Pls be careful using acetone if your device is made from plastic it will immediately melt the plastic, found this out the hard way painting my cousins nails and watching video on my tablet and she knocked over the acetone/nail polish remover onto the table and it instantly melted and the tablet did not work after that 😂

This is true, but acetone doesn’t dissolve all plastics, just ones that are chemically similar to acetone itself like pvc. Otherwise they wouldn’t be able to put it in plastic bottles. Rubbing alcohol may also degrade certain plastics or other materials, so it’s always important to know what will or will not be affected by your solvent of choice.

Rubbing alcohol did not do a thing but mineral oil took off residue in record time. Thank you so much for the tip.

Rubbing alcohol and acetone are SO different. I’d try rubbing alcohol, but I wouldn’t use acetone on my computer - I’ve seen that stuff melt tv remotes.

I tried nail polish, alcohol, and dawn dish liquid. Unfortunately none of them got the sticky stuff off completely 😩. I'm going to try some oil now 😆

Rubbing alcohol(it's not acetone BTW)doesnt really do much for removing residue. I use WD40 for removing sticker residue and rubbing alcohol for removing WD40 residue. Ive also heard vinegar works really well but I havent tried it.

I’ve always used germx to get the residue off. Works like a charm and doesn’t leave any marks behind!!

Better if you put a 3 layer lamination on the back of your laptop, I always laminate my Chromebook before putting new stickers, I do get some bubble, but the fade in a few days also makes my laptop more shinier

Blow dryer or heat gun did the trick as well. Just don't leave it on one spot for too long

Hi, my new laptop came with a large sticky label covering some of the keys and this has left awful sticky gunk. What can I use to remove the sticky without damaging my laptop? Thank you x

You can try alcohol wipes or a slightly damp paper towel. Make sure the paper towel or wipe is not oversaturated with liquid to avoid damaging the electronics. You can also try scraping with a credit card and wiping away the leftover glue with a paper towel. Hope this helps!

acetone will work, but honestly do not do it. acetone straight up eats so many things. acetone on plastic will make your plastic go bye bye immediately and get all gummy and gross.
