Jack I absolutely agree about wanting a 2018 version of all the classic battles we grew up in awe of. I want Normandy, Bastonge, Stalingrad, Iwo Jima, Arnhem, B-17s over Europe but with modern graphics and physics.
And customization similar to MoH Allied Assault, they had multiple uniforms based on rank and profession....there's so much customization they could've added and still pleased those of us that wanted an authentic WW2 experience.
TheStr5010 are you sure you don’t just want throwing knives and reskinned maps and women that scream horribly every time you kill them? Cuz that’s what you’re getting. -love dice
You hit the nail on the head when talking about the lack of famous battles. I want to storm the beaches of Iwo Jima as Marines on landing craft and fight through the rubbled streets of Stalingrad etc etc.
Exactly, I was looking forward in seeing the M1 Garand in this modern graphics and sound design. As well as the Pacific and the Eastern front but I guess it's going to be another year of waiting
I could care less I've seen that before tons of times I want battles and locations that don't get the same treatment as D-Day to be featured, it wasn't just the US fighting in the war, it's called World War 2 for a reason.
You really hit the nail on the head when talking about OG battlefield players wanting a modern version of the ww2 games we grew up with. I certainly feel that way and it's nice too see others do too.
A WW2 Game without Nazis is a joke. Anyone with at least half a functional brain can clearly see that this game isn't worth the price. Those who buy it b4 more content is released or at least shown what to expect in the future are to blame for the current state of this industry.
@@itsoldtyde I have very fond memories of that game! For me, the most nostalgic is MoH AA and the Omaha beach mission. I would love to see that in the frostbite engine.
I think they should’ve done it the other way around. They should’ve given us the iconic ww2 stories at launch, and released the ‘never-told-before’ stories in tides of war. I think a lot of people would’ve been happier with that
Jazzu Hmm. I just thought of this. I wonder when Fake News Websites like Buzzfeed and Vox will claim Teeth Whitening is White Supremacy.. Because drinking Milk is already..
I like that they're giving the spotlight to the unknown moments. If they had the famous battles, they would overshadow the stories the creative team want to tell
Love me some jackfrag vids.. but I feel this is that sort of HONEYMOON speech about a game.. I'm disappointed in the game. Thank you! This is the first time I've seen anybody mention it. I don't even understand what it is supposed to be, why is your character looking at the ammo and health kits like that? Really unimmersive imo

Your comments about it not having those iconic/nostalgic WW2 maps/locations/weapons, is actually the reason im not buying the game on launch. Im going to wait to see if that content is added. Because thats what i want in a WW2 game. BF5 im sure plays much differently than BF1 but to me when i see the game i think of BF1 not a WW2 game.
Yep completely agree.. none of the theaters seem somewhat interesting... i would have loved to see some pacific content in a mainstream game finally.. even some russian fronts.. but no.. they go for smaller.. (somewhat)insignificant battles
It's hilarious cause as soon as I listened to the first minute of the video I stopped watching and looked through the comments for exactly this comment.
As much as I want to get the new battlefield game....something just doesn't feel right. I can't tell if its the theme or the feel. Somethings just off.
they need to stop with this WWI shit. they aced it back in the original games, and should focus on modern/futuristic stuff. that's what's keeping me from buying these new ones. they look so boring.
I miss a little detail they had in Battlefield 1942 and it's the fact that if you play on the GERMAN side, you have ONLY GERMAN guns. BRITISH side = BRITISH guns. Etc... It really felt like you were actually fighting for a side. Now it doesn't matter what side you are, you can have any gun you like. I think it's strange to have a german soldier shooting with a Bren. Or a British soldier with a MP40.
Yeah, I mean if you're going to criticize it for immersion breaking, or for historical inaccuracies, there's a lot you could go on about. But I'm sure everyone is sick of hearing about it by now, lol.
Even if it’s not the same moments from the most famous WWII movies, I at least hope that the _most influential_ moments are in the game (big Russian maps, jungle maps and island landing, D-Day, etc.). Battlefield has always been about giant, awesome battles-to focus the game on little auxiliary “never-before-seen” moments seems to directly conflict with Battlefield’s core spirit: all out combined arms warfare which could be best represented by the most influential conflicts humanity has ever before seen. Your opinion is spot-on Jack.
Some of you people are confused on why this and why that.. Let me explain why... Battlefield 3 have this combat feelings, that makes you stay. Battlefield 4 have this combat feelings, that makes you stay but not as much as .3 Battlefield 1 was trash, to the loyal 3 and 4 fan-base. Battlefield 5 is following, the roots of Battlefield 3 and 4. Sorry to say for you fans but to the main-loyal ones that is still filling up the 3 and 4 servers they need us more then you.
@Christopher Huber i think its bc its the easiest to game balance, what are your alternatives? WW1 would only be fun to play if you made it extremely inaccurate and at + 20% speed. Sword eras are yet to be mastered in gameplay. Gimme RTS lol
Be like me and read history books or read it straight from Wikipedia, especially info about the weaponry aka what im interested same with the battles... Tho i still read JoJo but hey dont slaughter me for that
Derrick Griffin actually, what you just said is like lucas films making a star wars movie, and then people saying it's not a star wars movie. Battlefield 5 has been made by the same developers as the rest of the games, so how is this not a battlefield game?
@@liambanning3674 They don't mean it literally idiot. They're saying it doesn't match with the same feeling they got from the previous battlefields kinda how like you could kill off your entire original cast in the sequel to a movie(star wars) and have a new shit characters replace them.
They never once said this was a direct recreation of WW2? Clearly it’s an FPS set in that time period but I think it’s very loosely based on WW2. Which is fine it’s a video game. Let them have fun with how they want to recreate a time periods conflicts. There’s already soooo many WW2 games out there that follow everything about it very strictly. You want to play the same game for the thousandth time go play one of those.
@Char Aznable I don't think anyone was created using premium human breeding stock to tell us on a genetic level that Nazi's were the only part of WWII and that this quality is a premium condition of our biological nature...
passie29 what are you talking about you have no idea how their uniforms looked properly most the footage you see from the wehrmacht is propoganda anf that shows the best units in the freshest uniforms and gear. During stalingrad the wehrmacht would make loads of alterations to uniforms in order to fight and survive in the russian winter like actually using russian winter gear
I'm not buying it until it's on a deep discount because I don't agree with the direction of the studio and the publisher. However, if you are picking it up, I hope it lives up to your expectations otherwise it's all downhill from here.
It’s a shame bc there is some aspects they changed that I sorta like for example the ammo and health changes but that’s about as far as praise I’ll think about giving the game Dk if I’ll buy it yet
@@Dylan-vy8wj Its the fact BF took that step closer to more of a $25 arcade like game. I miss the more mature BF games. Visuals.mean nothing if it plays like Fortnite in a realistic scene. We like world war 2 because it was the most epic war of all time. When you make a WW2 game, you have to capture the feeling of it otherwise no one will want to play it because there is not much else to keep you interested. The gun customization at the time is non existent compared to modern war, even the vehicles are less fun because they are all analog. People like WW2 guns and vehicles because of nostalgia, and this game fails at giving you that feeling. If I can't role play as a WW2 soldier than why would I want to play with inferior guns and vehicles. And tides of war would of been way cooler if it was D Day, and the push on Berlin going back and forth and pushing Islands in the Pacific and retreating. How can you fuck this up DICE?
TheHovster7 ooooo be very careful of your phrasing there kiddo, it was not an, “epic” war, it was horrific being cramped in a trench for months on end covered in shit and piss no showers, gas, diseases, Trench foot, PTSD, insanity. Isnt it obvious as to why they havent added those iconic battles, weapons, factions and vehicles? They'll use it to pull the players back in after launch. Since they arent doing premium pass they need some way to guarantee revenue throughout the games life.
What happens when there isn’t enough people playing the DLC? In BF1 you literally only got to play DLCs when they came out because people stop playing and you are stuck playing the classic maps. So why not make the classic maps those iconic battles?
The only thing I could notice was how disgusting those gold skins looked. I know it's subjective, but I'll never understand gold skins. Not very tasteful.
People like gold skins because (as long as there is an engraving or something so it's not entirely gold) it goes with every color and usually looks nice outside and not many people will be using it
I suppose I'd put this question forward... Why don't you want your gun to look like an actual functional weapon? Something that would actually be used in the virtual conflicts you partake in.
The game seems so bright making things almost look animated. A subjective opinion but the style of graphics don't mesh with what I picture when I think about a WW2 atmosphere.
A gigantic step backwards from Battlefield 1 and it's immersive qualities... the historical aspect of BF1 was the best. WWII is a war that historians are really picky about, if you aren't accurate people tend to hate it.
I could say the same to you. If you want light WW2 fun with guns go play Call of Duty. I think everyone can agree that the battlefield games always tried to be a bit more on the immersive side than other fps shooters. That is the reason a lot of people like the game. It is valid to have criticisms if you think that a game you enjoy is stepping away from some of the attributes that you personally think is part of what makes that game good. Tired of always seeing comments along the lines of "if you don't like it don't play it" or "go play some other game if that's what you want" as a way of telling people they shouldn't criticize something and just accept it for what it is.
Very appreciative of this video, Jack. You acknowledged the core fan base who grew up with BF1942, and films like SPR, EOTG, and miniseries like BOB. Your words mirrored my feelings toward BFV. It looks and plays like an amazing BF experience, but it just doesn't feel like a WWII game. It's especially a shame for fans like me who have been waiting since BF1942 for another full fledged WWII BF game. BF1943, a casual throw-away-game, feels much more like a WWII experience than BFV. Untold stories is something I want, but the complete absence of iconic battles along with over-the-top customization isn't working for this setting. The core gameplay is headed in the right direction (back in the right direction I should say), but the politics along with the need to compete with Fortnite have held the series back.
Agreed 100% it amazes me how a mod that was made 15 years ago (forgotten hope) is 10 times more realistic than this shit. I thought by now games would have improved. I don't care about shiny graphics. I want good game play. BF1 was beautiful but gutless. No substance. A polished turd.
Thanks for making this one Jack, I wholeheartedly agree with your opinion on the lack of classic maps/battles/ and weapons. I think the Tides of War will ultimately make or break the game, especially if they are moving towards a chronological approach. Regardless, I'm looking forward to getting my hands on it and bringing it to my channel! Cheers mate!
Your opinion on the feeling of the game is valid. I feel that opinion just watching gameplay, that lack of dramatization and sincere ww2 effects. Why do they split the initial player base with all this early access nonsense? Jack says that Dice have scrapped premier then at the end says he's off to play BF5 early access premier. So we get Origin Access Premier on 9th Nov. then V Deluxe edition giving those whose purchase early enlister access on 15th Nov. Then the peasants with their normal BF5 editions - me included - get access on 20th Nov. So from the off, late access puts you at a distinct disadvantage with all those early enlister players having early map knowledge, a feel for the movement and gunplay mechanics, not to mention a chance to upgrade all their guns. They need to stop this early access BS and put everyone on a level playing field at launch - after all, I thought this was supposed to be one big story that put everyone together on the Battlefield with this Tides of War story implementation!?
Throwing knives were in BF in BF1942 back in 2002, well before they were in CoD or any other multiplayer game. Throwing knives are technically a "BF thing"

lol considering this is practically the same as every other BF that's come out in the last years it makes no sense that bf FANS are complaining about it :))
IIIiiiDAWiiiIII okey guys, gameplay balance is irrelevant, we need to make it realistic. Any weapon is a 1 hit kill unless shot in the leg or arm, where you will bleed out over the course of the match. You also take 4x longer to reload, you can throw grenades half as far, you get shellshock from loud noises, the shockwave from explosions 50 meters away will rupture your lungs, health kits dont restore health, you have to manually raise flags and you dont respawn.
@@justgold4113 OP said "awesome graphics" like they innovated something. They didn't. Looks like BF1 to a T. Although, i haven't seen this game with RTX.
Dude, I've been using throwing knives in every fps game since 007. They're really not skill based at all. All you gotta do is get the player remotely close to the center of your screen and it's a 1 hit kill. I had a 3 KD in CoD games with those as my weapons.
Bf2 needs to be remastered if anything. Honestly I’d rather them change up the art style and map design and make a new game. We get it bf3 was your first bf experience and the nostalgia goggles are in full effect for you, but the game has serious issues and isn’t as good as you remember.

I'm actually heartbroken, because all I wanted from this game was a modern frostbite-era take on the most epic fights of WW2. The idea of a perfectly executed, 64 player Omaha Beach assault makes my arm hairs all fuzzy. The ardennes could also be a very cool setting for one or more maps and maybe even a new game mode? In the ardennes the americans were generally understrength with almost no supplies while the germans were desperate after more oil. This could've been something Dice could play around with.
Hi Jack!! I started watching your videos 3 years ago and the first video of yours that I saw was a BF4 video called "A Dance with Dragons". Fingers crossed!
they would make VCs with robotic arms and US army would be full of women and transgender hippies And if we complain about it we would be called "uneducated" by the developer
The beta ruined the chance me of me getting this game. The low ammo is just annoying, I hate what they've done to the assault and medic loadouts and it just didn't feel good to play.
You Said it yourself "Didn't" The game is almost completely different, tough the core gameplay is the same, the battlefield experience. If you didn't like it I think it's because you are getting sick of the same core gameplay, the franchise in a hole. *But that's just my opinion*
Attrition and the health system is something I think the game did right. Attrition makes you have to be more skillful with your ammunition and it makes you find a weapon that will suit you better in terms of effectiveness; with the factors being fire rate, accuracy, and range. It will also encourage you to use secondary weapons and plan out how to move to a munitions station using cover and/or support by teammates without being attacked heavily. You might even need to become a medic or support class to supply your team, depending on how many are in the game on your team (knowing that possibly now assault and recon classes are going to be the most popular). This encourages diversity among classes and makes the most robust team win. The health system is okay as well. I believe it is not great given the short time to kill, but it is realistic. I believe it was made better from the beta. If you get shot and sustain damage from certain weapons your recovery should be reflective of the damage done, and should not be fully replenished over time. The question now becomes how many supply stations are around the map and how to get to them staying alive which will require thought, and/or whether players see the medic and support classes as needed based on the location of those supply stations and team/squad play style (which includes the populations of given classes on a team) if a player is playing within a squad or team. If you are running solo you will have to be more skillful in your decision makingof working around the map and conservation of munitions to live. Overall, the system is good. I believe it is reflective of a real battle scenario and will force players to think more about how and why they are using munitions and whether or not they can use the class attributes within the framework of a squad or team to stay alive. These systems also encourage you to learn the maps well. Attrition and the health system is a tool to make players great all-around at weapon and class tactics that Battlefield V presents.
Jack, I absolutely loved the comments / argument that you brought up about how this game is not "The WWII experience we are used to from the movies" And I think you hit the nail on the head with it. I do feel like its a big reason for peoples discontent with the game setting / environment. Will it come later? It better or its a big miss. Love your content! Keep it up!
He mentioned the pacific, m1 garands, russians and the things we are all used to see, and I don't think dice is stupid enough to not include that part of ww2.
Instant PR fix for DICE: Provide servers running Back to Basics/Hardcore mode at all times. Standard issue uniforms, weapons and character models, higher bullet damage, limited HUD. Give people options on how they approach the game and allow for more realistic immersive gameplay. It won't fix the lack of content, the lack of iconic weapons and locations, the bugs, the delays, the horrific marketing, the unnecessary changes and so on but would be a good step towards getting some hype for a WWII game.
Additional options: More War Stories that actually tell "untold stories". Russian female snipers, Japanese-American GI's, Italians fighting the Russians, etc. Release BF1 maps that would also be in WWII to bolster content at launch (obviously without Behemoths and with BFV vehicles and character models). Consider simply scrapping the idea of chronological battles and come out with a pack of iconic maps (the ones Jack mentioned) ASAP to get people hyped. Same goes for weapons. Consider a Secret Weapons of WWII pack as a goodwill measure for fans of the original Battlefield 1942. Or even go full Halo and remaster iconic maps from Battlefield 1942. Trying to offer helpful ideas instead of just shitposting.
i actually love all the changes and the game the way it is , but i agree a hardcore mode is needed in every battlefield game , and making it standard weapons and characters uniforms etc without the bullshit should be a game mode
or buy Day of Infamy, if you want hardcore FPS game set in WW2. No hud (like really no hud, only objectives at bottom), all guns except smgs and pistols are one hit, one kill, it's historically accurate (maps, units, weapons), german characters speak german, no female characters and sound design beats every other FPS I have ever played. Drawbacks are low player count (not a problem in Europe and US) and dated graphics (it's made on Source engine). But gameplay and especially gunplay is unrivalled. For me, best FPS I have ever played. But it is small scale combat, no vehicles. Check it out, costs 12.50$ on Steam, goes on sale often (I bought it for 5$).

It doesn't need more time. This game looks alot more polished than any other recent bf released. What it does need is a overhaul in the mechanics and make it play like bf3 or 4. I personally think bf4 is not only the best battlefield but the most fun game I've ever played. It's sad, really sad.
I agree with you 100%. The gameplay looks really good, some small critiques I have but overall looks fun and engaging with depth. The maps and graphics themselves overall seem nice too, but the lack of iconic WW2 maps, vehicles, and guns is both noticeable and unfortunate. It just doesn't feel like a WW2 game that people wanted, and in some ways, doesn't even feel like a WW2 game in the first place. First impressions are important, and for a lot of people, their first impressions will be the maps.
Thanks for the video. You just confirmed what I suspected. It is a hybrid battlefield game that I have no interest in. I am an OG Battlefield player. Played em all. Bought them all.I wanted 1942 remastered in a fresh and new way. I wanted classic WW2 look, feel, and expected the video game version of Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan as you mentioned. And because they didn't. Because they chose to make this altered reality version with reflex sights, inaccurate history, and altered reality...its NO sale for me. @@juanrendon3868 if that's your mindset... the total casualty from both sides in the norwegian campaign is about 12,000. The Polish casualty in the Poland Campaign alone is nearly *one million*, not to mention the heroic feat of their horse mounted regiments in an era of mechanized warfare... So yes, I do hope that DICE would represent them more in this game. Here's hoping for a Warsaw Uprising map in the future. ✌️
I actually like it. You have to pick your battles wisely. In older bf it felt like I had unlimited ammo. I like having to manage my ammo. I like be able to carry a health kit with any class. I like having to loot dead bodies for ammo. Like like like!
I agree that it would have been great had they included classic WW2 locations and events in the release. But, I am still excited about playing BF5 and I love some of the maps. BF still creates some of the best environments I've ever seen in FPS war based games.
Honestly Greece has me excited since its been confirmed to focus on the Battle of Crete, which the Forgotten Hope mods would always end up having fun maps based on the battle so seeing what DiCE does with it has me interested. It's interesting how you explained your feelings about people growing up with the original COD or Band of Brothers and all that would make them less excited about the game since we're not jumping straight into the "Greatest Hits", but since I played the Forgotten Hope mods for both the original BF42 and BF2 ALOT (even joining a community group that would get together to make tournaments) that focused on the "lesser known" battles of the war is why I'm so excited to see AAA version of the Fall of France and the early desert campaigns (unfortunately not as much as I would have liked since the lack of French and Italians running around) and what battles DICE will use when they get to Russia (Sevastopol HYPE) and the Pacific.

Im sticking with Battlefield 4. Modern shooters are the best imo
People like WW2 guns and vehicles because of nostalgia, and this game fails at delivering that.

You do realize this isnt a world war 2 game right?
You have to be kidding....
notformebeaky yea but when you think ww2, D-Day and the siege of Stalingrad come to mind. It would just be nice to be able to play something like that in grand operations on day one
notformebeaky what about no Russian troops? They played a massive part in ww2 and they are not in the game! Even iconic ww2 weapons like the m1 garland, svt-40, mosin nagant, and pp-sh didn’t make it to the game.
@notformebeaky They should've waited to release it until it had all that in my opinion. That's why people say games are lacking content now. Companies are releasing in time for holidays instead of making the game whole and entertaining. If this game had a slice of every front in WW2 it would've been up for game of the decade. But, you know, gotta make that $$$

The gaming industry is a business. They don't give a shit about players as long as people are retarded enough to buy these "deluxe editions"

@@jamiealexandermiller Balance of what? idiotic mechanic like throwing knife in ww and kill some1 from 50m? are you fucking serious?
IIIiiiDAWiiiIII okey guys, gameplay balance is irrelevant, we need to make it realistic. Any weapon is a 1 hit kill unless shot in the leg or arm, where you will bleed out over the course of the match. You also take 4x longer to reload, you can throw grenades half as far, you get shellshock from loud noises, the shockwave from explosions 50 meters away will rupture your lungs, health kits dont restore health, you have to manually raise flags and you dont respawn.
