Hey Zach, I'm an aerospace machinist and have been in the industry over a decade at this point. You had some good ideas up to getting the part clamped down well enough to hold it in place, but something to keep in mind. The endmills are going to also be applying lifting pressure along the helix of the cutter, and the Mitee Bites are applying lateral pressure to hold it. One thing I would look into for your shop is making an aluminum subplate for the table and drill/tapping a grid of pin and tapped holes for work holding and locating. This will let you bolt down subplate fixtures in repeatable locations, but also gives you a soft aluminum plate to drill into. Generally, I would suggest having your fixturing on subplates so that you can create custom cut outs necessary for your operations. In particular with this piece, if the holes that you drilled to not have to be blind holes, you can drill all the way through the part and then use those holes to clamp the part into. If you only pocket out the part on the first operation, that would also leave you with excess on the outer profile so that you can drill into that excess for workholding on your second operation.
@@jwalster9412 All of the airplane parts we make are aluminum and we use aluminum fixtures with steel bolts. Depending on the finish requirements that he is after, that is what a decent deburr job is for.
@@jwalster9412 typically, minor Al-Al scratches at this phase won’t be an issue. He will drop the parts in a ball mill before anodizing or paint:powder coat if looking for production. This is mostly for prototyping quickly. Full production will be elsewhere I’m sure.
I was coming to say the same thing. Should have bolted it from the bottom to finish up the backside. Seeing the part come out with doors open had me slightly worried one would come his way.
@@jwalster9412 you won't scratch it if you clamp/hold it properly and if you're doing ot for yourself it's not a big deal of it's scratched, unless you're selling the parts

@@gabriel159753159753 One person with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, one with Cerebral Palsy (so both of those since birth), and then a third person due to a stroke. I took my drivers license test in an old 12 passenger wheelchair van when I was 16. It’s the only way of living we’ve ever known, so it’s all good.
I've never had to use a wheelchair for an extended period of time but I've had over 30 surgeries/procedures on my feet and know how difficult it can be to get around sometimes, most of the time after my surgeries I just get laid up for anywhere from a couple days to a couple months, luckily I'm quite young yet and still live with my family and they are extremely helpful in getting me everything I need while I'm in recovery, if I was on my own I'd definitely need a wheelchair for my recovery periods. All in all super cool project as always, love the content and I love that you're trying to make the world a better place :) not many people actually do that, they just say they'll do that so I appreciate the actual attempt. For the machining of the gearbox, i would suggest screwing the gearbox on a mounting plate (from the bottom when machining the 2nd side). That way, you can clamp the mounting plate on the table (instead of the part itself) and not be worried it will come loose with all the pulling force of the milling process!
If you wanna go a step further into production mode, you can use locating pins in the mounting plate on a jig to always put it back in the exact same spot, clamping and pressing cycle start on the milling. It would help with production speed

The failing fixings reminded me of my time in the 90s as a tool setter and programmer on Mazak H400N 4-axis horizontal milling machines with a 60 tool magazine. ah a small little Tormach, should be plenty for prototyping and will probably be interesting to watch. you will definitely need to learn to properly use your ficturing, get a solid vice that you can use for first op, usually with cerated jaws to only hold on to 3-5mm of your raw stock, second op soft jaws ore ficturing, the ficture can easily be bolted down to the table with some simple T-Nuts ore put in a vice. When indicating you should try to avoid doing so on raw stock since it can easily be out of alignment, for ficturing that means truing to machine at least part of the sides for indicating.

You might say, your lucky not to be in that wheelchair. Believe me I'm not complaining one bit. Awesome! I'm commenting to add to the engagement so people that can use these might see it.
This seems like an amazing program/product
This guy is the person I think we should all strive to be
Most men aren't strong enough...that's why they're not striving like that. They're too lazy and unambitious. And that's the life that suits them.
Love the behind the scenes as always! Can't wait to see what you guys come up with next.
I have been following and watching content on this channel for the past 3 years now and I am really impressed - from breaking phones to now working on serious projects that impact lives, easily one of my best channels on UA-cam.
Two wonderful people doing wonderful things in a world in need of wonder. Great job Zach and Cambry! 💙💪👍🙌👩🦽
ah a small little Tormach, should be plenty for prototyping and will probably be interesting to watch.
you will definitely need to learn to properly use your ficturing, get a solid vice that you can use for first op, usually with cerated jaws to only hold on to 3-5mm of your raw stock, second op soft jaws ore ficturing, the ficture can easily be bolted down to the table with some simple T-Nuts ore put in a vice.
When indicating you should try to avoid doing so on raw stock since it can easily be out of alignment, for ficturing that means truing to machine at least part of the sides for indicating.
You two make me proud. With my back & knee problems, my doctor @ the time told me I would be in a wheelchair by the time I was 50yo. Well I've past that milestone, I'm not 57yo.
My back & knees are getting worse. Last year I had to have rods, 2 cement disks, & they said something about stem cells to help regrow bone where bone in crumbling. Well I feel like that rod thing is going to shoot out over my left kidney @ anytime & I'm lucky to stand more then 30 minutes to try to cook supper. But in a lot of pain.
You might say, your lucky not to be in that wheelchair. Believe me I'm not complaining one bit. I know it could be worse & I thank God everyday morning, noon, & night for giving me longer, 7yos so far, from that wheelchair. I'm just trying to tell Zack & Cambrey that I'm so, so, proud of what their doing for the wheelchair community. Helping this community who would or have a hard time, getting off trail & seeing our amazing planet 🌏 & not making a killing of money off this wheelchair community. There not thinking about their wallet, their thinking of inventions to help this community to get off trail with their families & enjoy different terrain of the beautiful outdoors smells - freshness & something better then concrete & carbon monoxide that's in all our cities & is killing us.
So with that said Congratulations you two & God bless everything you two do,
Chris from Missouri
P.S. please let Zack have more toys bc he really loves to play with them & tell us about them...... lol....
Just got my coin and the lovely pic of you both! Thanks for all that you guys do and are going to do! Cant wait to see how it progresses!
Thank you for the support!
Looking at your gearbox, I wonder if the two halves might need to “key together” in a future iteration? Seems like the misalignment torque imparted by those gears is gonna be pretty high. Congrats on the Tormach: very cool!
Tormach gotta be happy about this. For many people this could be their first exposure to what even is a CNC mill, and having the Tormach brand etched in their brain is priceless brand association.
You guys are heroes without a cape🤝🏼♥️ humanity at its finest.
I was grinning from ear to ear watching this video.❤
More, please👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
The coins are a really great idea, the design looks awesome!
It's been said already, but it would be great if you guys could find a way to ship them internationally. I know the logistics of such things can be complicated, but even if international buyers have to cover the extra shipping costs, I bet people worldwide would be lining up to buy them and be more than happy to do that. As an American living in Australia, I certainly would.
Keep up the great work, you're going to change so many lives with this!
I'll get it fixed later today
@@JerryRigEverything Awesome to hear!
Great coin idea, supports the project and raises awareness. I hope that the destination of the coins is not limited. Regarding the gearbox, I would suggest oil and the function of sprinkling the gears for a longer life.
So awesome that you picked them up as a channel sponsor! Low key jealous really. If you end up with any open machine time you want to make fingers for my channel?
Keep it up, you're doing great things!
It would be awesome if you guys were able to work together. I've loved seeing the progress you've been making on your hand!
LOVE this channel and this new business/direction. True innovators look for ways or avenues to completely upend a business model! That is exactly what you both are doing, I am 100% behind it! 10-pack was a no-brainer for me. PLEASE.....keep doing you!!
Thank you!
Someone with the power to do something meaningful is actually doing it, I think I am gonna cry.
I got really excited as soon as I figured out you were unboxing a mill. I got the chance to use CNC mills and manual mills in high school and college, if I had the space for one I would absolutely own it. Love what you guys are doing with NotaWheelchair. I would enjoy more videos watching what you guys are creating!
This is so awesome. Can you show us how the tiny pieces of aluminium are getting recycled?
That is some machine! The gearbox housing you made amazes, and it looks like it's ready to use. Your 'this is not a wheelchair' creation must be evolving into a more affordable, durable, and efficient ride for more disabilities. Nothing in outdoor mobility for disabilities touches the freedom and enjoyment your product(s) promise and at a fraction of the cost. You've created something most people love - freedom. Exciting times - Thank You!
I’ve been following you for a long time and extremely impressed with your dedication. I am so very glad to see that you 2 are taking on technology to assist.
Welcome to the amazing world of cnc .. I have one in my small shop , it's been my best friend and employee for yrs ..
God bless have fun
Those coins look like they take a long time to make one by one. I hope y’all can keep up with the orders
Great work that you are both doing. May you be blessed abundantly for all that you do to help others.
Are you using skim or 2% for that coolant?
Whole milk vitamin D baby
This couple put hope in humanity. When one guy tries to destroy another country. This couple, with their team, try to help people in need. With a wheelchair, the library.. others projects. 👏👏👏
That’s a great idea to come up with the coins and also the Treasure Chest you can buy with the coins! I would love to see a Collab with Cam on merch. “He either really likes it or has no idea how to get rid of it” lmfao
My favorite channel fo all time. Keep up the good work Jerry, & I love how Cambry now speaks like you. :) You both are a gem. God Bless you.
4:06 one of the things both Linus and Zack have in common XD
can't wait to get someone who's gonna make my life a lil bit harder
Yes, please! Behind the scenes will be much appreciated.
Hello Jerry, love from Assam, India ❤️
Love from Telangana
His name is not Jerry
@@dud1n I know, I followed him from many years. But he is known as Jerry
Gotta say I've been waiting for a new big project since the hummer. Glad to see this direction. Best of luck on the new business and projects. Stoked to watch all the cool new videos!
Who else thinks Zack should do a durability test for the box? 🤔
Humbled just watching you man - your energy, perseverance and dedication is awe inspiring. You are an example to us all.
I donated $100, as a 12 year paramedic I love what you guys are doing! You should have a $250 option as well!! I would have donated that so a person could live life! The US government doesn’t support people with needs well enough! I love you guys and your story! Please keep being amazing!
Now THIS is a coin that should be supported!
"The first step to be really good at something is being really bad at something. Practice makes perfect." - JerryRigEverything, 2022
Perfect is the enemy of good
Glad to help support! As someone with Charcot Marie Tooth I really appreciate what you guys are doing!
Does the box scratch at a level 6 with deeper grooves at a level 7?
Try typing something original....
@@girlsdrinkfeck something original
It should
Those coins look freaking cool! I'm gonna get one. Happy to support everything you guys are doing, It's a real need that you are filling. Can't wait to see what's next!
Love the cause and dedication! I've got a 1100mx myself. If I may suggest, when drilling I always use "deep drilling" in fusion 360. This cycle will do multiple pecks to the depth, helps clear chips, and makes a straighter hole. Especially good for small drills.
Love what you're doing! I have Spina Bifida and have been losing my ability to walk on my own the past few years. My scooter can only go so far when I'm outdoors. Hopefully you have plans in the future to make one with a larger weight capacity. Keep it up!
Our 4wd version will be capable.
Zack, Zack, I see you have jumped down the rabbit hole of machining manufacturing. Best of luck with figuring out programming, fixturing, tooling, tools speeds and feeds, tolerances, surface finishes, and all that good stuff. Enjoy!
Soft voices and soft hearts. Amazing effort, much love!
Good luck! Wishing that it starts helping people Soon !
that's just what I can do in this project at the moment .or can see the project come to reality .
If it is limited for the place u live hopefully it will one day reach rest of the world too 😗
Thanks so much for all you are doing!
You guys are wonderful. 🤩👏🏽 May you achieve all your goals. Stay blessed.
Your easily one of my favorite channels to watch videos about a whole bunch of things!! I really want to meet you and I think your videos are fantastic!!
Thank you so much! I just bought a bunch and will distribute the coins around the ALS community here to spread the word! I'm super excited about your new project!
Love your channel and what your doing with your notawheelchair. I just ordered 3x coins and you helped our family to pick out the Anker 737 / 57 battery pack with 3 solar panels too.
this guys is awesome god bless him and his wife. definitely one of my favorite youtuber his videos are always interesting.
Hi guys , I’m so impressed with you too. Your such a beautiful couple. I very much understand. I work in medical transportation and often carry patients in a wheelchair van. It is a humbling experience but at the end of the day it makes it a bit easier to feel you maybe made a difference. I’ve seen what it does to people who are not respected b/c they are in a wheelchair or can’t enter a building that’s not wheelchair accessible. Your inventions help people enjoy the great outdoors, something to many never experience. You are true heroes !!! 💖♿️
behind the scenes is always nice to watch. even mistakes, the learning curve for a CNC machine must be interesting since its like a 3D printer but doing the opposite.
It is great and inspiring to see you both working on these projects, the blessings you are being to peoples lives is amazing to watch.
This is a fantastic idea from some great people. I hope to help.
