Back when in 1974 i was in 7th grade, my buddy had a brand new xr 75, he got kicked out of math class one day, so he went home, got his xr 75, came back to school and was riding wheelies all over the school yard, the teacher ran to the window, everyone else too, she was yelling and screaming at him, he took off, she ran to the principals office, man that was a cool day !
I got my first motorcycle when I was 7 yrs. old.It was a Honda CT 70.When I turned 10 yrs. old I got a 1975 Honda XR 75.It looked just like this one.I remember thinking what a big difference this bike was over the CT 70.....
My first bike when I was 11 years old !!!!!! Whew... All my friends w SL 70's hated me Hahahaha. I would love to have that bike. Got me hooked for life. God bless America
I had the same bike I loved it my cousin bought it and still has it , he also bought my mt 125 . I tried to get them back over the years it sucks to actually know were your childhood bikes are and you cant get them .
I am happy to say I kept mine and still have it today. We purchased it brand new from a Honda dealer in Pasadena California. When I was young I took the stock exhaust off and replaced it with this same Hooker Header. I was wondering if anyone knows if this exhaust pipe was meant have packing in them or not. I did a restore of mine a few years ago but couldn't remember if I needed to pack it. Glad to see and hear one with this header on it. This one sounds like it has no packing in it.
How sweet that sound that race pipe is thats how i know the XR-75 sounded like real loud.My cousin had a full race honda dax 80 cc 125 caberator a race pipe that sounded so loud the blow back was just as huge speed way handle bars it was very fast and very loud.
Great vid again interesting to see what bike you get next some bike I forgot about pop up and it's like yeah I remember that bike a mate of mine had one years ago wonder what he do now funny how a bike can make you remember things
About 76' I put Cr125 forks and Rm 250 shocks on my sisters Xr 75,chopped the muffler off, course the rear brake didn't work, but my problem wasn't slowing down. Pissed off lotta guys on bigger bikes and was fun to ride, fun to watch them look at my lil Frankenstein bike, shake their heads and stomp off.
Jeff Ward whooped the rice burners for the world minicycle motocross championship on one of those. I had a 73. The exhaust on this one is not stock however. Surprised he didn't mention that.
Some XR-75's had CDI ignition they flew on the dirt track. Most of the XR-75's that i saw had a rebore too 80cc full race engine port polished they where so loud with the race pipe on and fast.
Man, it do sound good, don't it? I had a '78 XR75, put a Bassani pipe on 'er. Sounded, and went like a raped ape. Or, at least I thought so at 10 years old. I used to ride with the older kids, and they were running Super Trapp headers, and cans on their bigger XR's, but I liked the sound of that Bassani. Those were the days, huh. Still ride, and will as long as I can hold a bike up.
How does anybody on one of these and not put more than 25 hours on it? That is the same year model I had and it survived two years of extreme hard riding. Everybody else had bigger dirt bikes so I push it to the limit which gave me better riding skills. My next bike would be a 1976 Honda CR125 which destroyed all local competition in my neighborhood.
Ken, WHY didnt you replace the rings while you were in there?????? Dude whats up with that?? I need to come there and straighten out your shop. They lose there elasticity after 45 years of being compressed into the cylinder. Next time you need to check with me first... Scott

Between this 74'and the 78'with the DG pipe,The 74' with the Hooker pipe sings the best note to me,resembling a Norton Manx.

The XR-75's that had CDI ignition had its fly wheel taken out which made the throttle more in use like a speed way dirt bike.
Fly whell taken out ? Could you pls explain it more .thanks
I knew a kid that had one and never rode it
That thing sounds sick! killer hooker pipe! I had a new '74 xr in '74
