- Starting a bike build on this 2004 Suzuki GS500. Plan on turning this bike into a cafe racer/scrambler hybrid with a shortened custom seat, some fatter tires, shorty exhaust, and a new paint job. This is my biggest rebuild yet, so feel free to ask any questions if it's not covered in the video.

Thanks for the videos, they are a great inspiration for my GS500 - although we have different regulations here in Germany...
Appreciate it!
I'm guessing you have abandoned this project...if you haven't, you should get back to it. Love to see how this goes for you. I'm looking at taking the fairings off mine and exposing it in it's even uglier naked glory. This will hopefully incent me to improve it. Mine is going to be way simpler, I just want to put a round headlight on and do something with that ugly seat and ass end.
I put episode 2 our last week and should hopefully have ep 3 out by this weekend. Working full time so only really get weekends to work on it. Appreciate you following along!
But yeah back end has been my biggest issue as well I’m going to be making a seat from fiber glass since it will be impossible to find one that fits (ep 4 or 5) hoping to have the bike done by end of July too
@@jimmybuildsbikes Cool! Glad to hear it! Its a funny little bike that once in a while I see something online and say to myself:..."well, in the end that doesn't look too bad with the original angle..." Case in point: i.pinimg.com/originals/d3/34/80/d33480e16c0efc00a5540d00e1659c9a.jpg My biggest concern is clearance for the tire as the suspension does it's thing. ??? I'll be watching. Cheers.
@@keithahlstrom176 that’s actually pretty sweet. Looks like you wouldn’t have to mod much. As long as your not altering suspension clearance shouldn’t change!
@@jimmybuildsbikes I’d rather cut off where the angle continues up as I think the lower angle seat looks better. I’d toy with a swingarm mudguard and license plate holder like the svartpelin uses to avoid having to worry about clearance and the plate getting in the way.

@jimmybuildsbikes can you send me your harness connections with labels list? I picked up a gs500 but some of the items are missing and I’m not sure where some of these wires go.
Hey man I have a few questions for ya if you got time
Go for it
@@jimmybuildsbikes I have anything you can reach me on but I’m fixing up the same bike and it will start and run but won’t get out of 2nd it’ll bog out and die and 1st and second is only 5k and 6k rpm’s. Just so confused
Just bought it off someone two days ago trying to figure everything that is wrong with it so I can ride it as my first bike this year
Doing a cafe racer stunt bike type theme

But my first guess would prob be carbs if it’s an older bike. Could be a clogged jet
