    The company you keep with says a lot. Quaai you have some very good good friends. Good stuff. Neil is good man. It would be cool if he did a video or just a series of pictures of the work as it progresses. Custom PCX fabrications, that is so awesome. All the kit on his Zuma and trailer, that's not "on" there is awesome. If I recall correctly you did a very cool video with Neil and his trailer set.-up/ fabrication. God bless the lot of you ,keep you save from the evil and careless people. And thank you for another video

    I had an older Zuma 125 and 50cc model. Both were solid scooters. I did a 235 mile round trip on the 50cc, and it didn’t skip a beat. The 125 also went on many long rides here in Southern California. The 125 is an all around solid little tank. ✌️

    So the Zuma as a scoot for the SCBR? I always thought few a few minor modifications it would be a good low handicap ride. Your thoughts?

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  4 місяці тому +4

      I think the Zuma 125 would handle the Cannonball just fine. Seth rocked last year on his little Buddy 125, so the Zuma should work. Neil has 51K torture-test miles on his little 2013 Zuma 125... and he might ride that one for the 2025 SCBR!
      I'm 99% likely to ride my PCX150 in 2025. Alex from Romania will be riding his 150-class scoot with me across the country, so that should be a good match. I'll still be doing the remdiation and reskinning of my PCX after Neil finishes hacking at it for a couple of months. I can't wait to see what Mad Max fabrication ideas that Neil has planned for my PCX... it's gonna be great! 😉👍 --QM

    Hey quasi I have ridden just about every scoot out there. Hands down the best all around is the Yamaha xmax 300. 75-85mpg and it will do highway speeds all day long with 0 issues. Also has tons of storage. If you want the best performance scoot you can get in the US try the kymco ak550! Brembo brakes, awesome suspension and triple digit speeds no problem, plus a 270 degree crank makes a great sound with an akrapovic exhaust

    • @dcmphoto7437

      Got a minimum of 72 mpg with my Xmax & it would do highway speeds comfortably even with a passenger. I regret trading it on another bike. The scooter I have now is Honda ADV160. It's pretty good for the size and engine power, but wish I still had the Xmax.

    Malossi is probably the best variator for the Zuma if you're trying to improve it's performance, stronger clutch springs should really help takeoff. A pipe won't do that much for such a small displacement four stroke unfortunately. But CVT work can make em perk up quite a bit.

    I am thinking of running a Yamaha Morphous 250cc for maybe the next Cannonball Run. What is your opinion on the scoot?

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  4 місяці тому +3

      I've never owned a Morphous, but I've ridden a couple of them. They are great scoots with EFI, a big fuel tank (3.7 gal), and plenty of power to crush those 500-mile Cannonball days.
      You'll probably want a better windscreen for it because the original flyscreen is a joke... it directs all of the wind and bugs right at your neck. The aftermarket support for the Morphous isn't great here in the USA because it didn't sell well, but there are plenty of suppliers overseas (e.g., Webike Japan, etc). Good luck! 😉👍 --QM

      @QuasiMotard  4 місяці тому +1

      Good catch! I thought the Zuma had front ABS, but apparently not. I'm surprised how quick it gets off the line for a 125cc engine! It's not quite as quick as my PCX150, but very close up to 45-ish mph. I plan to take the Navi 110 and the Zuma 125 out for some drag races and top-speed runs for comparison sometime soon. Purchased it on November 2023 and put 17,000KM (10,600 miles), I use it for commuting. Taller riders prefer Nmax over PCX due to more leg room. Enjoy riding the Zuma.

    I couldnt get a good close look at the instrument cluster on this screen, but is it not adjustable? It looks like it can be reoriented without much fuss

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  4 місяці тому

      The Zuma's instrument cluster is mounted to a steel bracket that doesn't offer any adjustment. It could probably be bent upward a few degrees to give better visibility for short people like me. There is a "city light" or parking light on the front of the cluster, so I assume that should be pointed mostly forward for better visibility. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

      That's a good question! I don't recall seeing any Zuma's in the 2021 or 2023 Cannonball, but I wasn't really looking for them. I think this new water-cooled Zuma would do just fine crossing the USA.
      Neil is considering taking his air-cooled 2013 Zuma 125 (with the trailer) for the 2025 Cannonball. He's itching for more punishment than his luxurious SMAX 155 doled out in 2023, so stepping down to the 125 might do it. 🤣👍

      While we may never calculate the actual temperature of a frozen Hell, we can safely assume that an ice cube still wouldn't stand a chance in Texas. If we were able to determine whether Hell is exothermic or endothermic ( www.albany.edu/faculty/miesing/teaching/assess/hell.html ), perhaps we could calculate the melting rate of that poor ice cube. Ever give a test run on a ‘24 - ‘25 Honda Adv 160 scooter ? That model seems to be the real sweet spot spec/performace - wise for an all around commuter scooter. Not too small, not too big, value priced to do what a 250 - 300 cc scooter can do. Before a Yamaha 300 Xmax or wait for a Honda 250cc + scooter, give a Honda Adv160 a test ride - review. It may be the best bang for the buck$ multi-use fun scooter on the market & becoming more & more available at dealers now.

      I don't recall if any Zuma 125's have competed (or completed) the Scooter Cannonball, but I"m sure they could! This 2022 model with the new water-cooled engine is surprisingly quick, and it can maintain 58-61 mph on the highway. The knobby tires would need to be upgraded, in my opinion, but the scoot should fare quite well for long-distance touring.
      Neil might be taking his 2013 Zuma 125 for the 2025 Scooter Cannonball! That's the older air-cooled engine, and he already has 50K+ brutal touring miles on that little beast. We'll see how brave he feels when next June comes around! 😉👍 --QM

    Bottom line is yamaha builds the best scooters. The fit and finish and the reliability are second to none. Honda guys hate to admit it.

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  4 місяці тому

      Meh... Honda and Yamaha quality are neck and neck. I've been amazed at the quality and fit/finish of the Thai-built Honda bikes. Nearly every Honda scoot/bike in my stable (except the Rebel 1100) are Thai Hondas. I've had a nearly perfect track record with Honda and Yamaha for their street bikes, scooters, and touring bikes.
      I've owned 30+ Yamaha street bikes/scooters in my riding career (I was factory-sponsored for 6 years for moto-x/super-x). In general terms, Yamaha tends to be more focused on performance and power, and they are less efficient than Hondas of similar displacement. The Honda bikes are detuned for reliability and efficiency, so they don't perform quite as well as similar Yamahas. Mechanically and electrically, both have been very reliable for me.
      Kawasaki and Suzuki are odd children with varied reliability and trust histories, in my experience. The Kawi touring bikes have been amazing and nearly bulletproof, but their sports bikes have been a mixed bag for me (random mechanical and electrical issues). Suzuki sport bikes were either amazing (performance) or complete sh*t (reliability)... but that was mostly with late 90s to early 2000s bikes (I haven't owned a Suzi newer than 2006). Suzuki scooters have also been a poor experience for me after two Burgman 650's. 🤷‍♂️ --QM
