That's what the original was actually for. In response to current world at the time events it was very fitting, unfortunately with time the the sarcasm was lost on us. Now it's just used in slow mo scenes during movies
hey. definitely. I can imagine this but coming out of some crackly old speaker. someone should do something like that. take what a wonderful world, and then twist it to minor key, slow it down, then get it to sound like it's coming out of one of those crackly old record players. it's cool how you can do that, take audio, and then get it to sound like it's coming out of different types of speakers or devices isn't it?
Lyrics: I see trees of green, red roses too I see them bloom for me and you And I think to myself What a wonderful world I see skies of blue and clouds of white The bright blessed day and the dark sacred night And I think to myself What a wonderful world Ooh Summertime, and the livin' is easy Fish are jumpin' and the cotton is high Your daddy's rich and your ma is good-lookin' Ah Ooh So hush little baby, Don't you cry I hear babies cry, I- I watch them grow They'll learn much more than I'll ever know And I think to myself What a wonderful world Yeah, I think to myself What a wonderful world
When I listen to this I think of a dystopian future and there's this cynical guy in the rebellion singing this while busting some heads. It actually kinda fits. "Oh look the roses are red and so are my blood-stained clothes. What a wonderful world!"
I know that minor key is supposed to be the "sad" key, but listening to your covers somehow makes me feel a lot of joy..always bringing a smile to my face XDDDD
This song has always given me the creeps in the best way possible, so this has always been one of my favorite Major to Minors Chase has done. Gives me chills even after the hundredth listen.
What I see when I listen to this: I see a word in the aftermath of a horrible plague. A man is alone, as far as he knows the sole survivor on Earth. After he is done burying all those he cared for, he lives on by himself in the slowly crumbling remains of human civilization. Nature is reclaiming all that was taken from her, the world's beauty slowly returning. Yet, he spends a lot of time in tears remembering those he loved who are gone. Time keeps passing. The cities of man become overgrown and begin to tumble, he passes his time raising animals as companionship and for survival. He returns each day to the small graveyard, sometimes weeping and sometimes simply staring silently at them. Decades later, he is an old man. The animals he has raised for generations have grown closer together and cooperate. His last thought is that maybe something more can come from his efforts, that he can leave the world a slightly better place in spite of being the last man. Then he closes his eyes for the last time, hopeful that he will finally rejoin his loved ones on the other side.
A serial killer who’s slowly caressing the dead body of his first-love is singing to her softly, for he’s sorry that he did this to her. His fingers brush softly over the carvings in her thighs, and the pads of his fingertips slowly shut her eyes. One of his tears falls into her face. He wishes he could take it all back, but he can’t, for he can already see the flashes of red and blue from outside. It only takes one bang for the police to know he had already ended his life along with the lives of all his victims.
i love how he puts emotions into the song where you can tell it's sad well that's what the minor key does but he can sing in which is outstanding and perfect for songs like these
Showed a friend, his first response was "The title is wrong. It's in F minor." Drummers! Regardless, great series and I really love your arrangement. Edit: Apologies to those that missed the many-layered joke. The key, in fact, is F minor. My friend the drummer, who also holds a degree in music, purposely made the "drummers are dumb" joke. The title of the video used to include the ambiguous parenthetical "(A MINOR KEY VERSION)", which we were amused by. Explaining jokes sucks, but I totally was too obscure. :) Whoops!
I feel like when Chase sings it just gives any song a different/more meaning and it makes you think about the words more than you usually would. He has an amazing gift.
My grandmother passed away four years ago. She used to love this song, too, and I went into this expecting to cry already, but... Then he started singing Summertime. She loved that song too. She would always sing it as a lullaby right after telling us a few stories, like Hansel and Gretel or Jack and the Beanstalk. This song really brought back all those memories. And now I'm bawling like a baby. Thank you, Chase.
A man survives a global pandemic which wipes out the rest of humanity. The world is gradually healing itself, nature recovering her full beauty. However, he is lonely, spending his time until he dies and hopefully rejoins all those whom he loved who died in the sickness. I like seeing stories while I hear songs.
So many people in this comment section had predicted this future we are living in right now. Who would've fucking thought it was only a matter of time.......
A person stands on the banister of a bridge. It's dark but the lights in the distance are oh so beautiful. There's so much wonder in this world, so many beautiful sights but yet it feels cold and unwelcoming. They ponder how much more beautiful it would be without them in it, they are a dark cloud on the bright, blue sky, a misteke, an outsider. They take a step, close their eyes and fall - their head filled with images of this wonderful world. Their life flashes before their eyes and they know they made the right choice. They're finally happy just for the one moment before everything turns black.
This part around 1:50 is so magical and awesome freaking unicorns man. I've only heard three of your pieces and I'm already advanced by 2 levels. And I could play those over and over and advance to level 14 or whatever, but... what a wonderful world, I can listen to even more of your works, for free, and learn even more, and become a much better artist.
I saw this song in an animatic, and I immediately recognized your voice, even thought I’ve never heard this song in my life 😂 I love your major to minor series, Thank you for making it!
I think that the original song was done in C major but there have been lots of covers in minor keys. I just really like Chase Hofelder's covers, so you know.
This is kind of far fetched, but I always imagine someone who created earth singing this, thinking they could make it a good place, but being disappointed with the result and attempting to destroy it, then they have a change of heart at the end and decide that the world, flaws and all, is truly a wonderful place.
cotten eye joe I literally saw you comment on a video a few days ago and here out of everywhere I find ur comment again on a random vid from 4 years ago
This version makes me picture an MC who lives in a dystopian society where everyone is forced to be "happy" and any "negative" acts are punished severely, hence MC uses "wonderful" to describe his world.
This song really speaks to me, As it makes me feel on another level as the way this song is transposed, Is just like how I view the world through my depression. many thanks! you're extremely talented :D
I first heard this on Google Play this morning, and not seeing the description I wouldn't know what was included. At first I didn't know how I felt about the song, but once I heard "Summertime" in the middle, I was completely sold. Thanks for the great music Chase, my kids I demand I play it when we are on our short weekend road-trips. Keep them coming.
this is my new favorite recreation of a song ever, and that's a huge thing "in my mind at least". i'm s pretty big music snob, and your up against Maynard James Keenan doing rocket man and Tool doing No Quarter. I'm going to share the hell out of this. I love this.
I think of an apocalypse and a young girl standing there with the wind blowing her and she looks at all the chaos around her. Love the effect your music has.
I imagined someone loving the earth as a child but as they grow they realize how much the humans hurt and influenced the earth (the rich people demolishing entire forests for a single building, animals hunted for money etc) so they set out to rid of certain people to make the world better. Basically Death Note's main character
Is it just me, or is this guy's voice perfect for this whole Major to Minor thing?! :O seriously, top notch creepy, with the breathy whisper trail-off, the intensity. I am blown away.
Listening to the lyrics of the song, I really feel as if they were written to be sang in such a melancholy tune. This is beautiful, all of your major to minor covers are.
The original was my grandmas funeral song, and I saw this, clicked on it, and I've cried at it but it's a beautiful rendition of the song. Thank you for your contribution
Ok all of your major to minor covers are really cool but this is fcking genius. I can physically taste the dispair. It feels like someone watching from the outside, depressed and broken, with the wonderful world right there at their fingertips, but impossible to access. I love it.
A vampire dressed victorian clothes, standing on top of the hills looking at the victorian city and singing loudly. "I hear babies cry, I watch them grow" and we see the victorian city transition rapidly into a modern city and in the last "what a wonderful world" line, the vampire is wearing a modern version of his previous clothing indicating he has changed too but not nearly as much
this song sounds so sarcastic about the world being wonderful and its amazing! i came here in the middle of the Covid-19 Pandemic, and this song fits so well with what is happening in the world right now. Everything else around us is growing and thriving and "a wonderful world", but not for humanity.
Man the one song that most of us grew up listening to, and sometimes would sing, just became so different like my heart was beating so fast this gave me goosebumps and everything, I now have a new song to add to my playlist nice. By the way you are very good at singing, I like how you're very smooth, especially when you hit the high notes good job. 👍🏼
The sarcasm in this character's voice is too real. Someone below commented that they picture a vampire singing this, I actually love that idea. He's curious about the world, but he's sad he can never fully experience it. Amazing.
I have a new musical dream. I want to do a duet with him.. Really really bad. Who do I sell my soul to? I'd kill a man to sing a major minor with Chase. (And in case anyone is wondering, though I'm sure no one is, I'd want to do a Disney duet, like love is an open door, or that one from tangled.. What is it called? Ugh. I forget. You know what I mean though.)
Every single video that I watch (especially the major to minor videos) just leaves me with my mouth hanging open. The creativity and renditions that are put out are absolutely incredible. Good stuff!
Sounds like he's using "wonderful" sarcastically in this version.
Agreed twice
Lol
The original *already* sounds sad.
This is more of a "creepy" version.
That's what the original was actually for. In response to current world at the time events it was very fitting, unfortunately with time the the sarcasm was lost on us. Now it's just used in slow mo scenes during movies
Every single one of these sounds like a serial killer who's obsessively in love. I like it.
Ikr 😂
That’s got me fucked up
Doccium yaas!!!!!
That’s the affect of minor key lol
Doccium wwooooaaahhhh
This song is like: "what a wonderful world" * screaming in pain *
A men
I agree
That's real life bud
Pretty much 😂
I just imagine Joker
Survivors of the apocalypse will listen to this as they reminisce about the world that they once inhabited.
Frosty Mac damn...
hey.

Holy crap
Very good imagination
Lyrics:
I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day and the dark sacred night
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
Ooh
Summertime, and the livin' is easy
Fish are jumpin' and the cotton is high
Your daddy's rich and your ma is good-lookin'
Ah Ooh
So hush little baby, Don't you cry
I hear babies cry, I-
I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
Yeah, I think to myself
What a wonderful world
@@person3271 I got "summertime," but the rest was unintelligible to me until "your daddy's rich" too.
Is it not "They learn much more than I'll never know"? That's how I keep hearing it
This is epic. Really really well done!
I love how he doesn't even mention that he threw *"Summertime"* in there. Always manages to make things next level! He's a genius.
When I listen to this I think of a dystopian future and there's this cynical guy in the rebellion singing this while busting some heads. It actually kinda fits.
"Oh look the roses are red and so are my blood-stained clothes. What a wonderful world!"
Hahah. It's perfect.
Dude. That's an awesome concept
I know that minor key is supposed to be the "sad" key, but listening to your covers somehow makes me feel a lot of joy..always bringing a smile to my face XDDDD
That means that you are a serial killer. Don't worry, it does that to me too
please do "Pure Imagination" in a minor key 😁
yaaaass
I agree! This needs to happen!
YESYEYSYES A THOUSAND TIMES YES!!!!
Oooo, that would be awesome
@chase holfelder please god yes holy assbutts things would be exciting yes
okay these vibes are legitimately creepy. Doesn't mean I don't like it though. These minor versions are so intense, which I love.
This song has always given me the creeps in the best way possible, so this has always been one of my favorite Major to Minors Chase has done. Gives me chills even after the hundredth listen.
That lung power tho
technically it's called a chest voice XD sorry
Sounds like a super villain theme, like a villain who was hurt by the normal world so they made it horrible for everyone else...
The first thing that came to my mind was the Grinch xD
Now the new Joker
Yup, obviously The Joker (2019)
Rafik Akbar Definitely the joker lol
agreed and if you know the dream smp, Wilburt is who i see this song for
Not gonna lie, I was thrown off when you began in a lower octave. Usually you are always very high octave singer, so it was a very nice change
Yeah it was really interesting and cool to see cuz he rarely ever does it
u sound like a damn villain and it's amazing

I'm sorry but the first part of that paragraph made my mind go to Serial Killer Snape and Lily from HP and it's scary
sir júngkòøqué That made me think of how this would be in a Marilyn Manson rendition and I’m into the dark tragedy
Woah
Omg you beautiful psychopath
Sir, that's sooo deep 😮💝💙
i love how he puts emotions into the song where you can tell it's sad well that's what the minor key does but he can sing in which is outstanding and perfect for songs like these

Drummers!
:) Whoops!
Haha. I wasn't specifying the exact key... just in a minor key in general.
I don't see how that makes the title wrong. People don't typically preface any cover with the specific key.
Oh did he think it was "A minor" lol?
in "A Minor" key...Drummers...everyone else read it as "in a minor key"...get the joke now?
+kenny trent Fuck
i think if he will do Mad World that the song would be super depressing and scary but cool at the same time
YES he should do that
YES
mad world is already in a major key I believe
I think Mad World is in minor but I'd have to check
jou iris omg yesss
I feel like when Chase sings it just gives any song a different/more meaning and it makes you think about the words more than you usually would. He has an amazing gift.
To be such involved into minors you got to be careful because you can be arrested someday.
This guy. This guy's got jokes.
HAHAHAHAHA
hahaha
Best comment! 😂
it took me a second to get it but i gotta clap you to cause that got me to laugh.
I don’t know why but the lyrics
“I heard babies cry , I watched them grow
They learn much more than I’ll ever know”
Really hits me in minor 😂
I think it would be cool to hear your rendition of "Happy Together -the Turtles" 😏
Check out the Great Gatsby version for inspiration
Nice!!
Check out Slothrust's cover of that song! It's awesome!
Isn't that already minor? Maybe he could transpose it to a major key.
Seegtease Idk, but he can make it sound awesome, if he slows it down and makes it sound more intense
My grandmother passed away four years ago. She used to love this song, too, and I went into this expecting to cry already, but...

I would love see a cover of I can't help falling in love with you! Anybody else?
I LITERALLY COMMENTED THIS ON ANOTHER VIDEO I REALLY WANT THIS
oh yes ,, you bet ~!! Love on the Rocks by Neil Diamond as if it isnt already
This makes me feel like the person singing this song is from a post-apocalyptic world and is reminiscing over the beautiful world he used to live in.
A man survives a global pandemic which wipes out the rest of humanity. The world is gradually healing itself, nature recovering her full beauty. However, he is lonely, spending his time until he dies and hopefully rejoins all those whom he loved who died in the sickness.
I like seeing stories while I hear songs.

please do Happy by Pharrell. That would be wonderfully ironic.
PrincessM Happy is already in minor I think
Already in a minor key, but that doesn't mean it can't be made darker.
@@xfuzzyyyy it doesn't count since it's low effort, I want high quality remix from this guy

i loved this cover! Absolutely beautiful! but when are you going to do "my favorite things"?? that would sound amazing this way!
OMG brilliant idea alert
Yes!!
OH YES PLEASE
This needs to happen
John Coltrane played a version of my favourite things in minor too
How do you manage to create such an amazingly beautiful sound and and gorgeous visuals at the same time???
Talent
Ask God
you should do Feeling Good by Michael Bublé
Yes please!!!
Or anything by Bublé!!!
+Paul Gray true
I would love him do "When I'm back on my feet again" in Minor Key... I can just imagine
yes- but that isn't even the original
my ears weren't prepared for this
I saw this song in an animatic, and I immediately recognized your voice, even thought I’ve never heard this song in my life 😂
I love your major to minor series, Thank you for making it!
I loved your cover for this song,. Also, can you do a major to minor of hallelujah, please?
He has to do that
I know right?
correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure Hallelujah is already in minor key :)
I think that the original song was done in C major but there have been lots of covers in minor keys. I just really like Chase Hofelder's covers, so you know.
Heroic-Tomato-Loving-Italian thanks! That makes sense. And Chase's covers are just amazing, I love his take on 'out of the woods' and 'exes and ohs'!
am I the only one who thinks that the covers are better than the original song? 😍
Especially his cover of "I Want You To Want Me."
yea, the twist he puts on them is exactly to my tastes so I absolutely adore his remakes!
Only when it's chase Holfelder
Meep
true
Your magic with music is both ethereally spooky and brilliant. The music changes the feel, but it is your voice that makes these songs truly explode.
Oh...my...gosh!!! I love that you added "Summer Time." One of my favorite jazz songs!!!!❤️❤️ stay amazing!!!
This is kind of far fetched, but I always imagine someone who created earth singing this, thinking they could make it a good place, but being disappointed with the result and attempting to destroy it, then they have a change of heart at the end and decide that the world, flaws and all, is truly a wonderful place.
This cover has inspired me to write a story
Kieran Shae Blue may I hear the story?
cotten eye joe I literally saw you comment on a video a few days ago and here out of everywhere I find ur comment again on a random vid from 4 years ago
How are these covers not in movies already? I mean ma goodness!!!!!
This version makes me picture an MC who lives in a dystopian society where everyone is forced to be "happy" and any "negative" acts are punished severely, hence MC uses "wonderful" to describe his world.
This has got to be the most ethereal song I've ever heard, and I absolutely love the editing of the footage, too!
This song really speaks to me, As it makes me feel on another level
as the way this song is transposed, Is just like how I view the world through my depression.

Omg the angst and drama...with a little Porgy and Bess thrown in 💜💜💜
I'm soRRY I did not expect to have literal chills 10 seconds in, holy MOLY is this good, aand now I'm obsessed.
WOW. IVE NEVER HEARD YOU DO THIS WITH YOUR VOICE AND IM IN AWE
I think of an apocalypse and a young girl standing there with the wind blowing her and she looks at all the chaos around her. Love the effect your music has.
Your voice is so unique😍 You deserve so much more attention!
How are people disliking this??? It's one of my favorite ones that he did!!!! It's AWESOME!!!!!
Well damn that was depressing
I love it
Putting songs in a minor key almost give the song a different meaning it's haunting...I LOVE IT

The directors need to see this comment
That's a real musicianship. Not only you changed intervals but you made intirely new arrangement
"Summertime" sampling was a great decision!!!
Listening to the lyrics of the song, I really feel as if they were written to be sang in such a melancholy tune. This is beautiful, all of your major to minor covers are.
I can see this being sung after an apocalypse ironically.
The original was my grandmas funeral song, and I saw this, clicked on it, and I've cried at it but it's a beautiful rendition of the song. Thank you for your contribution
Sarcastic version of What a Wonderful World
Same message conveyed, with the dark of reality. It's beautiful.
OMG WHEN HE SANG SUMMERTIME I DIED
This is great. You are amazing. You should do "Somewhere over the rainbow" in minor key. I would love to listen. :)
Thanks! Sure thing. Here it is, just for you :-) - ua-cam.com/video/VmrhzGyW1Fo/v-deo.html
Thank you

Amazing Chase Holfelder this Song
Thanks!
Man this was beautiful. My mom passed away 10 days ago. This was the the song I danced with her to at my wedding.
I have yet to listen to a song that you have done that I don't love. Just amazing.
I subbed in 1 minute flat and then noticed your whole play list is literally everything I love about music.
Amazing once again. Cheers Chase.
A vampire dressed victorian clothes, standing on top of the hills looking at the victorian city and singing loudly. "I hear babies cry, I watch them grow" and we see the victorian city transition rapidly into a modern city and in the last "what a wonderful world" line, the vampire is wearing a modern version of his previous clothing indicating he has changed too but not nearly as much
This gave me shivers. So fab.
This is my favourite of your tunes. A real classic given a new twist.
this song sounds so sarcastic about the world being wonderful and its amazing! i came here in the middle of the Covid-19 Pandemic, and this song fits so well with what is happening in the world right now.
Everything else around us is growing and thriving and "a wonderful world", but not for humanity.
This song in a minor key gives me the same vibes as the dystopia in We Happy Few. Brilliant! Chills.
I listen to this and I see a super powered villain destroying everything all while singing this.
he needs more fans!!! HE NEEDS MORE PEEPS ~starts the super share~
Thank you for your super share :)
listened to this about 100 times already atleast, yet I never fail to be covered in goose bumps
This is what is plays as Pucci gains Made In Heaven and time begins to speed up
*Love* that blend with "Summertime". Genius.
this better be the credits song to the 2020 movie
The sarcasm in this character's voice is too real. Someone below commented that they picture a vampire singing this, I actually love that idea. He's curious about the world, but he's sad he can never fully experience it. Amazing.
I came here because, apparently, INTPs seem to prefer minor key songs.
Well.... apparently INFPs too... Caz i cant stop replaying this.
Shit, we do? I guess I'm here so...
May sound ignorant but what are INTPs and INFPs ?
Debi Beck personality types
I'm ENFP but maybe because I'm diagnosed with depression that I find minor much much much better than major key
This version could easily be sung by a villain in a movie or something, it's perfect for that kind of character.
Well happy birthday to me. Love it.
OHMYFUITSCATBUG
Thanks! :) Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday to me as well. This was amazing!
Happy birthday.

+karina Ross jamnesia = my new favorite word
+ModestScizor45 seriously though. What I wouldn't do to sing that song with Chase (Or even just, song for him briefly. I've been told I'm amazing.)
Every single one of your Major to Minor songs give me *major chills*
HOW DO YOU DO IT
Imagine every. Single. One. Of these things that he talks about crumbling and cracking and fading away or burning everytime he mentions them...
🙂 yup
I'm never disappointed when you upload a new video Chase!
It would be so cool if you covered Hallelujah!!
