  • The Karvonen formula or percentage heart rate reserve (%HHR) method is the most accurate way to find your target heart rate. This method considers your age, resting heart rate and maximum heart rate.
    When using the Karvonen formula, the resting heart rate is subtracted from the maximal heart rate. The percentage HHR is calculated using the percentage of exercise intensity. A percentage of HHR is added to the clients resting HR to determine the target exercise HR.
    There are 4 steps to using the Karvonen formula:
    1. 220- age = estimated max HR
    2. Estimated max HR - resting HR = HR reserve (HRR)
    3. HHR x percentage (e.g., 70% ) = percent of HRR
    4. Percent of HRR + resting HR = target HR

    Thanks for the video (but you did make a mistake with the 65, it should be 60)
    Formula:
    THR = % (MHR - RHR) + RHR

    130 is Heart Rate Reserve (HRR) not RHR (Resting Heart Rate) and 65 is supposed to be 60. lol.

      Hello Sia did you figure out how to get the max intensity in the first place and 65 she adds in the end is?
      I see there are quite a few people in the comment section confused as well.

    Were you intending on adding 60 bpm as your resting heart rate instead of 65?

    hello, may I ask you a question please?
    Where do you get maix intensity %
    and
    What is 65?
    form HRR intensity? 40-59% 60-89% 90%and above?
    if yes then where do you get the 75%?
    Sorry if it's a stupid question. 🙈

      The 65 is when you multiply the 130 x .75 = 65. The 75% is just an intensity level you pick.

      @@Makeoverfitnesspost wrong 130*.75 is 97.5. how did you get that number? 130x=65 so after that x=.5 so 130*.5=65...

    Can i ask why you use 0.75? Some poeple use 0.7 some use 0.6 and i dnt understand why it differ

    • @randystebbins5733
      @randystebbins5733 2 роки тому

      The 0.75 is an arbitrary number for intensity of your workout. If you use 0.6 it will be an easy run, also 0.7 fits into that zone. 0.75 is pushing toward a lactate threshold intensity.

    • @Makeoverfitnesspost
      @Makeoverfitnesspost  3 роки тому

      If you mean resting heart rate its 60 seconds or 1 minute. You can also get your pulse for 10 seconds and multiply by 6.

    But for women you take 226-age for the max HR. 220 is for men
