This video is so good. Literally answered all my technical questions about these cameras 👌
Awesome Levi! So happy I could help!
Amazing video! So deatiled! I have another question: I'm shooting HD with a 18mm. Will that field of view seem like a 18mm or much more like to a 28mm?
Thanks and keep your great work!
"the bokeh in the background is slightly more on the pocket 6k.." walk in and rack your focus back. very misleading but I'm sure you've learned this since posting the video.
I don't see the link to the "what lenses work on bmpcc6k" video
Okay, dumb question. BRAW = BeeRAW or like what he said BRUHHHHH??? I assumed it was BeeRAW and I may be wrong lol.
really nice video but i still don't know how to avoid crop factor while connecting my BMPC 6K to an atem. I can't shoot in pro res Full Hd. Can you help ?
sir i have bought samsung t7 1tb ssd by mistake please tell me which SSD can i use in black magic camera 6k
Thanks for this super informative video. This is the best I ve seen so far on this topic
If you compare it to Red, Alexa, and G2, could you PLEASE set the Pocket 6k at the same iso and same lense exposure as the others so we're comparing apples to apples?
Hey...
Thanks a lot for picking my S35 vs MFT D.O.F. Question for this video..
Is it too much I'm asking from you???
I need help from you, you really got me into buying this camera for serious.
Right now I'm using 700D for my channel from past 3 years and I was waiting for some great camera to come. I guess I found one now, thanks to you and many other guys who made videos on this camera.
But, and its a big but, I cannot possibly shoot 4k, let alone 6k as of now, bcz it will require me to upgrade everything, like storage, cpu, gpu, etc. I calculated the data rates of BMPCC6k and I realized I can only shoot 1080p Prores 422 LT (16:9).
You must be thinking, why the hell I wanna buy this camera if i cant even use it at max capacity?
Well, i will upgrade everything, but slowly & steadily...
The IMAGE from this camera makes me ready to compromise all the pros & ergonomics of cameras like EOS-R, A7iii etc...
When I make videos with 700D, my viewers can barely make out the text on my android tutorial videos, my 3rd last video is proof of what I'm saying. And please it would be very very helpful if you can clear this doubt of mine by uploading a 1080p prores LT version to some cloud service, especially with a phone screen in it. So I can play with the original footage & be sure if it's a great buy for me or not...
I know its too much ask, but if you can pull this off, (maybe make a video for your viewers too, like 1080 prores 422 LT vs 4k RAW vs 6k RAW, etc)
I will be really thankful to you!
Another huge thing it has over others is phantom powered mini XLR and a usable USB C port for external recording.
Yeah for sure
In UHD you can choose between 5.7k sensor area or full 6k area you left that out. Also pixels arent cropped in 4k its downscaled in camera.
@Steven Thomas on the bm site. It shows the resolutions and rate rates. If someone owns the camera they know this. I own the 6k. I don't understand the misinformation. UDH on the 6k uses the full 6k sensor
Well done you know your shit !
i think the DOF answer is a bit wrong here. The 4k with metabones has a wider fov. so it should have a shallower dof. you compared the dof in the same distance but you should compare the same framing. in this case you had to move the 4k closer to the subject and you get shallower dof wuth the metabones on the 4k.
correct me if i'm wrong.
btw, great videos you are doing here!!!
Marcus Gelhard yes, shallow DOF is not intrinsic to the camera, so it’s wrong to say you get more shallow DOF with one camera or the other. The reason why you can more easily get a shallower DOF on a bigger sensor is that you have a wider field of view, which may mean you use a longer lens, so given the distance between the the camera subject and background is the same as the one you are comparing it to, it gives you a different DOF. It’s not a property of the camera in itself, as far as I understand it.
Whoa ! Where’d you get the BRAW thing for Premiere? I have not been able to load BRAW into Premiere
Autokroma braw studio it costs a little bit it’s so worth it!
LensProToGo Dope!
The plugin is free now :) You can download it from the Blackmagic website
How come he didn’t adjust the sigma 18-35 to 1.2 aperture when doing the depth of field comparison? I thought that was the point of someone asking about it. The speedbooster makes it so you can reach 1.2 instead of 1.8....that would’ve answered the question imo
Daimen Parker f/1.2 is basically unusable. The focus is paper thin at f/1.2 on most lenses so it looks like the whole image is out of focus.
@@jacobrobertdesio9265 no. you're so wrong
Thanks for a great video. You answered a lot of questions for me. You have a new subscriber.
What is crop factor on sensor? Can you set HDMI output resolution separate than internal record (for example leave full res for internal record, but set HDMI out to 1080p 59.94 for broadcast?)
Thanks for answering my question (the long one;), I am wondering though: did you use the same lens with both cameras? I assume not, if so, which lenses did you use? Also, you showed that the 4k has a wider fov with the speedbooster than the 6k, but the dof is shallower on the 6k. I have a feeling though that it would be the same if you zoomed in the 4k enough to get the same fov on both cameras. Right?
Pretty sure he used the same lens in a comparison video.
Bro always looks high af.
Can be balance properly Blackmagic pocket 6k in crane 3 LAB Gimble without issue
I do architectural photography with 11mm irix f/4 and canon 16-35 ii 2.8 L. I'm still confused due to the crop which pocket version to buy. I would like to keep the highest field of view. From what I've read maybe it's better just to have the 4k with a new mft 7.5mm ...?
Probably a dumb question, but, if i shoot in 6k and want to mix in 120 slow b-roll, is it best to shoot that in 2.8k and scale it up in post to get rid of the top and bottom cinema bars?
Do contax ziess and super takumar lenses work ok with the 6k if you obviously use the right adapter? Do they cover the sensor ok?
Absolutely incredible and informative video! THANK YOU!!
man the noise in the blacks in the shots around 35 seconds!??? i guess you crushed the blacks but it looks so bad!
auto focus system
Hey, great video thanks! I have a question does anyone know the exact location of the sensor? For example, all DSLRs have a "sensor sign" on the bodies which helps you when mapping lenses. I have edelkrone head plus and I need to map a lens, but when calibrating focus you need to measure the distance from the sensor mark. But Pocket 6K doesn't have it. I checked the manual and all other sources but its not mentioned anywhere.
I checked Leica Summicron , ARRI ultra prime with P4K + PL Mount. And compared with CP3 and Sigma Art Lenses in P6K EF mount. The sharpness seemed to be more in P4K. So in the end its all about quality of the glasses thats infront and not just resolution per se.
thank you so much for this video !!! it helped so much. !!! love it
Time stamps
Because I hear this a lot: Think about display and record pixels as two different things. Record Pixels are there for better detail. The more you got the more detail is in your shot. Of course you don't need those record pixels on your screen. Because on your screen its about delivering this caputred detail.
Its like you hear 6 things about one topic and explaining your friend this whole topic in 4 sentences. This will be much more accurate than just hearing 4 things about one toppic and explaining your friend this story also with only 4 sentences.
Hey man loved the Q&A. I've a request and a question. Request is please make a video on Atlas Orion Anamorphics. Because they are doing too much for the indie community. And they make way cheap Anamorphics than others and please compare Atlas Anamorphics to other Anamorphics out in the market. And the question is, do you send your products overseas? Because I live in India and I'm going to make a feature. So I wanted to hire some stuffs. So do you ship overseas? And from when the days starts counting? When I receive the product or when you ship them? Thanks in advance. With love. From India>🇮🇳🇮🇳
Great video !!! What’s the pc specs for braw 6k ??
What about 4K with Sigma 18-35mm + Speedbooster x.64? More DOF?
You didn't reframe at all for the DOF test. They're actually the same DOF when digitally reframing your FOV, and when physically reframing FOV for consistency, the 4K + speedbooster combo would qould have a slightly shallower DOF. ;)
It wouldnt have it more when digitally cropping the Pocket 4k to the same framing but yes moving the camera closer to get the same framing at the same focal length you would a similar depth of feild
For whatever reason every BMPCC 4K footage on this video looked sharper than the 6K version.
Not it didn’t
Thank you so much for anwering all these questions.. I searched a lot and there was no way of finding the crop factor for different resolutions and the one to one mapping for Raw and ProRes..
I would be astounded to see this compared to an Alexa, with a special emphasis on matched exposure and highlight rolloff.
Is there a built-in waveform?
what's the lowest shutter speed on the 6k?
Thanks for the review!
You bet Jonathan thanks for watching!
dude awesome video!!! thanks for this!
hi, tell me what are you recording the sound on? as I understand it, do you use an external device to record sound?
great video
Thanks, very informative! Is there a different crop with EF-S lenses? Is 20mm on a EF-S and 20mm on a EF lens the same one this camera?
Yes of course. The EF ff lens does have a larger image circle so it can cover a ff sensor. Since the sensor is only s35 (almost like apsc) size, a EF-S lens is enough to cover it. EF lenses could still be a better choice because you are only using the centre area of the image circle and therefore avoid possible optical problems in the corners (soft image, vignetting, ca).
Excellent video, thank you!
Thanks, great video!
Best review yet!
Why didn’t they add 1080 in BRaw?
BRAW uses 1:1 pixel readout on the sensor so shooting in 1080 would severely crop and not look that good
Is the 6k sensor overexposed when exposed to a white surface?
huh
Thank you!
Hello
Hopefully next iterration they switch this to a RF mount. I'll hold off on buying one for now.
Would love to see NDs and IR issues I have seen a lot of discussion on. Thanks!
