Thanks Chris! I bought one b/c it was all they had at Lowe's but couldn't any 'how to install' videos. Decided to research a little more and your video came up. I'll save myself the trouble.😆

I had one go out tonight, the motor is sticking. I cleaned it, plugged it into test, raised the float, the motor spun a little and stuck. I can turn the spindle by hand but, you can feel it sticking.

Thanks for posting. I have a Diversitech CP-16. The pump works but leaks I'm pretty sure it is level. What are some other causes of leaks?

Possibly the base could have a crack? Or maybe check the check valve where the 3/8 hose hooks too

What are those little clips you used for the connection?

Can you specify what Little Giant you recommend?

I use to like diversitech but not any more. But those pumps have a rubber check valve in them. A few times I just cleaned the check valves, made sure the vynil hose was clean and the pump worked fine. I think thats what happened with yours.

That’s good to know. I have switched back to the little giant heavy duty.

I've got a 4PV2 on my furnace, it has started making a lot of noise when it is doing its thing. Is this a likely sign of imminent failure? Would rather fix it if possible, or replace if I need to under controlled circumstances. Would really rather not take the furnace offline too long as we're about -10 F right now.

Do you recommend Drummond pump sold at harbor freight?

I would stay away from HF, don't get me wrong they have certain things to buy. I do buy stuff from time to time. I would get the Little Giant VCMA-20 these are solid. amzn.to/3TrBRUu

I took mine apart and there was nothing wrong with the pump the problem is the screws that hold the impeller into the sump on the tank they all rusted out so the pump impeller can not build pressure to lift the water. I would suggest to any one who has one replace your screws that hold down the pump to the tank with stainless steel or brass or plastic screws. but if there already rusted out you cant remove what is left of the screws to replace them. I'm thinking of taking it apart removing the pump and the gasket and filling it with muriatic acid to eat what is left of the screws out and then clean it out and replace the screws to fix it and use it as a replacement for when the new pump I bought goes out in the future. Hope this helps.

This is exactly my problem and my pump is as clean as this one.
I have DiversiTech CP-22 Pump on my A/C unit (was install everything new including duct work less than 4 years ago and I rarely use the A/C). The pump turns on but it doesn't seem to pump the water out to the outside so I took it out and it looks brand new and tested the following scenarios:
    - Tested outside and obviously the water rushing out
    - Using the compressor to blow the air through the drain coil and the air comes out at the other end so most likely it's not clogged.
    - Plugging it back w or w/o the one way valve, the pump turns on and I do see the water going through the clear plastic portion (only about 6" then it connects to the copper tube) but it doesn't come out to the outside of the house. I tested a day before and it comes out a little bit at some point.
I am guessing the pump is not strong enough to push it through the 7' or 7.5' going up to the attic but not sure if it was a partial clogged coil or the pump itself. One would think that the coil is new when they install the whole brand new system including duct and duct registers.

It's the pump, for sure. I have replaced so many of these that are between 1-5 years old its pathetic.

WE USE THOSE ALL THE TIME WITH NO ISSUES. NOTHING WRONG WITH THE PUMP! IT IS WORKING TO HARD TO PUMP THROUGH A RESTRICTED HOSE AND FAILING! WHEN YOU INSTALL A NEW PUMP YOU PUT IN A NEW HOSE!

    • @ADVANHVAC
      @ADVANHVAC  8 місяців тому

I have installed 100’s of these and with in the last year 1/2 have several fail. Most of them have new hose with no restrictions. And if there is nothing wrong with the hose why replace it? That makes no sense. The only time I replace the hose if it’s got shit in it or it’s bad.
