Same it's so fun watching them play this story out. Jason Carl is one of the best out there. I've re-watched the previous seasons 3x over since Season 4 ended so yeah I would say I'm ready for the next season.
I didn't get to watch this live, but my question to Cynthia would be: How did she find herself into this online role-playing gig? It's like actor, actor, actor, aerospace engineer.
All of these people are ridiculously gorgeous/photogenic, which is what I thought upon seeing them. Noura blew me away because Ib is very understated, and then Noura shows up and I go "Good lord, that's what Ib looks like if she 'cleans up'?!" Which makes Victor's comment "Who'd want to be without all this" *indicating Ib* make a LOT more sense. Not that Ib was unattractive, (I liked her as a character when Jason was playing her) but now I'm like.."Wow."
I love Huddy's recaps! Eva's biggest fear is to turn into Strauss and yet she's started wearing red...Oh, the symbolism! Also, I need more scenes between Nelly and Brad they're just hilarious. Ib is such a Cammy (who knew) and she will be the perfect antagonist for the Valley Coterie once they come to blows. Drama, drama... Jasper siding with X and not Anabelle was something I didn´t expect. We all know the to the LAbyNight fandom Jasper is their favorite sad boy and Anabelle´s character can be at times a bit unnerving, so I'm team Jasper all the way.
Oh noooo, when Alex mentions how hard it is to get into Jasper's state because he was feeling better at this point... oof!! I hope things are still looking up for you, man! Great interview. I am going to miss having these guys together... please if you're all interested in guesting in future shenanigans, I would be delighted. And Jason, thank you for the delightful storytelling. If you'd be up to another production I would love to follow!
Well, I guess I'll be watching seasons 1-4 for the fifth or sixth time. YAY! This series is amazing, Jason Carl and the cast are nothing short of legendary. I would be psyched out of my mind if I had the chance to play with them.
I haven't missed the cast because I have watched and enjoyed so many great games from this wonderful cast that aren't LA by Night. But, I am so hyped for the next season of LAbN! Even the Winter's Teeth and various appearances in other Vampire games can't replace the glory that is the Valley coterie.
It's rough being a fan of this series, it's like looking for a needle in a haystack trying to stay up to date. X_X Still happy to see everything's alright with them.
42:55 I'm with Cynthia. I think that L.A. by Night with its amazing cast and even more amazing storyteller has raised the bar for RPGs to unimaginable heights, effectively spoiling the play with your avarage group at home for so many.
Minneapolis and St. Paul are both in Minnesota. Not sure where you got the idea that Wisconsin has anything to do with it. Also, the Winter's Teeth session didn't take place in either city. Having nitpicked, I am super excited for season 5! I friggin' love this cast and the story Jason has cobbled together from their glorious madness!
I wish we had something like this interview/AMA thingy with Erika and B. Dave. Regarding B. Dave because I love his playstyle and I also really like Victor. But most importantly Erika, because Annabelle is the character in LAbN that I struggle the most to wrap my head around.
Unfortunately, Erika and BDave couldn't be with us for this interview because of scheduling conflicts. Maybe we'll have another chance to include them, someday!
I've loved watching this serie and honestly I was under the impression everything was scripted. I like Critical role because it really feels a lot more like your very own roleplaying adventure with goofiness happening all the time, and I love LA by night because although it not as close to home, is an amazing show. I hope to see again all the cast members doing another Vampire story after the closure of this one. Everyone is amazing. PS: Is Jason Carl sometimes the player at the table? If so, how many notes is he taking? :p
Thank you! We consider it a big compliment whenever people say they think our story is scripted. :) Our format for LA by Night is a bit different than most TTRPG actual plays, so we can understand why people might think that.
@38:17 how do ypu prep for an episode as Jasper. Alex spent half an episode on screen in torpor! He literally did nothing but did it significantly! It was like a Beckett nightmare. And I refer to Samuel Beckett here not the gangrel historian. Even doing nothing atvall he had an ominous presence.
It might be interesting and useful for Baroness Nellie to find out if Theodsia Goodman (Theda Bara), the famous Toreador silent film star, is still in town.
It's interesting and a little amusing to me that when they were talking about private games that the actors just want silly fun games. The one player with a "real" job is disappointed by the silly unfocused private games. It makes total sense but it was interesting to hear them talk about it.
Disappointed is the wrong way to put it. Cynthia seems to enjoy silly games as well as silly games. Just look at her appearances on The Caylx. I think that she is more invested in the serious games because she doesn't get to play very often.
Cythia Marie is so so different..I really would like to know how she changed.. like she says.. she didn't care about family.. then who she is now. Jasper is in with Eva .. what
It's a good question and an interesting discussion topic. I tend to run almost every home game like I run LA by Night or, sometimes, the way I run Seattle by Night.
My question, "Is this show more of a Chapter based story, or a Soap Opera. Cause those stingers make me feel lie its an episode of "The Bold and the Beautiful" or the Young and the Restless...
I feel a little cheated this is last season as I'm sure myself and many other viewers will never find out where Smiling Jack, Salvador Garcia, Jeremy Mc Neil and others are and we've been asking since season 1. I feel we were just supposed to forget about them while these new characters take their places.
What is canon. What is accepted into canon. In home games, I imagine most will have very different stories. LA by Night being a streamed game has to flirt with that line without revealing what the game hasn't yet. I love the Masquerade of the Red Death series written by Joel Rosenberg, but find that V5 and other storylines haven't embraced it as canon. Sadly.
I didn't include them because they are not important to this particular LA by Night story. They are someplace else, doing other stuff. This story about these particular vampires - Jasper, Nelli, Victor, X, Eva, and Annabelle - in this particular place and time.
@@vampiresnvino Will there be a updated La By Night sourcebook in the future? I'd love to see other places in California, especially Sacramento since I live there and I'd think the capital city of CA would have some Vampires around.
I hope next season has someone address the hypocrisy of the main coterie Jasper was a murderer in life and is a murderer in death. He once had the self-awareness to know just what he was, but Annabelle's unrelenting bias seems to have convinced him that he is a good person just because he is on her side. He is still easily the best of the anarchs, by which I mean the only one I don't wish the final death to Nelli was chosen then forgotten by Chaz. He stayed with her for however long before getting bored and moving on to somebody new, leaving her with nothing to her name other than immortality, superhuman vampire powers and presumably masses and masses of money. In response to this, bearing in mind that the forth tradition exists, she hunted down her replacement, a completely innocent fledgling in the exact same position that she herself had been in, and committed the single most despised sin the the damned are capable of. and of course to further balance the scales of justice after Chaz's cruel response of doing nothing, she went with some lovely premeditated murder. Seriously, Nelli is a piece of shit Then there is victor. Victor is pathetic. Victor was outshined at Elysium by a Nosferatu who kills and abducts people for an unliving and has a haven in a sewer. And I mean really outshinned, jasper handled himself like an expert and victor handled himself like a child. Like people keep saying how the prince supposedly broke the rules of Elysium by using disciplines but they never mention how victor broke the 2nd tradition of domain by flat out ignoring a direct command from the prince of the city three times. By that point Vanavar could have executed him and been fine by the traditions. That incident also showed something he and Annabelle have in common, namely a complete lack of understanding of the differences between dealing with immortals against mortals. Am I the only one who thought that when Victor walked up and tried to start talking about the convention of thorns as a reason for everyone to do what he wanted, Strauss just saying "I was there, you know nothing of what you speak" was the single most beautiful put down in the series? Not to mention how it perfectly highlighted victor's lack of understanding of eternal politics. The other thing that does that is the fact that victor joined the anarchs at all. He clearly isn't there for ideological reasons, he just found the camarila too tough and ran away, hoping he could get more easy power among the shitty anarchs, as evidence of which I put forth Fiorenza, a ventrue who was embraced at around the same time as him and yet has become infinitely more powerful, who victor constantly references as though trying to pretend that they are some kind of equals. And ever since Annabelle showed up preaching for all out war on victor's behalf, he's found plenty of easy power and exercised it exactly as you would expect. Dominating his friends, beating down anyone who would challenge his authority within his domain and killing anyone he can get away with. The only difference between Victor temple and the most despotic camarila princes is that most of the latter are competent. And last there is Annabelle. The fledgling that has never in her unlife experienced anything other than her own coterie and yet is unshakable in her conviction that everyone outside her bubble of murderers and coconspirators is evil and wrong. The one who has been rallying the downtrodden to rise up and fight against the oppressors, except she's never met the oppressors and the downtrodden are monsters who eat people. The one who has gradually convinced her cannibalistic nosferatu that its okay to kill and eat people and even lock them up in your basement while you eat them so long as you also help her goals and do what she wants you to. The one who knows for a fact that she and anyone on her side have to be the good guys, and that this even applies to vigilante street thugs who gun down anyone they don't like in their neighborhood so long as they are also cool biker ladies. The one who claims to be a pacifist and refused to kill for a while, although during that while she did take part in a couple of assassinations and cheer her friends on through no end of murders. The one who heard about a prophecy and offhandedly dismissed it as superstition, and hear I need to pause for a moment to state clearly how earth shatteringly stupid that is. SHE IS A VAMPIRE!
Ok... You realize that the show addresses their hypocrisy like every episode right? Like that's a big part of playing vampires? Also if you think Fiorenza is REALLY victors age are you paying attention at all? Ib outed her. She said she has known her regnant since the end of world War one, SIGNIFICANTLY older than Victor though by all rights she seems much younger on paper. I 100% convinced whoever used to be Fiorenza doesn't exist anymore. She's Hardestadt having cheated death again and continuing to hold all the cards behind the curtain. That's my theory. How could Ib have been bound to someone that wasn't born yet?
