In this world today-- no debt, no credit score --> no house. The world wants to control people, make them jump through hoops and play games for the privilege of slaving away for the roof over your head, with never enough time to enjoy the roof over your head. My guess is that many of us are nomads choosing something better than that. God bless us every one.

Believe it or not Bob, I live in a house but I've applied several things you've taught us over time in an effort to survive in a 3rd world country with lengthy power cuts and expensive electricity and fuel. By the way, we still pay more for fuel than you guys and our salaries are a fraction of US salaries. I have bought an inverter with a solar panel to carry me through for power supply, I have started a small online business to supplement my pension and I've started using butane gas for cooking and baking with an Omnia oven that you recommended as well as a Coleman oven for bread baking which is fabulous. My thoughts are with you guys in the States during these horrific economic times. Best wishes from Cape Town. ❤🇿🇦

I am right with you Bob. Given the facts about our daily life here in America, your philosophy makes sense. When I first started listening to you I didn't have a savings. Now I have a $5000.00 cushion and no credit debt. My habit now is that every bit of income I make I put something in savings. Even if its only $10.00. It's a commitment I made to myself. Thanks for all you do. I look forward to listening to this new series.

It’s the same thing they have been doing for years. When I worked in medical I had to change our billing for Medicare at the first of the year. They would give increases in one area and take it away in another. I realized that is what they do with everything. When minimum wages go up, they take it away with price hikes. That’s when I realized that you will never be able to get ahead as a society because EVERYTHING is controlled at the top. Once they raise costs, you will never see it go down until we see a collapse. It’s definitely coming.

We (my husband and I) started working to get out of debt 15 - 20 years ago. The first step like you said was to save a Emergency fund. The next step was to live as frugally as possible while we paid off revolving debt. It took us three years to pay off $50,000 in credit cards, car loans and such. We still had a mortgage but we were determined to pay that off early too. We also made a commitment to each other to never buy anything we didn't have the cash to pay for. I know it sounds counter intuitive but the freedom that comes from living on a budget well below your means is exhilarating. Budgetting has also let us pay off our home and pay cash for vehicles. Then when the lock-downs for the pandemic took down the company that my husband worked for he was out of work for nearly a year and when he did find a job he ended up making almost half of what he did before. My work too was taken by the pandemic. This would have devastated us before and while it's not fun we have adjusted surprisingly easily. We had spent years making huge house payments to pay off the house early and had made the last payment about 3 years before the pandemic. Since then we had still lived within the same budget just saved the house payments. We are blessed, but if we had not been planning for a rainy day then when the flood hit we would have been washed away or at the very least trying to hold back the flood with an umbrella. Budget isn't the dirty word that people think it is, there is safety and hope in that word. I hope you don't mind this comment from someone who isn't a nomad.

Yep, I know exactly what you are living we had a windfall ( real estate deal ) close in 2008 on the very day the stock market crashed. Because the banks had closed we got our check the next day after the banks had reopened and the stock market resumed trading we were able to close escrow.... Anyway we got that check and the wife and I paid off everything including the home in full and have been dept free ever since.
The pandemic was a breeze for us but we remain extremely frugal. With the economy in shambles now I think the worst is yet to come so we're being even more frugal. I'm doing all the repairs on our vehicles and home that I can and we cook at home and rarely go out. I love shopping for grocery deals and enjoy canning food and building a pantry that will keep us in food for two years out at least. The food I put up 2 years ago has already almost doubled in price and home canned food is so delicious.

I have no dept and own everything outright. I live on a small S.S. income and I try to be frugal and self sufficient. At one point in my life I lost everything to the system and the economy downturn. My wife passed away a year and half ago. I know times are hard and sorrow deep, but thru it all there is great uncertainty which keeps us going. Whichever you choose, live is to be lived! Most of the items I purchase help me save money down the road. I eat a whole-food plant-based meals to stay healthy so as not to give money to doctors and pharmaceuticals (pills). I'm 74 years old, lost 40 lbs. being plant-based and feel healthier than I did in my 40's! I plan to full-time travel for many more years! Believe me there are plenty of those people out there and they're only going to get more plentiful with the shortages soon arising. As you get older you get more vulnerable because of your physical capabilities declining. What works now may not work in just a short while. Plan for that prior. My hat is off to you sir. 110% Maintenance is a huge thing. Always do regular maintenance on your vehicle. I can't stress this enough. Inspect your vehicle ever so often and don't ignore any leaks you find trying to save money. It's easier and cheaper to fix a leak than it is to fix something that's now broken because you ignored the leak. And if you do nothing else, get regular oil changes done, or do them yourself. It can mean the difference between having an engine that last 50k miles or 200k miles and beyond. Engines can last a very long time with proper care and maintenance. As a nomad trying to save money or on a limited budget, being your own mechanic will save you so much time and money.

If we ever needed to escape our house, we’d take that and go to various land that we own. Or come out to Arizona for awhile. Maybe run into you 😃 You’re right. You have to have a plan! It’s a great thing you do here, giving people ideas, options for living 👍🏻

I watched a video from another UA-cam person who was dispersed camping last year in Eastern Oregon in a forest. She sent her drone up to look around and saw a forest fire not very far away so she decided to pack up.
I think if you are camping way out and maybe don't have any signal it might be good to have a drone to look around. It doesn't have to have a 4k camera or be expensive, but it could be useful for spotting a fire before it blocks your way out.
It can also be useful for scouting a road before you drive down it if you aren't sure about getting stuck or being able to turn around, although I would probably walk or ride a bike down to have a better idea than a drone would give.

I live in super high fire danger area in Nor Cal and this past yr a really bad winter storm dropped a tree on my car and left me without power for 16 days. In part thanks to you I now have an RV as my "bugout" vehicle to escape the fires in the summer and snow in the winter and if necessary live in should my area burn. My dad took savings to a bit of an extreme... but it had some pluses. What he drummed into us was NEVER EVER buy anything that you don't have the cash to pay for. Wait, and save your money... get a second job if you must... but do NOT borrow money. Borrowed money COSTS money... you're making somebody else rich.
It may well mean hardship at the beginning. . but it will pay off in the end.
I not only payed cash for my vehicle, I paid cash for my modest home ... I started saving for my first house when I was 15. We ate a LOT of pasta, no fancy clothes, used a tea bag 2 times, did stay-cations, had only 2 kids.. took on occasional extra work..drove our cars into the ground, and that's how we finally got a bit ahead. Plus... I planned, I read, I bought a new car BEFORE prices spiked.... with cash. Money makes money. It takes quite a while.. but the pay off.. imho.. is worth it.

I have been struggling for years after a nasty divorce left me financially devastated and struggling to pay rent, bills, I had to stay in a house while the kids lived with me..... so I plan on working as much as I can and cutting my outgoings....no rent or council tax, gas, electric and water will help. It will be just me so I can cope on scarce pickings.
I will be debt free eventually...so, full-time vanlife end of June, early July.
I'm digging up my garden and giving it to friends, I have people who are happy to let me park up by theirs and use facilities if needed.

Since starting to watch your videos all those years ago, I got out of debt ($10k) and started saving. I’ve got about 20k. I stopped being a good consumer, I buy only what I need now. It’s pretty incredible, because my income dropped by 50% when I had to stop working, and I wasn’t saving then! I’m a prepper, and have a year of food or more stored. I did just buy a hand grinder for wheat, as I’m on the grid, but my electric grinder isn’t going to work if things go really south. Loved the video, and I agree with at leas 99.9% of everything you said... thanks for making it. I grew up in a military family and we had the 6 P's too, similar but slightly different... Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance.

I boondock all the time in my RV, it never ceases to amaze me how many WORKING people are living in cars and tents. They come to camp late at night and leave early in the morning. If I had to pay rent on my retirement, I would be homeless.

Same happening in Australia. Many families with working parents don't earn enough to pay rising rents and are having to live in tents and cars. Disgraceful how a basic need (a home) is unaffordable for so many. There has to be a big shake up in the capitalist situation.
