Thank you so much Karanvir and Ayush for the great engine room tour! The size of those engines are truly amazing. Seeing this brought back good memories of when my dad worked as engineer on a customs ship in Rotterdam harbor and its neighboring ports. Of course that ship was much, much smaller! My dad would have loved this video but unfortunately he passed away 6 years ago. That engine room is so self sufficient with are the tools and spare parts ready to be replaced when needed. ❤️

The "Minion" character painted on the air bottle at 10:48 was a nice touch. I'm glad the bosses allow a little humor and creativity in the engine room. As a gear head myself I always find the engine rooms more entertaining than the bridge.

Great video! Those 56 hours were well spent! Lol
Loved the cinematic shots, it's nice that you have a second person, really makes the quality better instead of everything being selfies.
As an American with limited exposure to other cultures, I do have some difficulty with understanding some of what's said between the background noise and accent, so as a sound guy I would suggest getting some wireless mics (like the Rode Wireless Go) that each of you can wear to always be heard clearly, and as an American with dumb ears, maybe add a little more subtitles! ;)
Most of what I had trouble understanding you put subtitles for, and that's excellent, but there were a few places where I missed things.
So maybe just lower your threshold for where you do subtitles lol
Both of you are happy and fun to listen to, and I love that you are not having to hide what ship you are on, so I hope you can make lots more videos, because you make Maersk look good!

This really took so much effort from both of you, and it is worth watching every second! Big "SHUKRIYA" to you and great to see Deck & Engine department walk 'hand in hand" as it ought to be onboard each vessel, as afterall Deck Officers need Heroes too😉⚓☸🚢💙
Watching this beautiful video brings back memories of the 25 years I used to visit the biggest Bulk Vessel 'Berge Stahl' who shipped iron ore from Brazil to Rotterdam. Her Engine Room was so impressive and I was fortunate enough to see it myself. I also have been into the Engine Rooms of Manchester & Manilla Maersk and who knows, maybe you can introduce me to the Engineers of Munkebo Maersk next time😉 I salute all of you for the incredible work you perform onboard your Giant Blue Lady, and wish you safe sailings wherever you navigate! @@KaranvirSinghNayyar Hi, was Chief Engineer on multiple Berge ships, but the Engine Rooms on Bulk Carriers are much smaller than the mega Container Ships.

By the way my first promotion as Chief Engineer was with Maersk.

Excellent video! as always Karanvir! Question for you, at 2:41 you pictured two Azipods which are electrically driven, no turn shaft/rudder needed but at the end of the video 16:55 you showed the propeller shaft which goes to the propeller which is in front of the rudder. I assume this particular ship does not use Azipods? I am a bit confused, does it have both Azipods and a standard propeller for redundancy purposes or easier steering?

    • @obtjk

Nope, cargo ships are not usually equipped with Azipods. They are mostly found on cruise ships, as some of their routes brings them to places where tug are not available.

As big as this beast is. With all of the high tech equipment and the ability to travel the open oceans. A tiny motorized canoe with six skinny af Somalians with a step ladder and a couple of AK’s can hijack this thing within 30 minutes of pulling along side of it.
    Crazy…hunh?
    😮
