Nice collection. I love Timex, too. My mother wore a Timex when she came to Canada in 1967 and my very first watch was a Timex Mickey Mouse watch, followed by a Timex Superman watch. My present-day Timex collection: 1) Timex Command (47mm); 2) Q Timex (classic Pepsi bezel); 3) Timex Marlin (Snoopy edition); 4) Timex American Documents. A typical Timex watch doesn't quite offer the same value that it did back in the day, but the brand will always hold a special place in my heart. And who can forget the legendary slogan.
Firstly, congratulations on the 3000 subscribers. Also, Timex has been upping their game, gradually, for a while now, and I'm glad they're not stopping. It's a bit confusing, as I've always thought of them as affordable and accessible, and yeah, this one's a bit up there. I don't doubt it's a good quality strap, but I agree, a stylish bracelet would have been nice. It's not unusual for microbrands/independents to offer more value, though.
They are definitely known for being an every man’s watch meaning affordable and accessible. I think if they came in lower with the price on this one people would be more apt to jump at the opportunity to try them out as a brand entering luxury category. As it sits now I won’t be getting one of these unless I find a deal on eBay or something
First off Chris, let me add my congratulations on your 3000, and counting, subscribers! Regarding Timex, one of my favorite watches of all time (pardon the pun) was a Timex I bought when I was in grad school - late '70s and early '80s. This was before I became "interested" in watches, so I have no idea what model it was. It was a beautiful two-tone silver and gold, with a white dial and black Roman numerals. I received more comments on that watch than any watch I've ever owned. It stopped working and I never could find someone to fix it. I hung on to it for a while but have no idea what eventually happened to it. I've tried to find that same model for years. I guarantee if I ever find one I will snatch it up, regardless of the price!
Great Timex collection! One of my first watches was a Timex Easy Reader with Indiglow, i I wore that watch when I was in high school and it still ticking!
The S2 is very nice. I have had it in my hands as online it's always hard to tell if it works for you otherwise. I much prefer this to all the homages to the AP Royal Oak. There is a bit of the Universal Geneva Polerouter in there, and maybe some Patek Philippe Code 11:59, but that's all very cool. The black dial is what I found also quite stunning, it is really black. This is achieved by enamel, as on the Cartier Tank Must. The price: many people say, well it's too much for a Timex, and it says Timex on the dial, so that's a problem. In the UK it's £750. Considering the Tissot PRX automatic costs £680 and what you get for that, the Timex is worth it. The point of this watch is that it looks nothing like a Timex. It's for people who have nothing to prove and just like the look of this watch.
Thanks for your thoughts m8! For me it’s priced a little too high but I would definitely need to see it first in person some how before pulling the trigger or find someone here who has reviewed it so I can get a good look that way. I do think it looks fantastic! Over a grand (CAD) might be a little much imo but it looks great!
Thanks so much for the mentions! That's a brilliant looking watch! I love some of the things that Timex has been doing recently. They need to reissue their black dial Marlin manual winders. I love the dial on this and the details of the case. Loving your Timex collection! Great video!
Great content Chris.👍 i my favourite brand is citizen, i just love the eco drive atomic watch. For the price they are exceptional and are probably the most accurate wrist watch in the world with that atomic feature. Set it once to your timezone and never needs setting again so long as it has the light to charge. ! I dunno whether you have experience one of those citizen watches but they are a pig to set. So glad of youtube having all the setting videos. I have a phone app that mimmics the atomic towers which works in the initial setting of atomic watches it great too.!! Just something about the timex name that dosent float my boat im afraid but hey a swiss auto timex just might change my mind if they sort their pricing out ? Okay its a selica movement but it still says timex on the dial which i agree the price is too high.!! Try the blue angels atomic citizen as i really reccomend if you havent.?? I have the UK red arrows version with the H500 atomic movement. Congrats on the channel dude.!!
Thanks Howie, as of now I only have one citizen, eco drive Promaster diver, and I love it! Will def have to check out the atomic eco drives another friend of mine has a couple and loves them! Citizen is a great brand!
I have a love hate relationship with Timex. Several years ago i bought three different Timex watches from the Philippines from Timex stores there. Sadly all failed due to QC issues, relating to weak crowns and stems. Even though I returned them for repair under warranty the issues were not fully addressed. One was an Automatic with power reserve gauge (that failed) and two (male and females sizes) with Indiglo, both stems seized within 9 months. I think given your reviews I would again consider a high end Timex, nothing less and preferably not made in the Philippines. Your reviews have given me hope.
I have heard the same thing about watches that come from there! Not sure where this one is assembled but it is “Swiss made” so there’s that, but we do know that doesn’t necessarily mean it was assembled there. I had one issue with a Timex watch, a chronograph watch that I bought from Joma shop. Not sure where it was assembled. Not sure how to get ones that are assembled elsewhere or if Timex has them all done from Phillipines I will look into this!
I have to agree Chris, the price is on the upper side of what seems 'fair'. It is really pretty. My 2 cents on the topic are as follows. Timex is known for having pretty questionable customer support and qa on their automatic pieces. If they use the 'inflated' price to fund extra customer support for their 'premium line' products, then maybe this is a positive. Unfortunately, given the fact that basically all their mechanical watches tend to be overpriced for what they are, I am not too optimistic.
I’ve heard the same argument that their other mechanical watches are over priced, to some extent I disagree, as I feel despite the 8200 miyota that they use they are priced to match the market for the most part. My gut tells me people assosciate Timex with the “cheap” every man’s watch, perhaps they are attempting to garner a more positive rep, and in some cases with certain watches I feel that they are. This one however, definitely over priced, they need to garner more trust before expecting people to payout that much
@@MirrlyonTime That's why I said that I think it would be a very cool idea if Timex split off a sub-brand for their more premium offerings. Maybe not even a sub-brand, but more like a consistent line with higher end pieces. Right now, I wouldn't buy an auto or mechanical Timex due to their really bad customer support and quality assurance record. If they start off a new division with impeccable customer service, clearly described movements etc, that'd be a move in the right direction imho. You are right. As of right now, I'd buy a weekender, a waterbury (light that gorgeous chrono you have) or an ironman without a second thought. Because in the 100-ish EUR range I can understand their customer support. But in the 1000 EUR range they are competing with CW, entry level Sinns and stuff like that.
Im a fan of timex myself, wore them for decades and have purchased a few timex solar watches in the last few years. I’ve always felt timex automatics were way overpriced, but with only a miyota 8215 in them they ask to much for them.
Yeah I mostly agree I think the range of automatics with the 8215 are priced competively but yeah, that movement isn’t a fan favourite. It would be awesome to see Timex come up with their own automatic movement that would be an even bigger step up!
@@MirrlyonTime I like the updated hacking 8215, and those watch manufacturers that use it need to advertise that they use it but I still prefer the nh35. I’ve been looking at timex automatics, but they always seem to be priced over $200 and they typically use 304 stainless so it’s a lesser quality watch. They really need to listen to the Watch community and up their game.
Fun fact: Casio copied the Timex in the form of illuminator or Indigo originally. Casio also copied ds system straight from iconic Certina ds in the form of G shock. Casio also copied the Citizen to every detail in the form of tough solar. Casio also shamelessly copied the iconic G757 which they sell a shit tone as Casio royale.Did you know also that Casio more or else started as hommage brand to early Seiko Digi watches. Btw: Galli S1 Timex probably has the most original case along with Tuna and Monster.

I really like that orange Timex you have. Great looking and a bit funky.
The new Swiss movement option looks really interesting
It is really nice waiting for a sale on this one or a deal elsewhere thanks pal!

Congratulations on the 3K milestone. Awesomeness!!!! I want this new Timex, but...I don't want to pay for it. LOL
I know right? 1400 CAD is a little too high for this one, but it is sharp!
That’s a gorgeous watch. And thanks for sharing your collection. I really don’t know much about Timex. I really like that Chronograph. Thanks!
The chronograph is a real beaut that or the q Timex chronograph are awesome the q one is virtually the same
