the 1974 Honda XR75 was my first bike !! I remember the day my Dad came home with TWO of them new from the dealer. One for me and one for my younger brother. Eventually hill climbed then motocrossed it. Only mods were changing the 14 tooth front sprocket to a 13 tooth and a J&B racing header exhaust. made the bottom end take off alot better.
First bike I ever rode but was not mine and I only rode it once for like 5 minutes. Was the best looking bike in the 70’s for kids I thought. 40 years later I finally got my own bike 1985 Nighthawk 650 but still love the old XR75.
I saw one in the shop in 1977. $200 Australian, but my Mum and Dad said a firm, no! No legal areas to ride around in our locality. Mum and Dad didn't care for buying a trailer, tow bar etc., and driving me out to some paddock in the country so I could crash it. Three sisters. It was never gonna happen. I looked over the side fence so enviously as my neighbour road his Honda SL70 ceaselessly all over the place. How jealous and hopeless I felt. It took me until 30 years of age, in some juvenile despair, when I just stepped back into teenage 13 year-old brain space and bought a bike.
Crazy how this mysteriously popped up in my UA-cam newsfeed I just bought one at a yard sale for $50 took a picture of it and this pops up thank you Google UA-cam whoever you are maybe you can send me some parts?

$365 , 1973 , my dad said that's only a dollar a day , son..
.at 3 dollars a grass cut, weed , cigs and beer , a 11 year old can only do so much..
I owned this bike and it was a blast
