There was an early show and late show on 8/12/76, their first date in CA. I sat on the sidewalk for an hour or two before the early show, and got a table against the stage on Johnny's stage side. I remember parts of the night like it like yesterday. Was a huge fan before then and have been ever since. I'm still looking for a photo of me sitting there! Anyone have any? Monty? Danny?
Was there, the Flaming Groovies opened up. Great show!
Missed this, but was at the show at the Starwood and then the Golden Bear later in the week. Rodney on the Roq had been spreading the word. I was into prog rock before this, but the energy and immediacy was undeniable. Saw them many times over the years. STILL sounds fresh.
Cool. Would have liked seeing them at either show..but the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach CA? Missed that. Even smaller than the Roxy. Crowd prob came from LA.
man I wish I saw this show. I saw 8 shows but only starting in 1978.
I did the lights.
I was there. 2 sets at the Roxy. Hotter than hell in the club. Looked under the curtains before they started. They were putting on their leather jackets. We had a table on stage right.
Second set was a small crowd. Almost everyone left after 1st set. Only a few tables of ppl stayed, like us. ONE TWO THREE FOUR...
this is almost like listening to their first album in the right speaker only....lol
I had this on a 10 inch clear vinyl.. wish that I still did..
Interesting at 15:38 they use the opening chords on their first album to NEXT TIME I'LL LISTEN TO MY HEART and instead play CALIFORNIA SUN. (o:
They usually did the same for All The Way, Oh, Oh, I Love Her So, and so many others that I cannot recall right now, but it's interesting they did that and just play California Sun lmao.
@@AgusVilla1. I wonder why they play listen to my heart on the remaster then play california sun.
@@I-Fuk-A-Monkey Maybe a mistake? Lol.
@@AgusVilla1. it could be, but I listened to this video again and it sounds to me like there was a slight cut right before California sun starts, but i don't know.
@@I-Fuk-A-Monkey Oh gosh it was cut, you're indeed right. That's why I thought it was so odd. It's like those slight cuts in It's Alive video version.
I’m gonna post this in HD

So which show is this? What's the date?
This set should be from 8/12/1976 at the Roxy in Hollywood, CA. I believe it was officially released first with Leave Home deluxe, and again for their 40th anniversary for their eponymous debut. If it is, there are a few songs missing here. I only checked Blitzkrieg Bop since it's the easiest with the bass part going slightly wonky at the end.
First week of December 1976 I was there. Runaways, and all the people that made the LA punk scene were there.
@@JudyMaryAndYuki On my 40th Anniversary of Leave Home, the concert on one of the CDs is LIVE AT CBGBs NY 1976, containing 19 tracks.
THE REASON THAT I RESEARCHED THIS AUDIO-POSTING on a night in April of 2016, was that it had occurred to me within recent months that it had been right-at 40 years since I first heard the Ramones on one of the 1970s-era syndicated "Sunday night radio-shows" (This was probably on "The King Biscuit Flower Hour" radio-show -, perhaps around February of `76. Actually, this audio-posting sounds VERY MUCH like what I recall hearing that night). Despite that I lived in the U.S. southeast, I had been catching the publicity "buzz" about The Ramones (though at-that-time I had not yet actually HEARD any of their music); and so I figured that I would check-them-out on that show. ~ WELL -, simply-put, I was decidedly "underwhelmed" by what I heard -, primarily because most of the songs were SO TERRIBLY "UNI-DIMENSIONAL". Almost all of the songs just sounded like slightly-different segments of THE SAME SONG. ~ So, after all these decades since that evening (and after The Ramones having been deemed "legendary" by the "Rock press" for many years), I thought that I would "give them a fresh listen". Well -, (once again) simply-put -, I STILL think that their early performances were terribly UNI-DIMENSIONAL sounding. "Blitzkrieg Bop" was probably the only song that had any real "catchiness"; and it is in-fact the ONLY song from that earlier radio-show which I actually remembered. ~ Oh well -, "so much for being considered 'legendary' "'.
