    Ik your just learning man but for future reference you shouldn't make heavy passes on the first coat...dust it on let it flash dry for about 5-10 minutes depending on the mix ratio and then cone back and lay that heavy coat 👌🏼

      If you lay a metallic or pearl ex colorshift it will give it a slightly different look after the clear. Nothing wrong with they way he did it. Try it next time on a couple pieces of plastic on the side just lightly dust or fog coat one and lay one wet and then put clear over both then take a look at them in some light you will see the difference.

    Definitely push out the bigger dents from behind if possible so you aren't caking filler on. And block sand for a smooth finish. Using a DA sander will leave waves. It's not a big deal on an old truck though honestly everything you did was fine. The stuff I and everyone else is telling you only matters if you want a high quality finish. A few waves won't hurt anything on an old work truck that you just want to make look better

    Oh my goodness. Everything you’ve done so far is wrong on bodywork. So you do need to research that. Perhaps you don’t care how the body surface looks, but it would help your paint job at the end if it were flat and uniform versus All dinged up still.
    I’m just amazed that you’re young and you’re out there. Trying to do this stuff because most people don’t have the energy and they’re too lazy to even try. So I appreciate your efforts bro.
    Please always add a disclaimer to your videos and let people know that you’re not a pro and you’re just doing your own thing. They do not have to copy it nor do they have to insult you. However, compliments are always welcome. For your effort you deserve a compliment! :)

    Not that it matters now but to anyone using body filler. Bondo is the worst brand possible to use if you're putting it directly to bare metal. It is acidic, and it will cause rust eventually. And that looks like a floor or wood type sander, isn't it? Also, it wouldn't have rusted if you use etching primer on the bare metal instead of gray filler primer. Filler primer is used after all your body work and sanding is done before you lay your base coat to help fill In imperfections from body work and any sanding marks.

  • @ryannichols8315
    @ryannichols8315 2 роки тому +1

    Everyone has their acceptable look and results I suppose. But the video shouldn't be titled how to. Because this is actually a good how to not. You need to sand it down with the da. Then grind those dents out to the metal and push or pull them out as much as possible. Then spray a epoxy or etching primer before you apply mud. Then use a sanding block to smooth it out before primer. Then use a sanding block again over the entire truck. Usually another coat of primer and block once more. Lay your sealer, then black base. Especially outside, you should stop. Let it dry, the next day wet sand lightly. Then light coat of black, then your clear. Truck would look brand new. I'm sorry, but I guarantee that truck starts to bubble in a year.

    Another good tip I could recommend is not using regular bondo, but bondo with glass reinforced filler, or 3M Bondo 261 Lightweight Car Body Filler,
    Evercoat 156 Lightweight Car Body Filler. All work well, they’ll be less likely to crack during season temperature changes, rough roads, just over all tends to last way longer. Looks amazing though. Don’t take any of this as criticism just friendly tip because you have the potential to be a good auto body professional. 👍🏼

    What do you mean by burn through while sanding?
    Is it bad if the metal is showing?
    That way you can turn the truck back into the original cavas to work with?
    How many jars of the didspade colorshift did you need to fully coat the truck?
    I'm trying to paint the exact type of truck and your video is extremely helpful 😁

      I used a total of 50 grams of didspade pearls, which is 2 jars. and about half gallon of clear i still have half gallon clear left so i could spray it again. And by burn thru i mean while your sanding you dont wanna keep going down to baremetal youll have to use primer on all metal areas because if you spray just paint it will flake off later.

    You left out the part about the sanding of the primer and some of the more intricate details about the painting process. I'd love to have seen and learn more about the sanding processes

    Those aren't dents. They add character to the truck.
