I feel like Margot also has undying love for her family and carries it through her clothes. The tennis dress matches Richies ensemble to indicate their feelings for one another, also to blend in with both her brothers sports attire. The purse and shoes is attribute to her mother's real class and vanity. The fur coat represents she carries apart of her father and his liklieness of showing off her wealth like he does.
I love this movie & Gwyneth nailed it. I wish she did more roles like this. Also you could seriously do an entire series based off of every character in this film.
Loved this video. would appreciate if “anatomy of a style icon” videos became a small series on this channel! There’s a lot of great style icons in film.
Mine too, although I do rate "Moonrise Kingdom" and "Rushmore" highly as well. In my opinion, Gwyneth's performance here was more captivating and compelling than her Oscar winning turning in "Shakespeare in Love".🏆💕
@@dyutiparnaguha8693 Mine too, there's not a film of his that I've downright disliked, as there's such a charming quirkiness and whimsical nature which permeates his entire work. 😊
As a burnt out gifted kid (gifted in reading, writing and general vocabulary) I relate so closely to margot, she is such an important character to me,as I relate to her due to that creative nature and the demise of that creativity happening so quickly
her makeup always made me think of edie sedgwick, so it carries this sort of “poor little rich girl” image. bob dylans song about edie, “like a rolling stone”, fits margots character perfectly imo!
This was absolutely brilliant!!! My favorite Wes Anderson movie to date, I think often times it’s easier to take granted his movies depth because they are visually appealing. I love how this video sheds light on the fact that his movies aren’t just beautiful for the sake of beauty and there is a lot of deeper meaning behind every visual aspect.
Another video analysis that I didn't know I needed until this moment!😍 Please make a video about "The Umbrella Academy", as much like "The Royal Tenenbaums", it focuses on how children can be scarred by their upbringing well into adulthood.
I read somewhere that a large part of what prevents siblings from developing romantic feelings for one another is seeing each other being nursed and cared for by their parents while growing up. If that's true then it's not that unbelievable or weird that siblings adopted later in childhood, or step-siblings (like Cher and Josh in 'Clueless') fall in love.
Fantastic review of one of the best films of all time, The Royal Tenenbaums. Margot Tenenbaum character is definitely one of cinema’s most stylistic and influential. Kudos to Wes Anderson and Gwyneth.
Her clothes didn't matter to me. I've always been attracted to kinda strange, introverted, not beautiful, but not ugly women. They just are more genuine and not stuck on themselves. Also, they seem to care about things deeply; no matter what THAT THING may be. PEACE AND PROSPERITY TO ALL.
I'm inspired by this movie to dress to reflect my personality, past and mind.I have childhood trauma which caused schizophrenia so i dress in old fashioned, childlike dresses then i pair them with doc marten mary janes with white frilly socks over fishnet tights usually (my go to uniform) then i have a septum piercing and eyeliner which clashes with my girlish long blonde hair which has a blunt fringe, i usually wear headbands too...i personally love when people dress in a way that reflects their inner self rather than following trends
I really enjoyed your 'anatomy of Margot's style', but for someone who hasn't seen the film, they might be excused for thinking it a serious drama, when in fact it's one of the funniest films I've ever seen.
Yes, Wes Anderson has said that this family is based off the Glass family (Franny and Zooey Glass, they also feature in A Perfect Day for Bananafish and Seymour, and and Introduction/Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters

Agreed, I hope that they compare the original Sabrina with the comparatively darker version, and discuss what makes them similar and different to the other.❤
@@jenlindley7780 I don't think it would be silly if it was done as a general study of witches on Movies and TV. Withes are heavily related with being the other, fear of the other, goddess-whore dichotomy and the view on witches is heavily correlated with society's view of women: Specifically independent women who do not need men and/or refuses to conform to the standards of patriarchy. I only recently put together that the work of Edward Gorey, a writer who accompanied 1 - 2 lines of text to an elaborately crosshatched illustration, and whose work was on the ironic side, influenced Wes Anderson. Edward Gorey himself almost always wore a knee- length fur coat.
I think it’s interesting how the biological Tenenbaums have darker hair whiles she’s blonde, and when she’s with her birth family, who are all blonde, she has her hair dyed black, showing that she feels she’s never really fit in with any family
Yes, I'd love if they made a video about how Janis was originally the "Queen Bee" in her friendship with Regina, but in her bid for revenge against Regina through Cady, becomes just as sneaky and manipulative as her former frenemy.
She reminds me a lot of myself. Possibly suffering from bpd, pisces sun and moon, Aquarius rising 🤞🏻also Richie is adopted too I think it wasn't mentioned in the video
@@MaRyaYTOfficial I mean I said pisces sun&moon and aqua rising just because those are also my placements and I see her really close to me. But yea totally see the scorpio sun now that you mention it. Why the other placements you think?
@@apricotblossom2991 well I say Scorpio mercury because shes very blunt but withholding, she speaks with intensity in a way, now that I think, I feel as though she has a Leo venus, fixed energy, she wears the same clothes, child like, but she knows who she is. She also caring to her "brother" that she loves in a Leo way, warm and focusing attention on who interests her for the time being. Also instead of cancer rising, i'd say Aquarius rising, slender, her own sense of identity, unique, kinda aloofish. But a Scorpio rising isnt impossible either, her seeming mysterious and more of a longer. Another fixed sign. For her very fixed energy
With the vast funds of the morbidly wealthy that these streaming services enjoy, you'd think they could find some good stories, screenplay writers, directors and pay for original music in their soundtracks. The Killer (Netflix) was an encouraging step in the right direction. Had a relationship, decades ago, in the 1980s. She introduced me to Patti Smith's Horses. I introduced her to Talking Heads' Remain in Light. Always used to wear those old fashioned slips when we were home at our apartment. I don't know how comfortable they were but our son will turn forty in the spring.
Random take but at the end where the narrator is telling us to find ourselves with a montage of great women in films and their outfits and ensembles there were no examples of Black Women. I can relate to some of these women but its kind of a bummer to hear something so inspiring but then only have a certain type of representation. Anywho February is coming up.
