Thanks for finally saying what I've been trying to argue for awhile now . The wisdom of "just have zero TC idle time and have a bigger eco and you will win ." simply isn't true . If you don't use those advantages with military and correct strategy / decision making than you will still lose .
I'm sub 1k elo and while I do know that idle TC time is very important , I've been trying to ask for help with "the rest of the game" . I know for sure that I'm not at my elo simply because i have too much idle TC time still , and have lost many games when I was ahead in eco and vill count .

What really helped me with late game was to use select all barracks, all ranges hot keys and remembering to select conscription in imperial age. Prior to that I was building a barracks but was not using it for production lol

Thanks hera . but u sure those guy are 11++ ? let me tell u that at 90% of my 11++ games are not that pasive i usually have to pick up feudal with 18pop to rush early than my enemy
yeah this is a weird one, seems like he only cared about locating relics in feudal and blue just faked scouts rush. That dark age was painful to watch as someone similar in elo

about anuimals and mills: what if you have like, a really big group of deers, like maybe 5 or so, but they are too far to lure (would waste too much scout time and the vills hunt faster than the lure takes) would it be ok to build a mill there and hunt them?
If you have the APM it is probably a good idea to still push, but building mill is also a decent option.
I don't play ranked but I can beat the extreme AI, and I'll do this most games.

Thats literally my problem every single game. Perfect eco in fast Castle with 3 TCs, yet losing cuz dont know when is the correct time to start making units when booming.

1150 seems kinda sus. I have a better dark age build with deer lure and don't pool so much res like this guy. I am still stuck between 1180-1220
I was going to say the same 😅 my dark age is way more clean and i also put more Pressure on my opponent in feudal and i am Stuck at 1050 elo 😅 also my enemys are normally going aggressive feudal
At 1050-1150 elo its best to just practice FC builds and wall up. No one is going to punish you at that elo for even a naked FC.

haha what i said basically played dark and imp like an 800, but castle like 1200+, so guy may win mostly in castle or civ pick too much. That dark age seriously was painful to watch

Yeah so many people lure deers and idle for it/their macro collapses in feudal.
I never lured deers until like 1300 personally, it literally doesn't matter if you don't get the basics right

it would be interesting to switch to red vision more. what you actually see is a very important part of decisionmaking and should be adressed more in a coaching session. it's also a common mistake in mid elo to tunnelvision into a comp without reacting to your opponent. here, for example i feel like red went into cavalier, simply because he had no idea blue had already have like 30 halbs.

1100 is a wall. Past 1100 dudes are really solide
100% agree. This guy has never seen a build order in his life.
Hard disagree, nothing makes sense at this elo and you see weird stuff happen all the time.
1100 is the complete opposite of solid
This guy has a really bad Dark Age but his feudal/Castle Age were really solid in terms of macro, he wasn't able to convert it into military and buy time for it but is not that easy to do (Conversely his opponent did a very bad boom but capitalized better on his resources).
Give him credit for what he deserves
Nah 1100 feels solid because we are playing against each other at the same ELO. 1100 still make many many obvious mistakes. (I'm 1150 myself)

Perfect example why they should never mess with ne amount of vills at the start, sure for some Dark Age might be boring, but boy is it fun to see how much can go wrong even in those first few minutes of a game :D

Would you max out at 4 TCS in Imperial or would you go up to 5 or 6 if the map is very open to protect your eco? Or is at that point castles way more important and you want to spend your stone on that?
It depends. Like maybe eventually in my opinion, but you need to scout your opponent first. If they go heavy army, you do not want 6 TCs.

@@Adventurer32 The continual food investment to create more villagers. If you go 6 Town centers, you're probably going to want at least four of them running
In my mind, 4 TCs are enough for noobs and intermediates because TC is a protective structure only until early castle age. In Imp age, it does protect you from sporadic raids but nothing more.
Not just building a TC costs relatively a lot, but it also takes VERY long time (or takes many vils to build it quickly). Besides, I do not think most noobs and even intermediates have skill to efficiently run 5 or 6 TCs (that is, not just constantly producing vils, but also assigning right tasks to them efficiently) while effectively producing and controlling their army. In most cases, you should focus on pushing the opponent if you have res and time to build more than 4 TCs.

How much tcs is a good number for the late game?
I would say at least 5-6 if you can afford. TCs are useful for securing the vills outside the walls as the game goes on even the woodlines become depleted. 5-6 is a good number to replenish the vills that you lose to the raids.
