A 15-years old kid who asks about the causes of the break with Sire Records and Phil Spector. He probably really caught them off guard. Really smart kids, better than many adult interviewers.
Staged question... ? Maybe. But my first thought was, "Ppl were smarter back then" ... and even other questioners are pretty sharp, esp. for THAT age demographic.
Good to see Joey mention Dr Feelgood. Still sad the Ramones just never made it in big time plus died so young. Saw them in Melb 1980 w Inxs supporting them. Ramones always make me feel bad re their many career stalls :( RIP
Depends on your definition of “big time” really. They all lived very comfortably and did exactly what they wanted when they wanted by the time they retired the band. They were also consistently told how influential they were to basically every band that came out after. They wrote books and were on television. They toured the world. They started a movement. They were inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame. That’s all pretty big time.
About 7 years ago I ran into the host on the L train. Incredibly he looked exactly like he does here! He was visibly surprised to be recognized for a tv show he hosted over 30 years prior.
Thanks this is great surprised kt doesn't have more views but not too many people actually listen to/like them anymore they wear the merchandise though.
Great interview! It saddens me that there would be no way that a band could play I Wanna be Sedated on a teen show nowadays. There would be an uproar and the band and broadcaster would be “cancelled” 👎🏻👎🏻

That song is about actual physical pain that Joey was enduring at the time. What's Johnny gonna do, say no? He did try to nix Chinese Rock, though. But Dee Dee talked him out of it. Johnny didn't allow profane lyrics either, but that probably had to do with recording contracts of the time.
The host of this show should’ve gone on to do more in music journalism… He asked more original and tailored questions on this kids’ show than most of what you see in Rolling Stone.

Sadly, there weren’t any. In fact, there weren’t any commercials in this tape in general, as the tape was just a mixture of assorted clips of certain bands.
I really miss good music, I really miss the RAMONES🤘 music is in a bad state right now, especially rock n roll.... NO! Actually the whole damn music industry
Marilyn Manson (Brian Warner) would've been 12 years old in 1981. The kid in the audience is clearly an older teen; moreover, he has a distinct NYC accent whereas Manson grew up in the Midwestern US.
love Johnny's style of speech - mostly straight to the point, well thought and spoken and even with a bit of humor in it. I'm amazed.
like the Pixies reference there
The Ramones would not have lasted 3 years without Captain Johnny

I don’t understand the question
Didn’t Phil lose a wife? That’s metal
Clearly a true fan
Couldve been staged lol
Staged question... ? Maybe. But my first thought was, "Ppl were smarter back then" ... and even other questioners are pretty sharp, esp. for THAT age demographic.
Damn, those kids were grilling the Ramones… especially the first question.
1:15 love Johnny's answer and Joey's correction! Johnny & Joey had such a strange chemistry, love when they laugh together !
They were the best
OMG!!! I was there. I can’t believe this got posted. Thank you.
El universo puede ser confuso
Joey "This is our big break." LOL
Hit singles, and great singles, that's where it comes from-
This is a cool format of young fans just asking questions
What I think is funny how tough guy Johnny is standing there biting his nails...LOL
40 years later you guys made it . Too bad you guys except Marky aren't around to see this .
I don't think it took them 40 years to make it.
CJ, Richie and Elvis are still around too.
@@njabatsis yeah but they weren't around for this show . And that's what I'm talking about
@@njabatsis 😂😂😂Clem the failure Ramones drummer 😂😂😂
You should've seen them in South America. Had people following them around like they were the Beatles in the 60's.
I was a Bach addict, but now I like The Ramones
I didn't know that Nickelodeon was around so long and now I'm pissed that they cut off the tune at the end!
Good to see Joey mention Dr Feelgood.

I’m not sure what you are talking about. They are legends and part of that is because they were an underground.

What?! They’re a legend!! Metallica, RHCP etc done commemoratives of Ramones!..forever young!!
I get sad about them not hitting big time too but in that sense the sanctity of their music is maintained
Thanks for sharing this jewel...
I've never seen this. Thanks for sharing.
About 7 years ago I ran into the host on the L train. Incredibly he looked exactly like he does here! He was visibly surprised to be recognized for a tv show he hosted over 30 years prior.
Great interview! Everyone is motivated and genuine
I recorded part of this show way back when, but it was only the musical segments. I don't remember "Livewire" airing the interview with the Ramones.
How is it possible that this video is on UA-cam for 2 years and only now i'm watching it???😫😫😫😫
Ramones ❤
This is gold
Whoa Nickelodeon was so different than the early/mid 90s Nickelodeon I watched as a kid.
"not a big change" 🤣
I've never seen Johnny talk for so long before.
Awesome look back at the boys in the band and what they felt just starting out. But baby girl had a question and never got picked :(
Thanks this is great surprised kt doesn't have more views but not too many people actually listen to/like them anymore they wear the merchandise though.

Dee Dee looking like a Royal Guard on duty 😂

Johnny blames the late 1960s and drugs, and then they play I Wanna Be Sedated

We can not play Chinese rocks give it to Johnny thunders
Cool upload! Thanks

That was funny were they really in love with Riff randall from rock ‘n’ roll high school

Thanks for sharing! Are there any Nick promos on this tape as well, or is this it?
Sadly, there weren’t any. In fact, there weren’t any commercials in this tape in general, as the tape was just a mixture of assorted clips of certain bands.
@@RabbitFilmMakerTVI read that Nickelodeon had no commercials until 1984. They just had bumpers between programs.

No way, Miguel! That's clearly the best friend from The Wonder Years.
😂😂😂😂
No song 😢
Good answer from Johnny at the end: they forgot about the music

Wow, @2:00 - kid says to joeys face y'all tried to sell out and flopped. Legend.
Funny thing is that's the future CJ Ramone
end of the century sucked. you cant blame them for trying
.... they did too tough to die n subterranean after that. n pleasant dreams was ok.
actually, not bad questions, really.
Radio pushes mediocrity! Totally true!
Piss Trough?
I cringe at the first guy's question.
Is this on a vhs tape

I never realized how bottom heavy Joey was
Blondie’s Debbie Harry said, “… he’s the most sexiest ever!” Alota of us gals agree with her, a**hole. Joey had health issues & fought to live!
Such an uncomfortable interview
