I think the trick with Worms is to go into them only a little bit, so you can lure out big units and switch into a hacker/fang/fortress stlye composition.
Sandstorm was missing in my opinion but I also have this feeling of how broken Melting point is... It came down as lv 1 and started to bully your lv 5 worm. Like come on, this should have been an easy win considering your tempo. I believe Melting point is fundamentally broken...
I would disagree with worms being bad. They're actually pretty good against things like melting point, hacker, steel balls, but you need to be able to have them always moving so that they break the lock ons from those units. If your opponent has spread out forces its great, if they have things clustered together your worms are exposed too long. Placing them back further can help by allowing more separation of enemy units.
I think more what happened here is just an intensive training game. you used your intensive training and module for eco and unit count, they had two so got to keep equal on eco while also getting a massive exp advantage. worms do fine into melting points, but not when all the worms are lvl 1 and all the melters are lvl 2.
The Worms aren't bad, Larvae are. Both of the spawning techs are absolute trash on the Worm, IMHO you lost round 8 when you went Replicate instead of Sandstorm. The Sandstorm would have forced Munqst's Typhoons to retarget off of your carrying Boats from losing the range to keep shooting at them. The Larvae just don't have anywhere near the health to justify using it as a "chaff defense" with Replicate nor are dangerous enough to justify using supply for Mech Div on the premise of having your Worms die. Then spending the next 2 rounds overspending on spamming low level worms instead of giving your existing leveled worms the debuff utility or attacking power of Sandstorm or Rage only sealed it as a loss.
@surreyEZ nice vid; haven't had a chance to play the patch yet so I appreciate some footage of the new worms. What do you think of the crawler nerf? Justified?
its not the new worms unfortunately, this was played yesterday just before the patch! But i dont think the patch would change this gameplay. Yes crawlers were super op, they should have probably nerfed them more
Just curious, what triggered you to go overlord this game? I honestly have not been finding much use for them outside of a counter to scorpions or spamming photon coating if I expect emp. If I need something that's good against medium units I usually just go balls, scorpion, or fort. I just got to 1400 mmr by watching your videos recently; I use your website every time I play. Thank you!
Think round 8 might have finished em off with Mech Rage / Regen on those worms? The little guys are cool, don't get me wrong, but I don't know they hold up when the worms get that big.
yeah maybe. It was very close. I was expecting a melter in the middle so i tried to protect the worm. Probably sandstorm was the best tech for worm but dont know if i had the moneyz
@@SurreyEZ In place of the 2 techs Mech div / replicate on round 8, Sandstorm probably would have totaled them. I'm leery about the mech div on the worms cause it banks on them dying to release some cowardly lvl 1 melee sledgehammers who don't benefit from burrowing much. They soak some big shots sometimes, but if the worm has to die first it only helps a spam.
theres not much difference in how they deal or take damage. Better to just think about them to build your board so theres enough space for what you want
you had 2 rounds where he had no counter for the worms and instead of just spamming them, you let him build a perfect counter, 100 melting points, that's the only mistake i saw, you didn't take advantage of the tempo you had

"FINALLY we got the big WORMS" proceeds to get rekt by melting point
Mechanical Rage is a good pick up with the worms because it allows for easier chaff clear and the sandstorm makes every range unit a melee unit

And still lose to melting point. XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Melting Point OP
It would be really great if the worms actually countered melting points.
Yeah but then how do you counter the worm
@@austinbrown6923 war factory, phoenix, overlord, wasp, steel ball, rhino, double shot scorpion

Im pretty surprised that Larva didnt scale with level

Hehe, my only Motivation for watching this Video was seeing the new Card... 😢@@SurreyEZ
I really wonder if there is a hotkey to upgrade units rank, or if they will add it later.
if i remember correctly they have plans to implement hotkeys but no known timeline yet

same boat here brother! just started 2 days ago and hit 1400 thanks to this legend Surrey
the agressive typhoon/ball positioning. Overlord with ground cannon is super good against multiple types of pushes

Thinking that breaks off melters faster with time to kill and gets them back to fighting strength
Woof I dono if any techs would make them live through round 10.

can you guys please explain when to place units vertically or horizontally? never got that one

If you didn't go the worm what would you have went?
more boats or factories

fkin melting points so dumb, ruin worm fun (as well as what feels like every other fkin unit but chaff )
