This video took a lot of work to make, especially for my editor. I really hope you guys enjoy it!
Edit: elephant archers are pretty good right now, dravidians and bengalis can definitely go for them as the power backline unit.
Bro this is awesome! Leaving 2 comments and a like. If I had a single friend who was into gaming I could send this to I would but alas I am a solo ai destroyer.
Thank you for making this video. I requested it so I feel so special 💓
Good job.
Thank You for your content and sharing it so well 😀
liked commented subscribed and shared, am getting into the game, and you are an amazing teacher. thank you for your videos.
The way you ‘theorized’ a long time ago the partition of 1 gold 1 trash and 1 siege unit has guided my comp choices ever since- i’m still a pleb so i blame you but still ❤️
Oooor you just could go for Hussars and spam them in every direction possible 😜
SotL on being shouted out for the Japanese: "Oh yeah"
SotL on seeing Yasama Towers being suggested: * O face intensifies*
SotL on seeing Supremacy villagers suggested: *Passes out from sheer pleasure*
Man these videos cover things I didn't even realize I wanted. Nice to see ideal comps for civs I rarely play as well.
Hera also confirming my bias that Portuguese late game is scary strong 11.
What does putting "11" after comments mean? I keep seeing it in these videos comments.
@@PlanetFromOuterSpace it's Age of Empires speak for: "hahahaha"
@@Blooticus Thanks!
Fellow Braves fan that came across your comment. Let's gooooooo!!
This video is very much appreciated Hera and K1. Great quality. I struggle to know what my goal composition should be so this will be an ongoing reference for me.
I started watching your videos a few days ago, and as a low elo player it is very helpful to have a video like this that goes over which units comps are ideal for each civ. Big thumbs up.
Dude this a great video. So much info. The fact it’s not just pictures of the units, but the units actually in the game…idk, that’s awesome. That’s a lot of extra work/time taken to make this. So good.
I just rewatched your video where you spoke about the win condition for Magyar. That video is super helpful for me to think about how to play Magyar. So happy you made an entire video about the idea composition for every civ.
Awesome video and editing. My ideal comps used to always just be max UU and some trebs lol. This vid really helps to show the strengths of each civ.
Great video :) I’m already waiting for part two dealing with castle age. Have a feeling quite a few of these ideal comps will look different there.
This has to be the most useful video you have posted yet.
Thank you Hera and to your editor too for the amazing content!
Both the quality and rythm in which you are putting out this content is insane. Don't get burned out! 🙏
What a wonderful reference! Thank you for the work you put in to these videos!
Massively appreciate this video! Excellent, loved it from start to finish.
These videos are aesthetically pleasing, you and your editor are definitely stepping it up my man. That's some pro stuff right there
Got this video in my favorite and watching it each time I am trying a new civ. This video is gold. Thx Hera.
REALLY nice esp because you included bookmarks. Thank you!
Wow, incredible video. This is genuine AoE2 textbook, thank you Hera!
Awsome content, I just saved so I could check at the start of games. Thanks Hera!
Would love to see you use your community stuff for youtube, polls announcements, etc. you could get a lot more attention for high effort stuff like this. Help it pop in the algorithm. Loved how precise and efficient this video is!
Ukraine is gay. See my video on the swastika in the NATO logo. Gay Nazis.... Wow. That's even worse than Nazi zombies. Truthphobes, get triggered.
Great video Hera! Super helpful and interesting topic!
Thank you very much! Awesome video ❤️
Awesome format and very insightful!
Fantastic video and great editing! Thank you!
Huge work , well done man!
Hi Hera! Thanks for this video, I just recently got into AoE2 for the first time and your guides have been so informative. My struggle now is just deciding how big my arm should be before moving out of my base.
As soon as 3 units!
If you wait to mass up 40+ units, you're giving your opponent time to go for their ideal comp too..
Great video! Thank you both! Great work
Great video bro. This is what I wanted and asked for in some forums a few months ago but didn't get much response. Most are intuitive enough but it's good to hear your opinion. THANKS BRO AND UR EDITOR GREAT CONTENT. I WISH U HAPPINESS AND SUCCESS
Uve said some very nasty things in comments before so i do appreciate u sending some positivity my way for a change. Thank you
@@HeraAgeofEmpires2 All in good fun didn't know u read comments lmao
Wow! This took a lot of work to make this video. Great work Hera!
Such a good guide, keep up the good work mate! Like dropped as always
Absolutely wonderful video. I would love a civ guide book with this. Each page could have the tech tree, bonuses, maybe references to build orders and these compositions.
Great vid as usual Hera. Would be great to see a video around composition switches for different civs/situations sometime.
So well crafted! Love the content, brother. Keep it coming
Thank you sir 😎
Loved the format, easy to listen to and appreciated the gaps between civs, helped me process what I'd just heard. I wonder if cutting footage from games where you played the civ would be easier on the editor for future videos like this. Problem would be it might not exactly match the comp content being discussed but I think it would be visually engaging
thank you so much, i was just asking for this
I been waiting for this video for so longggg thnksss
Loved this video! I think Vietnamese also have a great late game comp with imperial skirm + elite battle elephant. But the rattan archer is really strong too so I'll try that one out as well. :)
Great video Hera! 42 civs in 24 min, as good as it gets. 😁😁
Great vid! Would love to see a similar vid of quick talking points about each civs power spike windows or main "win condition" soon!
Love your video idea about win condition! Hope Hera makes it.
I wish there was a button to MEGA-like all your videos.
Thanks for all for the effort that you put into making the videos. I thoroughly enjoy them.
I can tell you put your heart in this one, cheers Hera
Surprised not to see the hussars from Burmese mentioned, nor the nearly FU CA from Spanish (although tbf I'm probably a bigger proponent of that than most people :p ).
Good video! It's interesting to see how ubiquitous the strong ranged siege options are.
yeah Spanish CA can be a little more situational but Burmese Hussars with UT especially is definitely a very solid trash unit for them - they basically become Persian knights with 2.5 times the extra damage against archer civs
I'd always go conqs as Spanish. It's an all around better unit. Even if you're melee civ, if you have thumb Ring you go CA against Teutons, but even then conqs work better. Only problem is Castles.
I LOVE playing Khmer knight/hussar + Scorpion/Ballista Elephant. So glad it got a mention
Also, Sicilian Cavalier are stronger against all the things cavalier are somewhat weak against when compared to other civs
Good as usual! This is honestly huge for 800 elo newbie…
Awesome video!!
Awesome job 😁👍
the bonus damage of Burgundian HC's makes it a perfect 2-shot kill vs. standard FU halberdiers, whereas all other HC's in the game take three. this breakpoint is super relevant when pairing them with cavalry, for obvious reasons
Only the tatar halb die 2 shot.
17+4+10=31 damage
-4=27 to generic FU halb
@@ninggengjapchae gunpowder ignores armour
@@ninggengjapchae nope! the +25% damage applies to bonus damage too.
@@ninggengjapchae You forgot a +1 bonus dmg vs the Spearline specifically. (Same category as the Skirms +3 vs Halbs)
Great aoe2 study from u guys thx all~
Cool Video Hera! Sadly I cannot learn anything from it cause Fast Imp Arbs is just too satisfying to use for me, but nice vid nonetheless!
Great video!
Amazing. Thank you for all the work you put in for us noobies
Very good video
Love the content
Keep making these type of videos guys
Thanks for this!
Thx hera, you are the best

I randomed into Burmese and didn't know what to do with their late game. So I just followed your suggestions and won. Thank you for that.
I think I had never really seen a well-made summary of civ comps, only video per civ, which is nice but takes more time, so I think it really can be the go-to video to help both new and a bit more experienced players to get the best comp and not use Malay light cav or Spanish archers as main army in a 45+ minute arena team game, I think mostly it all sums up to:
Archer civ= archer/cav archer + halb/hussar + treb/bombard cannon (siege ram depending the case)
Cavalry civ= cav/camel + skirms/HC + treb/bombard cannon
Infantry civ = halb/champion/eagle warrior + skirms/ archer (double gold in some cases like meso civs) + usually SO/ treb/ siege ram
As a Malian fan I was waiting for the pseudo huskarl champion mention but I guess IT DEPENDS as always. Amazing work from you and the editor, keep it up! :D
Good Video!
Thanks for this.
This is great!
Great video! What are your thoughts on 1v1 vs. team games regarding the late game comps? In team games, late game is such a big deal, but you have a completely different economy with the gold from trade. Are there a few civs that work completely different in team games?
I love the way he pointed out the Teuton inflexibility in post late game with paladin
great one!
Wow so good, i will need to subscribe on Twitch :D
Great video
This is what we needed.
When I play random civ I often get wrecked in late game cause I don't know what I should be going for, so this is so helpful, thank you bro
Great video! But we all know light cav/hussar spam is your ideal comp regardless of civ
Enjoyed this video cause you don’t have to watch the video to understand what’s going on I can do my work whilst listening to the army compositions suggestions
I come back to this video every so often just to check what I should be playing towards with each civ. Hera I really like conqs is there an optimal late game option that includes them for Spanish?
Awsome content
Top tier content
First of all: Really nice video.
Second of all: How sad is it that there were neither Battle Elephants nor Elephant Archers present in any of those compositions?
(Because they suck, which is kinda sad)
Ele archers just got a buff so we will see over the next patch how that plays out
Yeah ele archers might be good now, and for battle eles they are solid in TGs but too easily countered in 1v1
It’s good to know the compositions that I will try but probably not manage to get 1111 Awesome video though, for real!
Hey hera absolutely loved this video. Would you be able to make a paper guide/ website I would be able to reference for this entire video? Amazing content as always!
No i cant make that but some community members might be able to make one eventually
@@HeraAgeofEmpires2 why did you stop your amazing BO doc :(
Was well worth a sub
@@forsakenquery I agree the build order docs are amazing!
This video was a beaut!
poles cheap kts are so good to ignore, much much better than going hussar. Thanks for the video!
Ideal Bengalis composition is ctr+alt+del and End Task
Hera´s videos are like AOE2 University
The power of throwing axeman is that they use both the cheaper castle bonus and the same attack upgrades that the paladin
Great video, as for Poles, would you not use their cheap cavalier?
2:23
I'm not really a high skill player myself but I found for myself that halbs work great with a mix of all three archery range units (they get the hand cannon an age earlier)
Hey if you got a script try using a nice fluffy blanket on you and, mic and screen to help tone down the echo. Would make a major improvement to the audio quality.
Spanish conq & donk no viable option? Great vid through, helps a lot!
Hera's recommendations are for high level players too like for turkey for example, the janissary is much more dummy proof than cav archers but if you can micro like Hera the cav archers are the way to go for gold units, same goes for his recommendations for Bulgaria and Celts IMHO their unique units are pretty ez and effective though I admit you can do some big moves without them too otherwise I generally agree
what about updating this one? this is already 1yo and it's one of the most useful videos i've ever seen
Great so now we can analyze what units are best vs you if I meet you in my 1200 elo games! Like mass scorpions vs Vikings right?
Gonna play some random and keep this video playing on loop.
Great!
Amazing video as always! Can someone please tell me the music name / genre, really love the vibes!
For the Byzantine, I suggest a minor change where frontline units are the combination of Cataphracts and Camel Riders instead of Halberdiers, escorted by skirmishers and trebuchets. I know this is rather gold intensive, especially when factoring upgrade but I feel like this combination is much deadlier, especially when considering that the "trash" combo cannot effectively deal with onagers or even scorpions
15:56 you can also go malian champion with farimba cavalier if you go against archer civs specifically
actually not a fan of that. 2 melee units is a bit of a weird thing
Great video, thank you for all your hard work. We might see many more high-level players who have watched your videos.
I would question Bengalis after the updates. Viper just played Vivi and skirmishers are no longer a counter to elephant archers. This makes sense since skirms counter ratha. Therefore, I would go push with ratha + elephant archers in front of armored monks, and siege elephants. This sounds like a lot of gold, but Bengalis have such terrible late game (no hussar, no plate armor for infantry) they need to push the map to take the open resources. I would start with elephant archers and monks first as it takes some time to build up rathas. Then when the opponent brings in CA counter with rathas.
For dravidians I would not use any other infantry besides Urami swordsmen. Their charge attacks with Wootz steel are the best choice. Again, after the patch, elephant archers are not hard countered by skirmishers. With 25% greater attack and thumb ring, you have to use them. EA and Urami followed by siege elephants and bbc should do the trick.
Probably that’s the best comp, but we have to think about the *ideal* comp, with some trash units mixed in.
@@gherlwinfireson8582 Bengalis late game is so terrible. No final armor for halbs, no hussar, only elite skirm are the fully upgraded trash unit. You will die to almost every civ. It is necessary to push the map with gold units and take map control.
