Today I woke up and the house first floor was cold and I knew something was wrong with the HVAC on my 2020 house. Went into the crawl space and noticed that the outlet where the condensation pump was connected was tripped. Unplugged the pump, reset the GFCI, plugged the cord and tripped again. Thanks to your video I was able to understand and disassemble the pump. I then noticed slime on the circuit board but specially on the area where you plug the electric wires. It’s only a 4 year old pump so the water container was clean, just the slime which I cleaned and voila, back in business. You probably saved me around $500. Thank you!
Thanks so much! I thought that before I pull the unit out to clean (which I will this weekend) I'd try running bleach through it. So I put some bleach in, let it sit a few minutes and then poured hot water through. After the bleach was pushed through I put in some cleaning vinegar and again, let it sit a few followed by hot water. It worked!!! No more vibrating sounds! I will definitely pull it apart to clean, I'm sure that there's tons of crud still in there.
Thank you so much for this valuable video, the water wasn’t going outside, so I removed the cover like you show ans manually stRted the pump and it was working. I then removed the valve and cleaned it with a Q tips and reinstalled everything and added water. It had difficulty pumping so I removed the valve once again and drained the water and I blew as hard as I could through the hose. The hose was clogged and now everything is working fine! Thank you 😊
Best video on UA-cam for taking apart the pump! And the only video that showed how to disassemble and clean the check valve. Only thing missing was showing how to clean the impeller.
This is a great video, thank you for posting this. When I opened mine the build up was not the same as yours though. Mine was a black oily coating that was difficult to remove. The heat exchanger on the furnace failed a couple years ago and I’m thinking that was what it was from. Has anyone seen this before?
Hello, very informative video. My condensation pump is leaking. I have Rheem unit. I plan to fix it myself. Is there a way I can send you a image or video to check if the pump is hardwired or not? Is it easy to replace/install hardwired pump without any prior experience? Please let me know.
Hardwired means the pump wire is connected directly to an electric box If its not hardwired the pump wire should be connected to an regular electric outlet exactly like any other electric appliances Ex: tv ,pc
@@fixitsamo Thank you sir. We cleaned the condensation pump as per your video. One thing we encountered, we could not separate motor and wiring from the plastic casing. So could not clean the impeller. We had to insert toothbrush and clean as much as possible. However the other parts we were able to clean. We have model: VCMX 20-ULS 115v. Thanks once again. Video was very helpful.
Number 1 rule in electricity is always to turn of the power or close the breaker unless you're a professional electricien and you have professional equipments Unplugging or turning of the electricity will only stop the pump from working nothing els will be damaged
My pump is running when there is no water in the reservoir and shuts off when there is water, so in the exact reverse as it should work. What could be the issue?
Micro switch Its very possible you didn't place it correctly with the float also Did you install a new 1 Or you unplugged the wires of you're old 1 and started doing that when you pluged it back ? Its either not installed correctly Or you installed a new micro switch that is not the same as the old 1 And some micro switches could be reversed by simply switching the wire connections
@@fixitsamo The float is installed correctly (the metal part of the relay is in between the two pegs on the float). No. My pump is probably 15 years old and has been turning off and on about every 10 seconds for the last six months. All wires are installed correctly.
do you know why the pump may make noise/vibration just at the last maybe 3 seconds of a cycle? It's quiet when it starts to pump and moves water freely, I've cleaned it but it was very clean to start. Just when it nears the end of emptying the reservoir it drones/vibrates and unfortunately it's located between a wall and the furnace, it echoes through the ductwork.. appreciate any insight! ua-cam.com/users/shortsxPlck7tUycM
It sounds like the same issue as my pump cleaning the reservoir is not enough its probably the impeller that push the water i had to clean it using Small brush
@@fixitsamo thanks so much you were right! I blew compressed air back through the impeller housing and rinsed it all out, now the pump has quieted down to it’s normal level. I appreciate the reply 😀
i cleaned and connected the pump back but it squirts water around the drain valve ,and it had a crack on the valve itself had a crack on the threads on one side , im gonna go buy a valve but it was working that way until it stopped , and i noticed in the video you had water in the line before you pour it into the machine to test it AFTER the cleaning , does it need to have water in it or it wont work properly ? because the valve needs to be suspended in order to start ?
to be clear the pump didnt stop the whole ac stope blowing cold air all of a sudden , last year it did this and some ac guy came and replaced a capacitor and didnt do anything to the pump...
yesterday night i took the pump out and it was disgusting inside but seem to wokr mechanically fine ,now it connected and squirted water everywhere near the valve ,its in a crawling place so i couldnt exactly see where around the walve it was ,around the hose or around the valve?
Usually The pump will starts only when the water level gets higher to a specific level that will click the micro switch sending power to the pump making it drain Usually you'll always have a bit of water in the bottom of the tank
If it squirts from there i strongly suggests to change the pump specially if you have any electricity connections or wires around the pump and keep the good parts you might need them later
This was the most relaxing HVAC video I’ve ever watched.

Very detailed instructions. My reservoir looked worse than yours. Almost like jelly. Cleaned everything, and it seems to be working great

Thank you and Welcome

Thx and sorry about the impeller i forgot to push record i used Q-tips and an old tooth brush for cleaning
Than you for the detailed video. Any idea why my motor is running when there is no water and stops when water is full?
I have this exact model.. I don’t recall it ever having been cleaned.. which makes me feel… uncomfortable…
Same!
Great video and was very helpful. Thank you so much.
You're welcome!

I suggest you call a professional cleaning compagnie to clean the Air doks in you're house
Nice exactly my problem lol

How do i not get electrocuted while doing this 😂 should i unplug it? Cause i heard there were issues if you do that

What chemical did you use to clean it?
Dawn soap

Micro switch

In this case You need a new micro switch
I plugged in my and filled the water but no response. What would be the reason be for that ?
verify the float is activating the switch. If switch makes a connection, then the motor is suspect.

Bro help why does my motor thing spin when i DONT push down? But when i press on it, it spins 😭😭
Its possible you flipped the wires on the microswitch
@@fixitsamo wires were fine but i learned I needed a new microswitch bc apparently the function can just reverse like that outta nowhere, fixed now!
