  • Second defender in quick succession and very much the same recipe as the last one. Solid speaker mounting, good affordable but well proven components and a tiny sprinkling of our tuning.
With this job we also fitted the brilliant Sony XAV6050 double din head unit and carried out sound deadening and carpeting to the rear of the vehicle.
This defender came in with an existing system which consisted of some high end components and then a very low end active sub on the back of the arm rest which just buzzed and didn't really sound great. We re used what we could to keep the cost down but added the Hertz Mille Pro 6.5" to the front seat boxes which more than replaced what the active sub was trying to do. With the addition of the DSP amp and extra channels we were able to run a fully active front end as well which is really important in this cars.
The equipment list for this car is as follows:
Sony XAV 6050 with double din facia panel
    Helix M Four DSP
Genesis Compact Four (already in the car)
Morel Ovation 42 (already in the car)
    Hertz MP165.3 woofers
Morel integra slim rear speakers (already in the car)
Chameleon OFC cables and Connection fusing
    Skins 3mm & 2mm deadening
Dodo Mat 6mm closed cell foam
We'd love to hear your feedback, good and bad.

Why go to all that effort and not get the tweeters mounted properly on the top of the dash.

because they had been butchered and stuck into the bottom of that housing. Also they had no grill and the owners kids had already stuck their fingers in the 4". In the future we may swap them for the Hertz MP28 as it will probably be coming back for a sub as well.
