Congrats on the growth of your channel, visiting Joey will hopefully be a massive step toward a huge new audience! Your content is relevant, informative and entertaining and you are relatable and such a natural presenter! (Sorry to sound like a teacher marking an essay!) A++
Thank you so so much!! I'm also shocked at where this channel has ended up taking me, I never would have thought this would be the case! It means a lot to me you taking the time to write that, I really appreciate it 😊🙏
For me it's very simple I don't go on holidays I'm paranoid I don't trust anyone looking after my fish and I have traveled extensively early on with work love the videos have to watch the U S trip
I used to work FIFO and would be away for two weeks at a time. One of the best things I ever bought were a pair of Eheim auto feeders that I could load with dry food and set and forget. As to lights, I had them set up on a $15 mechanical timer from the local hardware store.
I use the pill case method for feeding. For equipment I have smart strips so I leave an iPad in the fishroom for lights and water changes. Looking forward to seeing the next video.
A couple of suggestions for your tank. Get yourself a power board from Bunnings and use a couple of screws to mount it high up on the inside of your cabinet. That way your cables are neat an up out of the way without any possibility of water splashing them or running down the cables and blowing the fuses. Also forget the Bluetooth app, put your lights on a simple mechanical timer (about $15 from Bunnings) and you’ll never have to worry about them again.
One thing I prefer about wireless lighting setups is gradual ramp up and down of lighting, so it isn't a sudden flick on/off. I like to think it's a bit more natural for the fish (I sync the lights with sunrise and sunset in my locale, giving them 30m to get to full intensity), and it's nicer for people around the house too. One thing worth looking for is a wireless plug which remembers settings. This way, if networks are down or the power is temporarily lost, they'll hum along using the last settings they got. They'll work a bit like a mechanical timer, using the last settings given in perpetuity.
Looks like you have a great person taking care of your babies while you're away. Good time of the year to go to Canada and the Northern States, I know you'll have a great time !!! Montreal has awesome French bakeries and food. The northern States has insane pizza and sub shops, also my favorite seafood along the New England Coast. I always gained weight whenever I worked up there.
hi ther great video yah it was did give me some good ideas cuz I just booked my hand 2 days ago this video just gave me some good ideas how to care for the fish now thank you for this great video / big Roy ❤
Hello, i love your channel, I was wondering if you can provide the list of cichlids you have, and the ratio as well. Also what’s the size of your cichlids tanks and the products you use for set and maintenance. Thanks.
Your next trip come to Kenya, Nairobi. Am your greatest fan we go visit three native homes for African cichlids, that is L. Victoria, Tanganyika and Malawi.
Sorry off topic but did I hear correctly your tank temperature is only 23 deg, is that your normal tank temperature I’ve always thought they had to kept higher up around the 26 deg mark, might explain my high aggression never thought of keeping temp so low
Having to synchronise lights after they're unpluged is such a bad design. Do you have an idea why it's done this way even on expensive lights? Bluetooth light would need a battery to keep track of the time, but if it has WiFi then there is no excuse.
They're fine most of the time, but I have had times where they've been a pain if I've knocked them out. It could be more an issue with my phone's Bluetooth and my super unreliable wifi though than the lights themselves though 😬
@@Kaityscichlids I'm using Fluval and after unplugging (even for a second) the internal clock resets to midnight. It doesn't really forget any settings - the light will turn on after about 8 hours. It seems like an easy fix, and I'd gladly pay even 10% more for the light to continue working so it's hard for me to understand why this isn't done better. Anyway, enough complaining. Thank you for the video. I'm also leaving for 3 weeks next month but both my tanks are heavily planted and understocked so I can just leave them with an auto feeder.
Kaitys is WAY better in person!!!! just sayin'
Thank you Joey 🙌 And thank you so much to you and Tamara for being such incredible hosts!

What wavemakers do you use?
5:35 hi, what is that light bracket holding up the 3 light fixtures? TIA
Hi Alex! That is an Aqua Illumination light fixture with Chihiros lights 😊
Wish you have a happy and safe vacation. I am sure that your fish will be safe and healthy when you return home.
Is Emily taking care of your bird too?

Un beso para esa rubia hermosa, desde Honduras.

How do you get your fish to not jump out?
Konusuna hakim ve bilgili bir arkadaş sanırım. Her ne kadar konuşulanları anlamasamda.
She really is!! I am looking into my options for getting subtitles on my videos so people who speak other languages can enjoy them too 🙏
