@@storybabble I watch a LOT of camera and Sony content on YT. You yourself said it best when you were talking about rolling shutter on the A74 - it's the story that matters! You're presenting information in a relatable and interesting way. I also think you're bringing high production value with good sound, music, and editing along with some quite detailed technical information. I'm glad my comment encouraged you. I think you have a lot of value to contribute to the space. I would have loved to have seen these videos when I started in the Sony system.
I am not dissing your comparison at all, but isn’t there a lot more to test here? For example, what about low light performance, stills, flare, chromatic abortion, controls on the lens, I could go on. I just think it’s a little misleading for people to this this lens is anywhere near as good as the GM 2.
I agree but all he was saying is that creativity creates good videos. In real life the lenses won't make 10 times of a difference. If your video or photo is good then it's good no matter what gear you're shooting with
Nice comparison! I split the difference and bought the 24-105 when it was just on sale for $1,100. I appreciate the OSS for video use as well as the extra reach. I tried out the new 24-70 gm ii for about a week, but came away thinking it’s way overpriced for what it is. At that price it should have OSS. New sub here!
@@storybabble I totally get it 🤣🤣 I just recently picked up the A7iv. Had been using Fuji for many many years, but grew tired of the unreliable AF and stepping AE. I've been so impressed with Sony so far. And Sony's color science has come a long way in the past few years.
@@RandumbTech Good choice I'm currently in Zion National Park working on a review of the a7iv compared to the a7siii. I think the a7iv is the best bang-for-the-buck camera.
I really appreciate this video. I'm completely new to videography and photography and I find lenses to be one of the most confusing part of the field. I picked up an A7III a few months ago and I really enjoy the kit lense so I wasn't sure what the difference was between it and the 24-70mm that's 8x as expensive. I think I'll likely skip this one until I get deeper into it.
Great video. If you are getting an a7 series Sony, then you absolutely should get the 28-70mm kit lens with it. Never mind what lens snobs will say, it's the best value for the money you will find. I got mine here in Canada with my a7II. It was $200 more than the body only. CAD $200 is ~ equal to USD $145. I call that an amazing bargain.
Really only matters in the Pixel peeping. But that zoom on the close shots could be well worth the investment for specific types of images. Also the color is better out the box. But nothing you couldnt correct for id think. Seems like the master is really if you just have the money and want things to look just a little better. Or need the better low light performance.
Agree 100% with your conclusion. As @Romenet said there's a lot more to compare but it was also not your objective to go in depth. About the center sharpness test, I guess you did it on your A7iv at 33MPx in RAW, worth mentionning.
Thanks for the kind words. The sharpness test was done in video using S-Cinetone at 10 bit 4:2:2. I’m not much into stills, so I didn’t test that. Maybe I should have. Thanks for the tip.
Yes the kit lens does have its weaknesses, but I was surprised to see that they are not as bad as I thought though. Thanks for the tip. I’ll watch his video.
Ouch! It’s actually a 90s shotgun mic (Sennheiser). You’ll be happy to know that I have recently purchase a better microphone for indoor use. Good ears though.
Nice trolling. As soon as I get Tamron 28-75F2.8 I have insane quality increase, as even at same ~4 aperture it was so cleaner in every place, center, corner, as if I was always missfocus on kit. At same aperture Tamron have more translucency and brighter with less vignetting (huge signal/noise win at corners for Tamron). Obviously you know what you do as experienced user, and intentionally select best low (~5,6-8 and less) - aperture shots that almost same on every lens except maybe ancient 3 element plastic rust. But you compare not with middle range Tamron but with damn famous king-of the-hill GM with military grade tech XA elements. I repeat your trolling skill is unbeatable.
I've just watched 3 of your videos. Great content, and I really enjoy the way you present your videos. Looking forward to seeing more. Subscribed.
Thanks so much. It’s easy for me to get discouraged. Your kind words mean a lot.

Fair point.
This channel is pro life. No chromatic abortions here. 🎉

It is over priced, but I can’t seem to help myself. Thanks for sub. What camera do you use?

DEYYYMMNNNN THIS IS A NICE COMPARISON i have bought a sony a7IV with the kit lens i haven't seen a comparison like this good job! great video
Thanks for the kind words Myles. I really appreciate the encouragement.
You cant do OSS off and IBIS on or OSS on and IBIS off on Sony Camera, when u turn off IS it turn off both OSS and IBIS.
Interesting. Thanks. Appreciate the tip.

The kit lens has some optical problems, check Christopher Frost, still I am not impressed with Sony GM glass, especially considering the price.
