enjoy! 💕💕💕
Thank you so much for always watching my videos. It seems like we share the same love for corn! 😂 I can totally relate; I have a feeling my corn will disappear by the end of the week too! 😂 As for the salted kelp, it might work as a substitute. You can try cutting it into thin pieces and adding it to the onigiri! Have a fantastic week ahead! 🥰
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad you find the rice balls special and delicious. It's unfortunate that you can only find normal white rice types in your area. In Japan, there are indeed many varieties of grains, and it's great to see a renewed appreciation for them. I'm also a big fan of grains, including rice, and love incorporating them into my dishes. But don't worry, you can still try making these rice balls with the rice available to you. They'll still be tasty and enjoyable! 😊
These look so pretty!
How to make shiokonbu? They don't sell it in our local Japanese market 😒

Your riceballs look so special and delicious! Normally I can only find normal white rice types here.
