4:41 That is also a Lima (and the other goods van next to it too) Makes you wondering where the rest of the set went.
4:58 Did Rivarossi do UK stuff in their 'red box' era? They were the #1 choice to go for in US stuff before you could get everything shipped over from the US for a reasonable price.
6:41 80% chance that they used V200 bogies on that instead of proper UK ones (or the other way around)
20:12 Back in the days Lima was the only manufacturer doing vehicles from outside the usual countries.
24:46 That box does remind me of one of the regular sellers on the main Dutch show who once had crate loads of Metcalfe kits. Now these are nowhere to be found...
27:24 Thats a lot more colorful that modern roads filled with resale safe shades of metallic grey
31:42 Those are Jouef. Lima did have CIWL vehicles but they were shortened to an absurd length.
31:48 That's the middle car of a DB Class 614 DMU. These did drive in all kinds of crazy arrangements with the class 634 so that's why they were never sold as a 3 vehicle set.
34:15 Those trams look like proper DDR vintage based on the plastic shine
35:20 That is the source of the impressive idling heard in the background 10 seconds earlier. Also known by its Czech nickname 'Hektor'
48:03 Tramway locomotives were required to have covered connecting rods for safety reasons (and as an attempt not to scare horses)
49:30 That's the Fleischmann 'Anna', a common starter set locomotive. The version here is the 'economy edition' with very basic valvegear. In the same range they also had 'Betty' which is the same one but with a tender and 'Carl' which was an odd one having rack railway gears.
53:01 Vehicles that look like someone built them in a shed in their spare time are always interesting. For some reason most narrow gauge railways did end up with converted buses and trucks at some time in their history
56:53 The infamous Lima class 33 that for some reason was initially released in the UK with a HO scale body. These were also sold by the HEMA department store in the Netherlands in the 70s and 80s

Well, such a big show and so much to see, I just can't comment on it all without writing a Magnum Opus. I did really like Derby Lane... modern, and so well done! As were all the layouts, but it came early and caught my eye. The other thing to mention was when you were looking at the model cars and mentioned the Italian cars shipped to the USA to be put together. It reminded me of a trend in the 70s here in the USA (and maybe elsewhere). There were 3 companies, Italian, German, and American, which made fiberglass-based shells designed to fit over Volkswagens frames. So, you could buy an old VW, take off the shell and buy a wild body... I remember "The Coyote"... and look like you had bought a $200,000 sports car. Your story reminded of those. Helped a guy put one on when I was an early teenager in the mid 70s. Anyhow, great video and so much to gawk at, be grateful I wasn't your ride... you might have been stuck there forever. Cheers!

Hi Anthony, my favourite was the East German one, we went to a show today and there were so many Continental layouts including French and Polish and a nice selection of HO for sale. I googled the Coyote and like many I remember it from Hardcastle and McCormick. Next time you are over here you are welcome to be our designated driver. All the best Rick

@@wellchuffedrailways I saw those. Mark would have loved the Polish one. I am not too up on the East German stuff, except what got brought over after re-unification. It was grand, for sure.

Hey Rick and Pauline, that traffic on the Mostyn road would probably be holiday traffic to the north Wales coastal resorts
, Rhyl etc. We called it the coast road it was always busy during summer months. The long passenger train more than likely be London to Holyhead.

Hi Rick and Pauline I saw that the temptation to buy rolling stock was great again😄
Great show to see, saw interesting things again…
If I may give you, specially pauline a good tip, don't buy the old Humbrol enamel paints anymore, they are solvent based, have a solvent odor and are really not good for your health.
Above that they take a long time to harden out, and you need solvents to clean your material and the life time of your brush is very limited.
Of course the way you clean your brushes and other equipment, determine on how long you have them.
And as far as I know they are pulled out of production for the obvious reasons I gave above, so all you buy now is old stock.
Water based paints have evolved and are so much easier to use, dray- and overpaint time is very fast, odorless and so much better for your health.
Personally I work with Vallejo and the Andrea paint system, for final washes and effects I might use solvent diluted oil paints or the old Humbrol enamel paints as long as I still have them, but it's very rare that I use solvent based paints anymore, and washes can be easier done with water based inks.
But if I use solvent based paints it will never be in house, as solvents are really harmful an a lot of people ignore that, even for such a small old Humbrol tin.
What a lot of people don't do, is to give the item a primer (also water based), it's so much better to paint on after.
Also stirring up your paint before applying makes that your paint is smoother and will last longer.
If you want to stick to Humbrol, they now replaced the old enamel paints with drop bottels and water based paints, I haven't tried them yet, but they look to be decent and the numbering as far as I understand it is identical to the old paints.
Obvious you thin your paints whit water, but you use best demineralized water, a few drops of IPA alcohol and a drop of dish wash soap on a liter.
You can use water based paints and solvent based paints together, but you can't mix them, and a water based paint needs to be applied first an can be overpainted by a solvent based, but not the other way around.
And a last notice, depending on the brand of water based paints, it can be more glossy or Matt finish.
Of course you always can determine it in the end with a gloss or Matt varnish.
I do hope you like my tips, and keep on making these video's…
    Cheers, Danny

At 31.00 you pick up a coach and exclaim "What is that?"
It's a Hornby Royal Mail coach. There are two levers on the underside. When it goes over a ramp on the track, a door will open on one side of the coach. It would pick up a mail bag from a hook at the side of the track. When the lever on the other side hits another ramp a door on the opposite side opens and throws out the mail bag into a bin at the side of the track.
I've still got one in the Attic.
