I love it when I top player gets a budget guitar and gives everyone inspiration by showing that you don't need to spend thousands to get that tone. If you practice enough you can get a guitar to sing. Huge respect, Tomo is immense
The terrible truth for expensive guitar makers is that the average guitarist is as well-served by something like this as something that costs several times as much. I have a couple of their guitars and I have NEVER been disappointed.

Can’t wait to see what I get when I sign up for your class when I’m done writing; which looks like now. Thanks!
Tomo, thanks for not being a guitar snob, I bought a Donner Thinline Tele w/ two humbuckers, $150 delivered, it is beautiful TSB and the pickups sound better than the Fender full range pups, it seems that all of my inexpensive or beater guitars sound and play nicer than the spendy ones, my favorite is a 1990s Peavey Predator with Jay Turser Jaguar p/ups (!!!!), cost me $80 fifteen years ago. playability and tone are all that matters. I like your emerald city guitars t-shirt from my home town, Seattle. God bless you for all your work and best to you and yours in 2022.
I bought a semi-hollow Telecaster from these guys. I've got to say, the fit and finish are actually immaculate. I'm REALLY happy with it. Fantastic unplugged tone, fretwork is great, intonation is perfect, pickups are fine. I would have paid $300 and had no problem doing so. I plan on upgrading the nut to graphtech and calling it a day. My only complaint is that the fret profile is too small, I prefer more jumbo-style frets. But still, a $130 guitar that plays like a $400 guitar, that you can take on trips, let get banged up and stuff, and heaven forbid it gets stolen or something, you just buy another. Amazing value!
I just bought one of these in black. I am only using this over other bodies because the cavity size and cavity cover size. You can add a fishman universal 9v batteries for active pickups unlike other similar type bodies. I bought a new gloss black neck with matching cream binding, black Schaller import roller bridge and aluminum tailpiece. I ordered hipshot's Schaller style tuners with the UMP kit. Invader style 4c pickups 15/8k in full black with cts pots, tone pot is a cts push pull pot, black switchcraft switch, all black knobs for split shaft pots. cavity shielding paint and Gavitt cloth pot wiring with Gavitt shielded wiring for the jack. I bought all the plates and screws in black from True Custom Shop. The truss rod cover is a black metal no name bell shaped plate. I ordered a black Schaller strap lock, Puretone jack, Graph Tech nut, and black metal no name humbucker rings. Haven't received anything because i just ordered it all today but I'm hoping it all works out and sounds good. I really wanted fishman fluence pickups and add the universal 9v. Hoping to switch them out some time soon. This is my first guitar build. I ordered a laser level to help install the neck. Idk why no one sells blacked out guitars so I'm building my own. I am also fixing a old AXL-750 up in a similar fashion. AXL makes terrible guitars but I'm going to polish that turd to make a good sounding daily beater.

You’ll usually get decent tone out of a cheap guitar especially if the rest of your gear is good. They save the money on the build quality and they just won’t age in the same way as a properly priced one. Budget guitars with a good setup and a little play time and care to soften the neck and frets will suit most players’ needs.
Thank you! This time I use this amp, Fender Frontman 10G ($99) and a cheap pedal ($40) And this guitar is $159. This neck, pickups are so good! The back of the neck, the frets... pretty good! Not typical cheap guitar.
I watched this video with my 14yo daughter, whom I got a Squier Tele (Affinity) for Xmas. This was a great video to show her (and anyone) the sounds you can get out of a "cheap" guitar rig. She was also pretty impressed that an instructor from a respected music college would play a guitar rig that's on par with hers. Tomo, do you (or anyone reading this) know an alternate tuning that would be easy for her to use, as she only has real use of 3 fingers? She has camptodactyly and her pinky fingers are permanently curled, and another issue with her index finger being significantly shorter than her middle, making some chords harder. She's trying, though! Happy New Year, everyone!

Tomo, You could make a Daisy Rock played through a transistor radio sound great. Excellent presentation. I just bought one to take the neck off and throw it in checked luggage for an inexpensive travel guitar. Thank You
It's not that these guitars are cheap. It's that the "big names" are vastly overpriced. When the two main big names started out (you know which two big names I mean) they were giving their guitars away free to anyone who got on the TV or radio because they knew people would want a guitar with the same brand name on the headstock as their hero and buy that. These are NOT worth many hundreds or thousands of pounds at all. People are paying for the branding. These Donner guitars, I notice, are excellent and there's absolutely nothing inferior either in sound or looks with that beautiful Donner LP type.

Most people overlook the importance of a good amp. Cheap guitars sound cheap through a cheap starter amp, as they are designed for practice only. Cheap guitars sound way, way better through a decent amp. Always Invest in a good amp.

Great video as usual Mr. Fujita. Can you please explain why you want to your intonation slightly flat at the 12th fret? I have never been Informed or even heard of doing that. Thank you kind sir.

Love Emerald City Guitars (t-shirt)! I go there every so often to buy a slide or tuner and marvel at the guitars they have :)
You're very lucky!!
The distortion tone on Sparkle was great! As others have pointed out, a slight 70s Santana feel.
Thank you!!
What kind of metronome do you use? I like the way it sounds
Thank you! Vintage Frantz Metronome
That coin trick is a life hack .. Tomo Sensei
Thank you!
12:35 it seems a bit of surreal to hear the distortion and that kind of riffs from tomo sensei😂
Thank you so much! So great to hear that!
Brilliant! Oh, the guitar is nice too
Thank you!
Most people overlook the importance of a good amp. Cheap guitars sound cheap through a cheap starter amp, as they are designed for practice only. Cheap guitars sound way, way better through a decent amp. Always Invest in a good amp.
+ Most people overlook the importance of a good guitarist :-)
Thanks for sharing! Yes.Having a great amp... very important if you want to improve your guitar playing!
What...no Pignose?
I have one!
I got one to mod and experiment with! I'll need to sand some of the thickness off the neck, and I'm looking for a cheap but nice but cheap p90 set for it. Any suggestions?
This next is so great! These pickups are great! Did you try different pickup height? Huge different in TONE!
@@TomoFujitaMusic Thanks, I'll try that.
Really cool ...enjoyed it !
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice I did want to hear it in a cheaper amp
Great!
2:00 do you cover this blues jam in a lesson?
5:12 the coin trick is sweet!! A man full of guitar wisdom!
I have so many video lessons! You can search here! Thank you!
That's "R&B E Blues Funk Groove"
Nice tone
Thank you!
Hiii!!!
Thank you!
とても気に入りました。 彼の外見は彼の声と同じくらい美しい。 ギブソンケースギターはいつも私のお気に入りです。
ありがとうございます!

Great video as usual Mr. Fujita. Can you please explain why you want to your intonation slightly flat at the 12th fret? I have never been Informed or even heard of doing that.
Thank you kind sir.
That's my secret! Most people push the frets a little hard so this way it sounds much better! You're welcome!
That is great advice. I used to tune my guitar a little flat sometimes if I was going to play lead only for the entire gig. Never thought of doing that to the intonation.
Thank you kind sir.
Blessings
@@monstroguitars4550 You're welcome! I was in this R&B ...Blues band. Other guitar player & bass player they tunes their guitars right before the gig.... I kept tuning up with the pedal tuner during the gig. Toward end of that gig... I am a lighter higher than these guys and I sounded like out of tune!!
@@TomoFujitaMusic OH NO! Wow thats a lesson you learn on the road. Thanks for the tip.
Can you take a look at Sire guitars and basses? Merry Christmas from Norway.
Merry Christmas! If I have one.. possible.
@@TomoFujitaMusic That would be awesome, thank you for reply. I have the basses, but I want to start learning guitar and I'm thinking about staying with the brand.
@@Heivang You're welcome! Great!
@@TomoFujitaMusic I'm sorry if this comes as rude, but I tipped Sire about your channel. Would be dream come true if you and Kyle Kim would have chat on your channel about gear and music. I have nothing to do with them, I just see two great things that respectfully needs to be connect. If possible ofc. Take care Tomo.
@@Heivang Thanks so much! It's all good!
