He absorbed Raiden and fujins power first, then shao Kahn and sindel and lastly kronika so how the hell does liu Kang have an ending where he wins if he only has Raiden powers??
@Marc-bi6tt I guess the power/soul absorbing thing is purely visual for the sake of a dramatic scene. Ultimately, the moment a deity (demigod, elder god, titan) takes physical form, and the moment kombat begins, kombat limitations apply: equally limited health bars and equally limited damage output.
@@Marc-bi6ttWell if you think back, Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn had way more hax and attack power compared to Liu Kang but yet they still got clapped by him. So when you think about it, it's actually accurate since Liu Kang is literally the embodiement of skill > power. Don't forget Liu Kang basically got a ×2 boost from his revenant counterpart other than Raiden power boosting him. Raiden did not only fused his revenant counterpart into him, he brought him back to life WHILE fusing him so instead of a 1.5 power boost it becomes a ×2 boost, plus Raiden's power is a ×3. To top that all off, his hax is basically ×3 because of his revenant counterpart mastered Shinnok's sorccery and Raiden's hax as well.

I mean, wouldn't you if you were in his place, and your nemesis, your do gooder who ruins everything you do, revealed that behind his muscles and meditation, he has a mind that can scheme on your own level?
Hey, hey, if your mortal nemesis does something very impressive given their nature, you have no other choice but to respect that. Rivalry is all respect of the another, after all
I have a theory: We all saw how when Raiden fused with Revenant Liu Kang, it resulted in both Liu Kang’s fusing with Raiden to become Fire God Liu Kang. Which allowed Liu Kang to absorb his Revenant’s knowledge/memories and give him the location of the Keep. We also know how when Raiden battled Liu Kang in the Fire Gardens, Raiden gained the knowledge of every outcome that was where he and Liu Kang fought. My theory is that Liu Kang also absorbed that knowledge. So he knew why Raiden believed in taking that risk by allowing Shao Kahn to fuse with Earthrealm in the MK9 scenario. Hence is why Liu Kang had a similar mindset in allowing Shang Tsung to kill everyone and get the Crown.
Add that theory to the fact that the game automatically always chooses liu kang's ending and to the fact that Liu kang defeated shang tsung more than shang tsung does 1 on 1 always, shang tsung only killed liu kang in mk DA with the help of quan chi, if quan chi didn't hit liu kang massively from the back, liu kang might have killed shang tsung, plus liu kang was training for eons, he and his revenant self, not to mention that revenant liu kang is almost a sorcerer as well, mastering shinnok's sorcery, so shang tsung being a sorcerer doesn't make a lick of difference now, plus revenant liu kang almost killed shao Kahn, add all of that to liu kang and not to mention raiden's powers and we get that his ending is the canon one.
@@blackfire1471 also don't forget Revenant Liu kang is weaker than his prime and Raiden not only free Revenant Liu Kang. After almost 30 years of MK, Shang Tsung will always be the final boss to where it all started. And an era of MK 12 will rise in PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Shang Tsung enjoyed knowing Liu Kang would do something as cold blooded as sacrifice his friends lives for victory but, I'm seeing a missed opportunity here where Liu Kang could have actually expressed "gratitude" to Shang Tsung for that because, it let him understand the true difficulty Raiden had always been facing for a long time in the position he was in now and, let him understand what he could expect going forward...
The battle between Liu Kang and Shang Tsung feels like a callback to 1995's Mortal Kombat movie, which makes sense since the sorcerer's younger face is identical to the actor from that film. Even some of the interactions between characters referenced stuff that happened, like Johnny saying to Sheeva about Goro breaking his 500 dollar sunglasses, or when Shang Tsung tells Johnny he killed the master that trained him.
A final boss fight between Liu Kang and Shang Tsung now this is like Mortal Kombat 1 all over again only this time both Liu Kang and Shang Tsung both have power upgrades Liu Kang has God like power and became The God Of Fire And Thunder whole Shang Tsung has Kronika's powers and the strengths of the souls of all of Liu Kang's friends and even though that I was preying that God Liu Kang defeated Shang Tsung since he was Earthrealm's last hope for survival and for another thing I never in my life would I have ever thought that I would agree with Shang Tsung on something I mean cause like the way that Liu Kang sacrificed the lifes of all his friends truly was cold blooded.
The way Liu Kang sacrificed his friends kinda reminds me of Erwin Smith in Attack on Titan. The only difference was, Erwin then sacrificed his own life and the lives of the Recruits for Levi to take own the Beast Titan. In this story of MK, however, Liu Kang fought Shang Tsung himself.
@@御雷零-p5x Liu Kang took a chance with such a plan, knowing that the people he journeyed with will live again once the Hourglass was secured. Fujin was concerned when he talked to Liu Kang off-screen about this plan, however Liu Kang was confident that he could get them all back with the Hourglass and waiting for the moment when he could face Shang Tsung, knowing he can't be trusted as he knows Shang Tsung treachery enough to know that he'll do anything to be at the top, controlling everything. Don't forget, Liu Kang was heavily worried when Kronika erased the history of events ongoing thru MK9 to MK11 until their confrontation. That means his allies after that did not exist since Kronika wiped it clean, unless Liu Kang got control of The Hourglass. He just needed the Crown he inadvertently destroyed the 1st time, after he got the info from Shang Tsung, Fujin, and Nightwolf. The greatest Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa, still looking at his photo or listening to his voice, I immediately flashback his image from Mortal Kombat 1995. With all due respect to Alan Lee and his work in Mortal Kombat 1, but for me, Shang Tsung will always be Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa
I came back to this after watching the story mode of new mk1. This kung lao is the Great Kung Lao. As you can see, Kung Lao is polishing that jade jaguar that he gave to liu kang
If you think about it, Shang Tsung and Liu Kang had one hell of an interesting rivalry that spans from the very beginning. After being so close to ruling Earthrealm, that all shattered when Lui defeated Shang in the tournament. Probably stung the sorcerer so much that by the start of Deadly Alliance, he was the one that ended up killing Liu. That spanned more even to Armageddon where you see that cutscene of Zombie-Liu getting his revenge against Shang. Then came the Netherealm timeline where history repeated itself with Liu defeating Shang again. But this time, the time discrepancies are realized and both Liu Kang and Shang Tsung's fight is the one that determines how the story goes from here.
Liu Kang playing god-chess against Shang Tsung with his own friends is both a sign that he's definietly achieved a higher level of strategy and a worrying sign of what he's willing to do in the new era. He saw them as not dead, but waiting to be reborn in his new era.
When I saw Shang Tsung's Aftermath ending (as well as Liu Kang's), I knew Liu Kang was going to be the canonical ending that would lead to MK1. But I also wanted to see a "What if Shang Tsung won?" kind of game. And with Raiden and Fujin not only announcing to Shang that Earth, Outworld, and the Netherrealm have been conquered...but also announcing that Chaosrealm and Orderrealm (that have hardly been explored since Deception), I thought the perfect idea: a Mortal Kombat-themed Dynasty Warriors game! The game would feature Tecmo Koei/Omega Force-developed characters (similiar to the OG Hyrule Warriors and OG Fire Emblem Warriors) that originated from Chaosrealm and Orderrealm (plus a couple klassics like Dairou, Darrius, Havik, and Hotaru). The story would begin with a war between Chaosrealm (the protagonists)and Orderrealm being in kombat with each other, when suddenly...Shang Tsung and the Elder Gods launching their invasion, so the Chaosrealmers would have to travel through Earth, Netherrealm, Outworld, and (the unmentioned) Edenia to team up with and/or fight against the klassic Kombatants we know and love/hate. Unfortunately, with MK1 revealing that BOTH Aftermath endings are canon to MK1, this can no longer apply. And I felt like this was the biggest wasted opportunity in Mortal Kombat history. (And before you say that Mortal Kombat is too gory for Japan...so is Berserk and Chainsaw Man!)
Do you guys think this was an easier fight for Liu Kang than Kronika? I think it would have been off the top of my head because Kronika was always the Titan of Time (to my knowledge) and regardless would have had eons upon eons of time with her powers. Whereas Shang Tsung literally got them a few minutes ago before this fight and from a martial arts level, Liu Kang has always been more gifted in that department.
Technically Liu Kang was wrong in a way, “his” friends are gone. They can be brought back but won’t be “his” friends. Even if they were exactly the ones that died here and lived the exact same life and path, they would have no memory of him.
I kid you not but as soon the choose your destiny showed up immediately I picked Liu Kang and turned on the MK movie 1995 theme song while I was fighting Shang Tsung.
5:30 - And the music is no longer of war and dread, blood and death...changing to hope and salvation...then a peace before knowingly revealed...a victory for Earthrealm through rebirth and another chance...
@@MikeSmith-vb8ul nah, great kung Lao will now have double the training and knowledge to defeat goro.the question is now, what changes to the new era will that bring since outworld will longer be reigning winners of MK?
Anyone else get the feeling that these two aren't that different anymore? I mean look at that smirk Lui Kang has when Shang realizes his plan. Plus he did give up his friends and allies for this moment. I don't really see that as him becoming evil but it does show that Lui Kang has lost his sense of mortality. He's acting like an actual god disconnected from mortal struggles for his own interests. Yes it benefits his friends in the long run but you know each and every one of them that weren't gods would've objected including himself. Which is why he clued Fujin on his plan but left Nightwolf out of it. Which is a surprising amount of good writing from NRS... IF this is what they intented.
Makes sense. A god would naturally lose sense of mortality, especially one with access to the Hourglass. However, people who worship gods always have faith that they will guide them forward. Liu's decision to let Shang Tsung win is a decision only he could have made, and his friends will no doubt return in the New Era

Wow. For Liu Kang, even Shang Tsung admits that was a pretty good strategy of “He must win.”
It really goes to show just how insanely powerful Lui Kang here is.
Shang Tsung had the crown and all ths ouls of the fighters.
Dude gave a beatdown of timeless proportions.
I’m still wondering how the combined power of Liu Kang and Raiden defeated Shang Tsung with the powers of Raiden, Fujin, Shao Khan, Sindel, Kronika, AND the Crown???

After all these years of killing liu kang
Humiliating him
They finally put him at the strongest
Rightfully so
And I respect him because he will do everything to make the world safe
Now they need to stop humiliating Kung Lao and also put some respect on Bi Han's name.

I love how they got back the original actor of Shang Tsung in the old Mortal Kombat movie to voice him here.
Shang:“You let me win”
Liu: 😏
(That grin gets me everytime)
I love how most people immediately noticed Raiden is a god by simply by his eyes and yet Kung Lao ancestor has to ask who is Liu Kang that is clearly floating
To be fair, on the new timeline, Fire God Liu Kang descends for the first time. I don't blame Kung Lao for not noticing it at first. 😂
This made me hope that when Tekken 8 is released, we should be given a choice to play as either Jin or Kazuya in their final fight.
And also, I'm expecting for Paul and Kazuya Rivalry in Tekken 8
@@bettercallpaul3579 Let's see that happening as well.
Gotta admit. The way Shang Tsung talks is just..... well.... I have no words for it.
The voice actor really did an amazing job.
It's the actor Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa who did the voice and appereance of Sheng Tsung.
@@pessie83 That was a full circle moment for the fans and for NetherRealm Studios.

I LOVE THIS ENDING!!
I look forward to this new time line coming up in the new game.
After almost 30 years of MK, Shang Tsung will always be the final boss to where it all started. And an era of MK 12 will rise in PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Liu Kang coming out of the portal with that line and violin is one of the coldest MK moments ever
"I have chosen you as my champion, Kung Lao."
MK1: "Oh, you thought I was serious? Raiden, get out here, you!"
Gotta appreciate the full circle Liu Kang and Shang Tsung have come from the first game. End as it began...these 2 fighting for the fate of all
A final boss fight between Liu Kang and Shang Tsung now this is like Mortal Kombat 1 all over again only this time both Liu Kang and Shang Tsung both have power upgrades Liu Kang has God like power and became The God Of Fire And Thunder whole Shang Tsung has Kronika's powers and the strengths of the souls of all of Liu Kang's friends and even though that I was preying that God Liu Kang defeated Shang Tsung since he was Earthrealm's last hope for survival and for another thing I never in my life would I have ever thought that I would agree with Shang Tsung on something I mean cause like the way that Liu Kang sacrificed the lifes of all his friends truly was cold blooded.
It was a high-risk gamble, but it paid off if you played as Liu Kang in the final battle.
@@leon4000
I got that. That's how the storyline goes. I got no problem with that.
The problem is that "Mr.I-am-not-a-jerk" keeps saying Liu Kang is a Jerk, even though a lot of people have pointed out what is what.
Clearly, "Mr.I-am-not-a-jerk" here does not even understand what a jerk means. And talking to him about it is just a waste of time, so i stopped and did not care anymore.
“No more timelines will be twisted by your evil.”
So that was a lie.
It's kinda poetic that the final battle is between the og main hero against the og main villain but now in their most powerful forms.
5:26 The New Era Of Liu Kang Begins Now.
MK 12.
Mortal Kombat 1
The greatest Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa, still looking at his photo or listening to his voice, I immediately flashback his image from Mortal Kombat 1995. With all due respect to Alan Lee and his work in Mortal Kombat 1, but for me, Shang Tsung will always be Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa

@@jobejacobs62 with Raiden indeed taking LK's vacated spot. Now, he and Lao grew together in a rural Chinese vilage called Fengjian.
Thank you you didn’t choose the bad ending
Liu Kang playing god-chess against Shang Tsung with his own friends is both a sign that he's definietly achieved a higher level of strategy and a worrying sign of what he's willing to do in the new era. He saw them as not dead, but waiting to be reborn in his new era.

Kronika that is seen in the intro is actually Damashi aka Titan Shang Tsung from this timeline that won against Fire God Liu Kang.
This aged well except for kronika part

I’ll definitely do that for you bro
I replayed this for like 3 times in my pc but until now After FGLK says Great Kung lao's name it still got me goosebumps.
Coming back to watch this after finishing MK1 is a mind Fuk
"Trained? For what?"
MK theme starts.
I wish
Liu Kang: They will live again in my new Era
Shang Tsung: MotherF..... I mean... Your new Era ?
Do you guys think this was an easier fight for Liu Kang than Kronika? I think it would have been off the top of my head because Kronika was always the Titan of Time (to my knowledge) and regardless would have had eons upon eons of time with her powers. Whereas Shang Tsung literally got them a few minutes ago before this fight and from a martial arts level, Liu Kang has always been more gifted in that department.
Tagawa just oozes charm as Shang Tsung.
Technically Liu Kang was wrong in a way, “his” friends are gone. They can be brought back but won’t be “his” friends. Even if they were exactly the ones that died here and lived the exact same life and path, they would have no memory of him.
Ouch you are right
Shang Tsung: I absorbed Kronika's power
I feel like its not only her power you absorbed...
This should have been the FIRST hint at that Kronika's appearance in MK 1 in the beginning.
This ending cutscene is happening before events of mk1
Shang tsung's design is just too good. I love the classic movie look.
This has got to be the true ending to mk11
Indeed it is based on the new trailer lol
This did not aged well xD
I kid you not but as soon the choose your destiny showed up immediately I picked Liu Kang and turned on the MK movie 1995 theme song while I was fighting Shang Tsung.

Shame they didn't use the 95 film actor's likeness for Liu Kang like they did for Shang Tsung. Would have made this even more epic.
So coming back from all the MK1 trailers confirms one major thing: This is not our Kung Lao. This is the Great Kung Lao of the new timeline.
This is already a great ending. It would have been perfect if Robin Shou was a DLC skin. IMAGINE
Your Evil Ends Now Shang Tsung
