Cargo Ship Accommodation is the living space where cabins for ship’s crew are located, along with other important spaces of the superstructure including Galley, Ship office, Provision room, mess and recreation rooms etc.
The accommodation of the ship is a place where the most amount of time is spent by the crew. Accommodation on board ship has changed a lot over the years. in early days, there were no dedicated rooms or cabins for the crew and most of the leisure time was spent on the open deck.
The modern ship accommodation area provides the necessary space and functionality to keep crews protected from the weather and sea, while also in some comfort.
Check this video on how the cargo ship accommodation looks like.

In 1953 when I was16, on my way to Saigon from France on a tramp ship, 4 men in a cabin, 1 draw, 1 locker, and 4 hours a day on the wheel. What a comparison. There was no other luxury.
I like the round tables in the mess room. It's something that Maersk Line ( and some companies ) can learn from.
Very simple and easy video for non seafarers to get some glimpse of what is inside a ship....great stuff, good job👍👍😄
Glad you liked it!
I live close to Charleston SC so I see trucks with MAERSK containers on the interstates all the time. It's interesting to see a little more about where they are going and who is working on the ships carrying them.
High demand too, probably not hard to get a job doing trucking or shipping
1st view

Glad you liked it 👍
Love the video, the narrator was much easier to understand than some of the other videos. Commentary needs to be a little louder or music a little softer.
Thanks, will do!

Amazing 👌😍
Glad you liked it 👍. Please do share and support
Love the videos, very educational for a cadet like me, however i notice that in most of your videos the music is too loud and the commentary is too quiet, but overall the videos are very good
Hi James..
Thank you for your feedback.
Will definitely take care of the background score in the next video 👍
I'm getting old and wish I could make one round as a guest....heck I would mop floors and scrub the lavatories as a janitor to help pay my way on just once round trip just to experience the life of a seaman. I sure wish I would be allowed just once. I'm 64 and poor....just once...one trip.
Do ships of this class ever include provisions for non-crew personnel such as news reporters, or even regular passengers?
Yes, They do as Supernumeraries (family of officers or repair squad).
Still separate crew and officers mess rooms in 2021? Made some sense, when I left merchant shipping in 1982 with 28 to 30 people on board, but today with reduced crew size ...
Still very prevalent
I agree with you.. seems pointless..
sir amazing video but i have one suggestion for you please make the video on the different types of plans use on board ship....
Hi Sudhanshu
Glad you liked it. Please do share and support.
Will pass on the suggestion to the team. 👍
@@marineinsight Thanks a lot
You are welcome 😊
How is the Galley exhaust ventilation done? Considering all the sticky oil it carries
It is drived out via exhaust filter, whose drain is collected as discarded oil.
@@marineinsight ah okay. Thanks a lot. And wonderful animations by the way.
what kind of food is served on board a cargo ship for the crew ?
All kind of food- from veggies to frozen food etc.
Excellent video. Recommend quieter music ( annoying). Otherwise thank you .
is that a newly built ship?
Which one?
Does MITSUKI OSK LINE shipping company gives sponsership for DNS
They do provide sponsorship if approached by colleges. For individual, write to them and hope for the best. 👍🏻
@@marineinsight sir I have a doubt can I do eto course to become electrical officer? because now a days companies hire less electrician for the ship 😅
never show ratings cabins [seaman] why ?
Can you upload a video of rooms of cheif officer working in shipping. Corporation of India
Thank you for the suggestion
For trainee's they provide separate room ?
Almost all foreign going ships have individual cabins for each crew including the trainees.
@@marineinsight thank you! I was asking me the same question the last few day since I am going to start as a trainee in september. Appreciate your content!!
What is difference between officers cabin and rattings cabin ?
Officers cabin are usually bigger in size and UMS ships have alarm system installed in them.
I didn't understand clearly .
So first I want to ask that what is rattings cabin?
@@marineinsight what is Ums ship?
Ratings is a general term for skilled seafarers who carry out support work for officers.
in Unattended Machinery Space or UMS ships, there are no watched kept in the night and the engine room machinery runs in auto mode. Hence a common alarm panel is provided in the officers cabins.
I am 70 yrs old. I am seeking a ship with an elevator. Does this one have an elevator?
Wish there is not subtitles. Quite complicated to understand by ear for russian people. Thx.
Hi there....On it, you will see it in sometime 👍🏻
We have added them. Please check them out.👍🏻
@@marineinsight , I am appreciate you. I'll watch this again.
@@imaGe103 sure.

Yes, some of the companies do provide cargo ship travel plan
Do they have someone on the bridge 24/7?
