Moving Two HUGE Fish Tanks! All in One Day

- I recently moved houses and needed to move my two 6ft Waterbox Aquariums with me. These fish tanks each weigh over 200kgs alone and were full of water, hundreds of kilos of sand and rock, a LOT of African Cichlids, and a very elusive spiny eel. Gallery Aquatica took care of the move for me and made it look surprisingly easy. Both tanks and livestock were safely moved within 4hrs. What a day! I documented the whole process in this vlog style video so you can see exactly how it was done.

If you do need to move big/expensive tanks I highly recommend getting an aquarium company to do the move for you. I previously had a terrible experience hiring a piano moving company to move my tanks. I made a video about my experience which I'll link below:

Hahaha yep!! 🤣 It definitely helped not having to drive the tanks anywhere because that is just another layer of stress. I'm so glad it's all done though
No idea what this service cost, but those guys were awesome. Have all the right equipment, very friendly and professional, and especially love they brought more than just one or two guys to knock out this huge move! Great video!

Wow. So keen to get back into the hobby when I have the space and the funds. I've learned a lot since finding your channel. I had no idea there was someone that specialised in moving tanks and I had never heard of Waterbox. I guess if I was still on the forums I would have kept up to date with everything. I used to be on Aquariumlife and another one I can't remember. So awesome to get two tanks that size moved and reset in one day.

I did the same when I had to relocate my 150 gallon mbuna tank. I just hired some professionals. They did a superb job.
For sure! I've moved other tanks in the past and it is one thousand times easier paying professionals to do it. And also somewhat necessary for these tanks

We are moving on 10/6.. do these guys service all of Brisbane? And did it cost you a lot.. I plan to catch the fish myself and the removalist is moving the tank
Yes they do!! The cost was a bit cheaper for me because I was only moving to another townhouse 30m down the road lol. But they are really reasonably priced 😊

Thank you so much Ben 😊 They are both Waterboxes. The black one is a Waterbox Clearpro 7225 (tank and cabinet together), and the other one is a Waterbox Peninsula 7225 which was also the tank and cabinet together

It seriously was! I'm so glad we did it while I'm on holidays as for a couple days before the tanks I was moving furniture. Safe to say I sat down for a whole day after it was all done 😂

Thank you!! To be honest, I didn't feel too stressed because I knew I was in good hands. There were a couple moments though I was definitely a 9-10, but it was mainly me being worried someone was going to injure themselves by accident 🤣

There is a thin layer of foam that the tank has on the bottom of it I believe

Im still flabbergastered at how you managed to lock away the eel in a substrate bag..... poor thing. Was very surprised they didnt use salt in the move to combat osmotic stress on the livestock also-good tip for next time perhaps

I know 😩 I'm so glad he's ok. I probably didn't explain it very well what happened. I had aqua soil in an open filter net bag with plants in it. So as the tank was being drained the bag of soil was removed unknowingly with him in there because he had burrowed into the soil

It's crazy isn't it how things work! I can't believe how when I thought I was unlucky I was actually having the best luck ever but I didn't know it. Thank goodness it didn't work out the first time

I lost them all in the bushfires and didn’t have to move them again, but was able to buy my own place with my insurance from all our possessions being destroyed- including the dog. A positive from a negative situation.
