i've seen RWD m340 hang with G80s but they were running E50. Xdrive is heavier and on 91 not surprising result!
Yeah that makes more sense. We’ll retest on e50
S58 are no joke i only got half a car on a stock m4 competition. With e50 on eBay turbos with my e90
I'm honestly shocked it's that big of a difference! i'm sold on the S58's. I'd love to see some dragy numbers from these B58 guys on 91.

Honestly it didn't seem like it was running that well on 91! It was getting beaten worse than expected, for sure!
I really wanna know what that M340 is making for power I had a M340 jb4 down pipe on 93 and I would hang neck and neck with a g80 stock.
I also have a 2024 m2 now and I understand how fast it is.
That’s not reality unfortunately. Maybe the G80 owner didn’t know how to drive, started in the wrong gear, or manual transmission. B58s need ethanol to be close to a stock s58

91 sucks I agree. B58s respond well to ethanol. Stay tuned for that race

Jesus, I was expecting the M340 to hold the gap from a dig. I didnt realize how much E added on these cars. I'm pricing out tunes for my G87 right now, car's gonna be an absolute monster
The 91 Oct... is that Arizona / California / Nevada 91? Because that is essentially semi-flammable piss.
Either way, you both were on the piss; there is a clear difference. I am curious as to how he would match up with a dialed in tune for his Stage 2 car (I imagine you'd still pull), as OTS tunes are fairly conservative.

Oof man that poor B58. I honestly was not expecting that big of a gap vs a stage 2. B58 just has no top end with that small stock turbo.
His setup is not great, coupled with poor 91 fuel!
It’s not necessarily that it doesn’t have top end, the s58 just simply makes more power.
On e50 will be way closer to a stock s58
Stock turbos can make good top end you can’t expect to have crazy top end when he is just on 91 Ots
@@JVette01 based on his mods the power levels should be pretty similar. In every race he hangs on the hit then starts running out of steam. Two different design philosophy’s for 2 similar but different engines.
Look at most Dyno sheets for B58 Vs S58, the tq curve drops a lot faster on the B58 VS the S58

Has anyone measured stock s58 performance on 91 vs 93? Here in commiefornia I’ve only been able to try 91
I’m not sure how big of a difference it is. Maybe if I ever take it out of state I could test it, but the conditions would be different
I think it would be a solid run against the Golf R. I think he will still pull on it but wouldn’t be a bad video. Also glad you made this video to shut up all the guys in denial about what a S58 is compared to a B58
I think it would be fun with the R but M340 will probably walk it. Still down. And yes, exactly! Some people were saying the M240i I raced was “broken” and Carwow tested “just a jb4 and it was neck and neck.” They never stopped to ask themselves, hmm maybe something is up with the Carwow results?

The Carwow car was European model with OPF… which is why the M2 sounded like nothing when revved. The M240i clearly had his OPF removed based on the sound difference. That alone is a substantial gain/loss. The s58 is obviously the superior motor in every metric, and I say that as a B58 owner. (Who plans to get an M2 eventually…)
That said…
I do think this guy’s m340i is clinging to life on his gas though. The reason I say that is that the Car and driver test on the g87 M2 the car traps 118mph and runs a 10.7 60-130. A modified M340i should be able to easily match that. I have a RWD f30 340i and with just a 93 tune all stock hardware my car was able to trap 118mph and run low 11s 60-130. So a stock m2 would still roll out but it wouldn’t be like the massive disparity displayed here, you walked past the him like he was standing still. The G series ARE heavier and he is X-Drive but the TU is also a bit spicier of a motor so it should be closer to a wash. Now on 🌽 my car can trap mid 120s so I think if he gets some ethanol and his car is running healthy otherwise AND you stay stock the roles would be reversed.
S58 on a tune though… That’s another level. Us B58 have to swap the turbo to get into that playing field. It’s why g87 M2 is my next car…

That is hilarious. Where are all these fake stages coming from? A stage 2 m340i will do 10.8-11s in the 1/4 mile, and you're almost at 12s yet gaining on him at the 1/8 already. A stock M340i can do 11.9-12s flat, so even then your best chance would be to even out with him at the end. I've seen an x3 m40i stage 2 doing 11.1s. Find some real opponents? This is just clickbaiting at this point, no offense :)

You need to remember our DA is usually 3000+ the altitude and DA plays such a huge role in what these cars run. A E50 M340i usually runs 11.2

@01 If CarWow races an M4 Competition against a stock M440i, and off a dig the M4 only evens out by the 1/4 mile, no way is your RWD M2 with 460hp beating a legitimate stage 2 M340i by the 1/8 mile, and gaining on it as if that's a Corolla. That's just hilarious. Even in your own videos a Stage 2 4 cylinder Golf is right beside you against your M2.

crazy how some people think BMW would only make their ever more expensive S58 engine slightly faster than the B58.
S58 is next level, but B58 has proven itself as an incredible engine with tons of reliable tuning capability! B58 has all its torque in the lower rev range, which lots of people prefer for daily driving!
Both are great engines! Some people just have the wrong idea when it comes to “just a jb4 and you’re as fast as an S58”
@JVette01 100% agree because the S58 is making a lot more horsepower when both cars are stock!
even the S55 is more powerful than the B58. I've beaten tuned B58s with my Stock M4 F82. Now I'm stage 2.
@yg78t76t7 Absolutely, since it's still a twin turbo vs. a single turbo in the B58! B58 won't have the same turbo lag because it's a twin scroll turbo!
The E50 will turn the M340i into a beast. Vegas 91 octane sucks. There is a Rebel Oil gas station on the strip that has E85.
I heard E50 is a huge difference. Well run it back

Every car on your channel that is not your M2 is performing way way waaaay below how it should :)). Not by pointing out carwow or something but this is not ok. If that g42M240i rwd is not doing 61-125mph under 10 sec stock, that is not ok. This M340i STOCK should be 10.5-11 sec 61-125mph. From that video, isn't.
Keep in mind we’re on 91 octane and horrible conditions. We’re not on 93 at sea level.
Need to get a hellcat and zl1 it be neck to neck
