- Hundreds of millions of wireless earbuds are sold every year and Apple’s AirPods are the most popular. However, their batteries wear out after only a couple of years, and Apple doesn’t fix them or provide a method for you to do it yourself. This is a look at why AirPods are too hard to repair.
Let’s break open a pair of AirPods Pro second-generation with an expert from iFixit to discuss why the earbuds have such a short lifespan.

What issues have you had with your AirPods?
My AirPods Pro (1. Gen) which are now about 21 months old definitely have worsened in battery life, but are still going pretty strong in that regard, so I can’t complain, though I would like to get myself the 2. Gen
They don’t fit well, especially in my left ear.
Also, my corded headphones still work 10 years later. So much less trash.
In India even LED bulbs gets repaired in local markets. Airpods will also get repaired once Indian technicians will have hands on this. By Changing the rechargeable small battery, airpod will work again.
My dog ate the right one
They have called for environmental protection (don't include charger along with phone) and they intentionally have designed unrepairable earpods. It is ironic and ridiculous 😂
its good buisness modleing
This video would have been a lot more useful if repairability of airpods was compared with its competitors or possibly shed light on companies trying to address the issue, so that you can answer the question: is this problem inherent to wireless earbuds or just apple design?
Samsung Galaxy Buds got a pretty high Repairability score. So it's just Apple Evil thing.
Apple is notorious for making their products unrepairable. They even go out of their way to block parts for repair shops to aquire. The reason is profits, they want you to purchase new airpods. It is not hard to design a earbud that can have the battery replaced without the complete destruction of the product, they just choose not to.
These are an improvement over the 1st gen buds. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxK5mc3yw4xA7Mf2j6k6n1Uqv_KUgrKdeM Pros: The fit is fantastic. This is the biggest plus. They stay in my ears when running and become unnoticeable. They are tight but comfortable. The sound quality is about the same as the 1st gen buds. They pair more easily with my LG G8 ThinQ and immediately reconnect when removed from the case. The sound balance is excellent, good but not overpowering base and clean mid tones and highs.Cons: The noise cancellation is good but perhaps a little less effective than the Bose ANC on the 1st gen buds. Passthrough mode as not as good as the 1st gen buds making it a little more difficult to hear conversations when in passthrough.
No worries ppl. If your airpod not working, you can always buy another one for $199.99
That’s the whole point. Unlimited profit.
Great presentation!
You didn't need a 5 minute video to explain that it's because of the glue. Man.:(
it baffles me that this guy doesn't have more views and subscribers.. .
i tore that part off by accident tryna replace the ear tip piece lmaoo. i closed it back and it worked fine for months now it’s not working😭😭😂
Updating firmware battery works better
I somehow managed to break the plastic tip underneath the rubber tip on my airpod pro 1. Now I'm trying to figure out how to fix.... :(
Everything is repairable, well everything except for an apple users spine
Apple could design these with a replaceable cell. It is a design scheme.
Agree, there are other more complex things out there, that can be repaired. Airpods were just being designed that way.
THEY FIXED MY AIRPOD MAX
Only I phone I've owned was a free one.
the most ironic thing is that i’m watching this video with only a right airpod because the left speaker is busted
Nah. REWA has a tutorial on how to replace airpods.
Called Apple. Sent back my AirPods for repair.
They sent text that they received them and are being Be assessed. One minute later they said they have been repaired and a few minutes later another text saying they have been shipped out. So waiting to see if they repaired in less than a minute or did they replace 😂
What was it finally?
That's the same reason I don't buy them in first place as they cannot be repaires at all.
It's all about money, money, money. They want you to continue to buy, buy, buy..😂
I can promote your channel
Bro go watch some chinese repair guys. They’re doing it since 2021. And now even i am doing the repairs
Im not expert at repair thing, i just replace battery for my airpods 2 yesterday, just with hand solder and heat gun.... well ifixit sucks
Wtf is boat?
Uggh
Wow! a bud light vibe.
Lmao
Huh?
You guys are so soft and sweet with apple you might just as well be one company 🥴🤢
GG
Right to repair should be a real thing. Once we pay for something we should feel like owners and not renters.
Sad that Apple went from imagining what could be to consumers driving the demand for products
It's cheaper to send you $5 headphones than to hire someone to fix them when you buy them for $100😅 fools
