Hi, guys. Welcome back to ChargerLAB.
I believe many people will find that the battery life of the old AirPods is getting worse and worse.
Today, we found a third-party Chinese company to show us how to replace the battery without damage.

iFixit: Non-removable battery, 0/10 repairability score.
ChargerLAB: Hold my beer…
I’m guessing iFixit is aware of this but doesn’t recommend the fine soldering work and risk of an average user overheating the battery too risky. You’d probably want to find the soldering gun, heat resistant tape and an infrared thermometer at the very least and most people would probably wing it with a hair dryer, posing a risk.
@@veccioI winged it with hot hands and a hairdryer and it worked great. Battery came right out. I also just clamped the AirPod into a small electronic clamp stand with magnifying glass and did the soldering. Thankfully though I have extremely fine soldering tips, that’s the most important part imo, oh and definitely take some anti convulsants and maybe a benzodiazepine so your hands don’t shake LOL one twitch and you’ll melt through the side of the AirPod haha
Best job I've seen done on these. Well played, Sir!
Hey! I really appreciate this video. I'm mentioning the AirPods batteries and I was wondering if I could use a few seconds of your footage in my story? I'm happy to credit you on-screen and link to your video in the description. Thank you - Cindy
Nice work. The fact these are so hard to repair and sold in such big numbers, most of which first gen are probably in landfill, is pretty depressing.
I definitely recommend zooming a bit for a clearer picture. It was kinda hard to see where you soldered, for example.
But nonetheless, excellent video!
Holy smokes this is amazing
Can’t believe it’s possible
Truly impressive work, as they say, where there’s a will, there’s a way
Great work
this is amazing!
Great video. Once my airpods batteries start to fail I'll be doing this
wow bro that's good job.
Amazing video, would you share the twezeer type ? and where to buy one ? . I've searched trough the internet but no success. Thanks a lot
Thanks for the video! I’ve been replacing batteries in phones, computers, and various other electronic devices for some time now, but the time has come for me to learn this delicate repair. I can’t bring myself to discard my 1st gen AirPods, as it feels like a waist with all other components besides the batteries being perfectly fine. Heat gun, patience, and probably more heat gun.
Is the flex that connects the bottom charging contacts and microphone integrated with the battery connector flex tabs? The battery tabs appear to “sandwich” it.
Very nice video, thanks very much!!!
Many thanks!
Where do those curved tweezers come from ? Thanks for the video
@ChargerLAB can you advise where the exact Bent (Curved) Tweezers as used in the video can be purchased.
You just bend them yourself
Very good, what type of glue did you use? Was it the same heat reactive glue that Apple used initially?
Would like to know this too. Glue in this repair is super important as it must be safe since these are in peoples ears for countless hours. Use wrong glue and risk giving someone cancer.
2:00 what's this cuved tweezer called? can't find it online
Hai, I would like to ask, if the cap bottom airpod was break up while pull out the battery, its still can work?
These are an improvement over the 1st gen buds. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxK5mc3yw4xA7Mf2j6k6n1Uqv_KUgrKdeM Pros: The fit is fantastic. This is the biggest plus. They stay in my ears when running and become unnoticeable. They are tight but comfortable. The sound quality is about the same as the 1st gen buds. They pair more easily with my LG G8 ThinQ and immediately reconnect when removed from the case. The sound balance is excellent, good but not overpowering base and clean mid tones and highs.Cons: The noise cancellation is good but perhaps a little less effective than the Bose ANC on the 1st gen buds. Passthrough mode as not as good as the 1st gen buds making it a little more difficult to hear conversations when in passthrough.
What is flux? Can you put a link of everything you used. Ty
What is the sprea name that you used to clean airpods
Now, if Apple actually cares about the environment they will open up replacement parts and tools to 3rd party repair shops and to individuals.
Good video though, glad too see this is still possible till Apple pairs a chip in the battery with the headphone unit similar to that of the iPhone batteries. Making replacements impossible.
Law should prevent companies like Apple from making products that cannot have batteries replaced easily. It is contributing to planetary destruction!
This year I was the last person to be re-gifted a set of Airpods that have apparently been circulating for 6 years. They are not taking a charge. With this guide I believe I can at least try to get them working.
excellent tutor, unfortunately not all user having special clamp specifically for certain item. unless they open repair shop. but I would say this is perfect when other says cant u said yes it can be repaired.
Edit: This is the original repair video, where they make their own clamp jig: ua-cam.com/video/pE9aB5aPbMM/v-deo.html
Just need to design one on a 3D printer. Otherwise, I'm sure you could put some soft material around a clamp. There doesn't seem to be a lot of pressure required to pull the battery out.
Super
a "fix the AirPods no hit run"? respect...
I want to replace my battery for my airpods left & right Whats the cost ..?
It's an awesome skill. Have you ever been unable to connect to Bluetooth after replacement? After I replaced it, I can't connect to Bluetooth...
Yes, your problem might because the solder joints are not properly connected.
Can I use hair dryer to remove glue and pull it out?
The heating temperature of hair dryer is not enough to remove the glue.
My airpods battery is dead, we are not getting battery here, so what should I do now, please tell me
Hit and miss, my left sides tiny ribbon cable was stuck or intentially glued to the body of the battery. Pulling oit the battery of course tore/ ripped this cable when pulling out the battery and was meant to be in the bin anyways.
new battery only 25map comparing with original 60map
Iv'e bought 2 and won't buy another. The adhesive doesn't last. And I'm not buying more adhesive rings. Not worth it! Great idea but still weak.
No thanks...I'll just buy a new pair 😂
Fax this is too much for no reason bruh
For real. Fuck all this. I replaced the battery in my digital Polaroid easily and I thought this process might be the same. Nope. Lmao.
@@ericalvarado1228almost like they make it hard for the end user so they can siphon more out of pocket your pocket. Right to repair
The design of these is lame. Battery should be more easily replaceable. Typical Apple.
😂😂
Heat not hit. Negative not negtive. Please improve your english.
