As a vocalist she is an indescribable mix of Joni Mitchell, Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, Kelly Clarkson and some of her discography hints at Etta James.
She’ is simultaneously all and none of the above.
Yebba is Yebba.
_Edit: I think Yebba was singing this song to her mother, who ended her own life when Yebba was 15. “Distance” is a love song to her mother as well._
There are many great singers out there many of of whom we never heard or will ever hear of but thankfully what sets Yerba apart is her song writing chops. I hope she avoids oversinging which is fine when you wanna make a name for yourself and create viral moments but could be a hindrance at a more mature stage in her career and could overshadow her other sensibilities. If you listen to 60s and 70s Aretha Franklin she almost holds back her voice and lets the song shine. Vocal acrobatics can only take you so far
Great reaction my friend, so glad you like her! She is extraordinary!
Yes, She is absolutely amazing!
I would lose my mind if she did a live gospel choir arrangement of this song. Can we get her and Ye together?
This song is so great!
It really is!
