    I feel bad for Margot
She went through the same as Anne
She had a diary (it was lost)
But Otto dedicated and gave legacy to Anne and Margot stays hiding in her shadow

Maybe if we have had the possibility to read the diary of Margot the story would have been different. If Anne had survived, the story would have been different too, maybe we would not know about Anne either (I know she knew that there was the request for people to preserve their diaries, and maybe she would have tried to publish her too, but for many reasons it would have been still a different story), like we don't know the stories of millions of people who lived, died or survived in ww2.

      Margot’s diary was never found

But you gotta consider it from a historical standpoint.
The point is that it was 6 million other stories eradicated, people that went without a trace.
Anne's diary is so touching because she confronts her own faults and admits things self critically, but its because of her gift of writing and that she underwent that loneliness that writing to her diary as a friend is why her message, on its own stance in literature, still resonates with people generations later.
And we also know about Anne Frank, as well as Margot, even Otto Frank, because her diaries were saved after they were caught.
If the Nazis didn't take Anne's briefcase from her, containing her diary and threw out the contents onto the floor, its likely Anne would have taken her diaries with her, along with Margot (and maybe even Peter!) to the transit camp and their properties taken from them and destroyed at the concentration camps.
And its because Anne was so vocal with the helpers, telling her dream of wanting to become a writer and asking for more paper to keep up her diary notes that it caught Miep's attention when she saw the red checkered journal on the floor, and gathered up all the papers and kept it for Anne when she came back...
And its a miracle the diary survived under those circumstances, and that Anne wrote so optimistically in confinement.
When we read her diary, like Miep said, its like all the people come alive again, hearing their voices and remembering them as complex human beings like us all.
And I actually love Anne Frank's short stories as well, particularly Give where she says "No one has ever become poor by giving," and original writings from the Collected Works or Revised critical edition she comes across a lot more sensitively and clearer in the translation than the published editions, but that's just my opinion.
While its thanks to Otto that wanted Anne's message to be brought to a larger public for young people, and wrote to many of the beloved readers (and haters), he responded to every letter compassionately and hoped people would work towards creating a more tolerant world and fighting prejudices in their many different forms.
This man lost everything, yet gave back so much with a loving heart.
And there's something healing about reading Anne's journey into growth emotionally, intellectually and spiritually; that experience humbled her and made her appreciate the simple things.
We can't forget, but we also can't ignore world issues at present either and not challenge them; its the human spirit that matters, not where people come from.
We're a lot more alike in the inner similarities, if we just dig down deep and see the core that we all share.

My grandmother and grandfather were both holocaust survivors (both of them had lost their entire families), and had met shortly after treblinka was liberated. Neither one of them were ever willing to talk about their experiences in the concentration camps much.less even mention anyone in their family. I can remember when I was younger and had saw the tattoos on my grandmother arm, and I had asked her about it. My grandmother had just kept her mouth shut and had refused to answer any of my questions. Once I had gotten a lot older, I was able to understand how much it had affected my grandparents
