The Intro to Winter Skills Course by AMTAC Shooting is just that, an overview of all those important winter skills over the span of 2 days...
The course started with mobility, making our way up to the ATC (AMTAC Training Center) with packs on snow shoes. Following that, we got into melting snow for water, the importance of hydration and then into some shelter building.
The class pretty much covered all of those key points when it comes to surviving in the cold of winter. This included fire building and even some mobility aspects, like different types of skis as well as points of performance for riding Snow Mobiles. And of course there was a pistol and carbine portion thrown in.
Overall it was a great course that kept a solid pace to cover the key points in Winter Skills. A great primer for anyone planning to spend time in the mountains or to just be more prepared should they live in a place where winter comes. Because winter is not without consequences for the unprepared.

Being that I'm in NW Montana I forget people need this kind of info. This would be too basic for me but I would take a course like this just to have fun with people.
BionaryDeath The value of the list is also the product selection of items, gives viewers other options to consider against their current kit.
@@bthemedia absolutely, I often find people are more creative than me and have cooler kit. So it is nice to compare and I'm never done learning.
Always good to work that “other strong side”. 💪 😉
Was about to ask about the gear you used and then saw it all in the description. Thanks for sharing that.
Bill rapier is my spirit animal 🐉
I need to do something like this
Man you are living the life here!
nice content
Seeing you guys go around with snowshoes and those stiff alpine skis just sends shivers down the spine. I do winter-season hunting (hares and upland bird) actively here and the minimum for me is a really flexible 3 meter long forest ski. But then again we have a lot of snow. Alpine skis could work for like high altitude open hill sides with sun-thawed and frozen compacted snow. The short altai hok skis and snowshoes I usually leave for the casual instagram-lifestyle types that walk around the forest for 2 hours tops.
3 meter long skis?! im interested in hearing more about that! haha
@@IHavAnAkimbonr Hey it's pretty normal lenght here in the nordics when it comes to forest-skis (call them what you will). Average length is between 2,5-3meters. Mine are Järvinen Lapponia. Google it.
@@Asmellyrottenpotatoe Damn those are some long skis! thanks
Been waiting on this vid after all your teaser footage in other vids! Cheers from 🇨🇦
Vert cool video. Bill R is the man for sure. Glad you have put this info out for all to see.
Great Video!
Keep up the great work
What are the sizes and distances to the handgun target plates?
great vid thank you
What a cool course. Good intro into these skills
Great video. So sick, man! Love Bill's classes.
It seems everyone had their own gear: clothing, ammo, guns etc. But one thing I noticed not mentioned...food. Who supplied the food? Did everyone have to backpack in their own food?
Yeah. It was only 2 days though.
Nice vid! Thanks for the content.
Policing up all that brass must have been a bear.
I know a guy, who can start a fire, but only after he jumps into a frozen lake.
for your other strong side reload have you tried reaching under the gun with your right hand and hitting the slide release instead of charging? great class btw
Wow 😳
Nice beard Ivan.
That a 64th Troop Command patch!?
Do you have a video on the stoner grip? Thanks
What is the radio that you all are using on this excursion
do you have any videos that cover the gear that you put together for a class like this? I want to eventually do stuff like this but being so new its all just really intimidatingly
Other than in the description? :)

Looks like Ivan is a bit more mobile than Bill was expecting.
