Lenny is such a sincere humble guy. Love him mountains!
Life is short,do the best you can.Last words touched me
Prince was great and Lenny is underrated!
Agreed
yes, that is so true.
+Jay Brown It's funny you mentioned that because when Lenny came out and when he was at his "height", everybody pretty much compared Lenny to Jimi Hendrix and Prince.
funny, I always considered Lenny as overrated, to be honest.
Me too, me too.
7:17 Kravitz is a Rock Icon in his own right. His music is priceless.
I'd say Prince definitely fulfilled his purpose. I wish he'd lived until old aged, he had so much more to give. But I guess the universe has other plans.
@ijcn0jir3nvjn3fjcifn don't compare that freak to mozart.
Marty Martin go fuck yourself! You dont know what you are talking about😡
I agree. I just kind of wished he wouldn't have done so much damage to his body doing it. He pushed himself and gave it his all. Which is great, but can sometimes be a bad thing too. He and Michael pushed themselves too far. Having said that, I'm still glad they were able to accomplish all they accomplished.
Had he lived on I believe that Prince would have become the Duke Ellington of the 21st century. Always dressed to to the hilt and still making music.

Lenny surprised me. Very nice, smart and humble words from him. love the part ,,You gotta live your life. You gotta do the best you can. I wanna fulfill my purpose. I wanna be the me I was created to be and try not to comprise too much, stick to who I am and what I believe in.'' What a really wise, deep, introspective and humble words and attitude!👏
In addition to this amazing interview, I love the fact that Lenny has a tattoo of his mother, Roxie Roker from 'The Jeffersons' on his arm.
I was riding my Bicycle in New York..and Lenny Kravitz was walking down the street...back when he had his dreads...wow he was so gorgeous...
Still is absolutely gorgeous 😍🥰
Lenny love your singing. There isn't a day I don't think about Prince. He definitely a head of his time.
Prince and David Bowie, are the kinda of great legends,we will Never see their like again, totally iconoclastic ...❤️❤️❤️💕💕👏👏👏👏👏👏💖...Lenny Kravitz, what a beautiful guy,and wonderful musician ❤️❤️👍👍
I know you'll do an amazing tribute to Prince, Lenny. I can see you tearing up _Lady Cab Driver_. I really hope you do that one or something from _Purple Rain_.
+LaCheleWallace you mean Mr Cab driver
Marcus Morgan You mean to quit being so eager to correct somebody. Re-read what I wrote originally. Obviously you don't know Prince's music. _Lady Cab Driver_ is a Prince song and I think he'd do it justice. That's why I said "I know you'll do an amazing Prince tribute, Lenny."
My mistake...god damn calm down, not that big a deal...
Marcus Morgan No, I'm just lettin' you know. And don't do too much.
+Marcus Morgan lol@ correcting someone with the wrong answer.
For You is the debut studio album by Prince. It was released on April 7th, 1978 by Warner Bros. It was recorded two months shy of Prince's twentieth birthday. The album "Prince" was his second album in 1979! "Controversy" is the fourth studio album by Prince- it was released on October 14th, 1981.
+AndreaElizabeth100 "For You" is a good debut album.
I love you Lenny....!!!!!
for you is the first album
great, touching interview and memoriam. Thanx, Jonesy. You continue to rock.
Thank you for uploading.
His voice. Omg
There’s a longer version of this where Lenny talks about the time he & Prince went & visited Michael Jackson in the recording studio. I’d love to see that extra part of this conversation again.
Hey Lenny, the first album was FOR YOU 1978. OK?
It's funny they brought up ping pong because there was a story of how Prince and Michael Jackson had some pretty intense ping pong matches and of how Prince made it a point to never let Michael win.
+Skip: Not that I know of. But apparently they had spent alot of time together and played ping pong and pool. They were closer than people realize but both those guys were very private so it makes sense that they weren't public about thier friendship.
Prince and Michael both, were real tight with their private lifes.what do we know about either on a personal level, not to much. and THANK GOD no one is doing a lot of talking now. what ever, let them keep their private lives now. they're gone, they shared with the world their artistic genius.
Way2 Go Princesy!!! #TeamPurpleNEVERLoses
Prince first album is For You, Prince is second.
Lenny is so on point... The Royal Prince 4EvEr O(+>
Wish you the best health Lenny..

Anyone else notice that beautiful tattoo of Prince on Lenny Kravitz ' right forearm! ! You could really tell that Lenny loved & respected Prince in every way! ! Prince will so truly be missed! ! May he continue to rest with the Lord along with all of the other beautiful souls!!
+Glory Mosby I thought it was his mom. You sure it's Prince?
+Glory Mosby Confirming that is indeed a tat of his mother.
+ortem000 Thanks for clearing that up.
ortem000 : Oh, my mistake! ! Beautiful tattoo nonetheless! !
+Glory Mosby No worries! It does kind of resemble Prince, though. And I echo your earlier sentiments, which were lovely.
Do you guys know the interviewer is Steve Jones from the Sex Pistols?
its amazing how lenny who knows him wink wink didnt know his first album
"I have some ideas but I can't say anything"...Yeah..."I think I know what your talking about..."
ilovemytribe what do you think about? Thoughts?
ilovemytribe I would love to know what was going on. No one wants to speak the truth.
Amp Fiddler was the real deal
He had so pain......
Is that a Prince tattoo on Lenny's arm? Forgive me if I am wrong.
Man......
How are they going to end with Jimi Hendrix and not Prince?
Lenny Kravitz is a good man.
Bob Marley, Lenny Kravitz, Prince & Michael. My musical heroes. Sigh. RIP Prince
+Shilo M Evans I agree...well said.
Shilo M Evans impressive
@divinelightshine and why do you feel it necessary to address me? Go kick rocks somewhere
MJ is crap.
Lenny Kravitz should do a tribute for Prince, NOT Madonna!!
That would be great.
you are so right on that
Okay, so you hate Madonna. Congratulations.
@@theoriginalthinker9199 everyone hates Madonna you should hate her to maybe everyone would congrats you to
@@thepromiseman7745 Everyone doesn't hate Madonna, and you should stfu!
Sexy voice, Respectful of prince privacy
Yes his voice drives any woman crazy!🥵😱🔥
I always felt that Prince was his biggest influence, even before Lenny said so.
He said he was .. his stage name was romeo blue.. had the hair like him in the 80's
Prince, Lennon and Sly Stone I think. And Hendrix.
luv him i respect him for not telling prince business
+Stella Bell well............I didn't like that he said he had some ideas but couldn't speak on it............he should have said I don't know.
Who asks an opening question about an awesome musician to an awesome musician re chem trails? Who? This guy.
@@BlueLatte-f3f I know, that was weird.
PRINCE was a spiritual person... when you walk in faith, you know that you're not here to stay, you're just passing through. when you're in the spotlight like that, people tend to forget you're just flesh and blood. PRINCE didn't forget that. everyone days are numbered. journey well PRINCE! him with his creative genius made this world a better place, and he left a lasting legacy that will live on until the end of time. JOB WELL DONE 👏 RIP
"DID U TAKE, OR DID U GIVE?"
A wise man beyond his years in so many ways. He blessed us with such gifts it kinda blows my mind. I'm sad he's passed on, but that's all on me to work through - because deep down I know he's happy to have finally entered The Garden, and we should take comfort in that, his artistic integrity that will influence generations of musicians and the legacy he has left behind.
What a wonderful life.
Lenny was very chill and shares Prince on a personal level that is heart warming.
Great interview!! Lenny is the man humble and real AF!
Love Lenny
I love Lenny Kravitz he is rock and roll to the bone! I love Prince and he is my favorite rock star of all time and I was heart broken when he died also love David Bowie was sad when he died! I feel the same way all the greats are leaving us!
I was blessed to see Prince live my Senior year in High School on New Years Eve 84-85 the Purple Rain Tour. Still have the Tshirt. Awesome music and awesome memories, timeless.
I saw Lenny and Prince live in 1998 main show and aftershow. Remember Prince yelling at Lenny....We're playing in E !! lol
😂😂😂😂
I can see that..LOL!!..He definitely had the magic and the ear...what a lost to the music world.
LOL!!
That MUST have been the shit. Saw Lenny for the first time this weekend in Toronto. What. A. Show.
Shit. I'm still high 2 days later.
Whistler4u p
Yes.. That was absolutely a tattoo of Lenny's mom Roxie Roker on his forearm. Not Prince
+Will Harris crazy how they look like each other, that is wild
I used to love that show 'The Jeffersons' and his mom was Helen on that show. She was so talented and so is Lenny. I was glad to hear him talk about Prince. Prince and Lenny had a lot of admiration for each other, i think. Lenny is so handsome, as well. haha
Gave this a Thumbs Up for Kravitz' words. Very nice. I relate. cry
thank you, Mr. Kravitz, for handling the question about the emergency plane landing very respectfully and tactfully .
Absolutely…
Bowie and Prince - the influences are so clear once he owns them - like all greats they all stole and gave and 'got' from other greats - the genius aspects that blow us all away - especially those truly 'complete musicians' who not only played everything but literally excelled at every aspect of their performance art.
Modern music certainly today a multi sensory experience - with sound firmly at the center but, as especially Pink Floyd first proved beyond any doubt, all the senses matter! These guys knew it and took it upon themselves to write, stage and produce - then put together and lead a live performance band they made sure 'got it and could get it on' like they did who they sang, danced and played with in an often perfect 'lost in the moment originality' that could get lost in the spirit but never lost the essence of the song or why that crowd was there and was theirs - they reliably played music so good, so seriously hot - and when they were really on, look out. Whew. Right up there with the best things in life!
So thankful for that kind of pure genius showmanship - from Prince, Lenny, David Gilmour, McCartney, Stevie Wonder - so so so many others.
Thanks to video my appreciation of Prince has increased infinitely just in the past week. Truly one of the most interesting men in the world - always.
Noora Youssef Khalil 💜 YOU Noora, Sure said that correctly, with out a doubt. As they already are all making money from his death, how shameful... The way they have been exsploylting him. I think some of the world has gone crazy, nuts with everything that has been said & going on. I cannot believe it... How can people go to sleep at night with all the lies they tell....
💜 BLESSINGS 💜
I love Lenny...I love Prince....Life goes on, yes...but some people leave some undeniable prints in your heart and life when they transform and move to the another world...... Just like Lenny says...you never think they gonna go. Prince was ageless indeed....and when they do.......it's hard to believe. I hope Lenny stay still for a long tome with us...
Lenny is a gem! Rock and Roll Hall of Fame asap!!!
It’s Coming. Give it a little more Time!
Lenny truly loved Prince ...i saw them together in Utrecht ...when he annouced lenny the crowd went crazy ....
Kind of surprised that Lenny is so together if this is the actual day Prince passed. I thought they were pretty close friends. I would think he’d be too upset to talk about his buddy. He’d still be in shock.
That tattoo on his arm is NOT Prince, it's Lenny's mother, actress Roxie Roker.
Lenny was very close with his mother. Her death hit him hard, you can hear it in his music
She played Helen willis on the Jefferson's
l wish Lenny did old school badass rock n roll again. He was sooo good
RIP Prince!
Great to hear him mentionning Todd Rundgren along with Prince or Stevie Wonder. Or McCartney.
Stevie Wonder the pure genius of music and can play every instrument like prince did I’m still in shock that Stevie can play the crap out of drums like it is astonishing!
For You was the first album.
I think Lenny knew that. But you know, sometimes when you are talking about something and you're still in shock, I mean, you can get things mixed up a little.
great ALBUM
For You
Prince
Dirty Mind
Controversy
1999
Purple Rain
And so on
"Is he just like a regular guy?, not with a house both in Spain and Paris he ain't.
true DAT...I'm a regular guy poor eating beans and rice and beating off sometimes....PRINCE not regular guy...
Word.
Lenny has gone on record saying that Prince was THE artist that made him want to pursue music professionally.
I could listen to them talk about Prince all day. Thanks dudes, very comforting.
Lenny seems like a real nice, down to earth, guy--I love him!
Derek and Clive arent as funny as they used to be.
I know that tatto is of his mother but that tattoo looks a lot like Prince
tell me something, is that the beach scene from that movie, out of BRAZIL? i can't think of the name of it, but they did a documentary of the actors in the movie, and it was ten years later. i think that actress BRAGA was in it, i can't think of her name either.
+JAZZY DJ it is! City of God
thank you.
So true. Thanks Lenny. He was ageless.
'You never think they're gonna go..' exactly.. :(
Such heart ache to loose Bowie and Prince. I do not know how Lenny held it together talking about Bowie and Prince. He is so centered.
Guys, first album was "For You"... come on....
the tattoo on lennys arm is his mom not prince, looks like prince at first but isn't
+Tara LS Roxie Roker from the Jeffersons.
6soulcontrol yup his mom lol
nope, it's his exwife Lisa Bonet'.
It's his Mom.
@@jazzydj6051 lol
Lots of love for Lenny and I hope we see more acting. I was glad he and Prince performed together.
Beautiful soul speaking about one of the most beautiful souls. 💜☔💜🌂💜
Lenny is smoother than silk,.. and could listen to that cat go on all day. Period.
He got Prince's first albums mixed up though. For you was his first album and Prince was his second album. I miss my beautiful Princey though. Lenny is hot as fuck as well.
A Good Interview About Prince Also Enjoyed When The Played American Woman Together!
Great interview.
"Would you say he was a genius?" - WTF????
Is that Steve Jones from the Sex Pistols???
Yes he is :)
been dreaming of Mr. Nelson regularly. roaming around the planes i see
giving fashion advice lol
God blessed Prince on earth prince blessed us with his talents let not your
heart be troubled: u believe in God, believe in his son in our Father's house💜

Talk about Prince for 10 mins then end it with Hendrix, lol. Was expecting a track from the man himself!
+sarah c Jonesy has a kinda weird playlist... but it sort of makes sense to play some Hendrix... Hendrix influenced Prince...
yeah I get that, I just thought they'd end with him. I've never heard of Jonesy, I guess he's on an American station?
"Jonesy" is former Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones... he's been hosting his U.S. radio show for about 10 years now... I think he's based in L.A...
I feel a total twat now being from England! I'm not into punk though and that being the case I only hear of Jonny Rotton (coz he died) and Sid Vicious (cause he does butter ads)
Thanks btw
Lenny is just such a smart and grounded man!
... you can hear Lenny wheezing on the mic ... quit the cigs
I think you'll find that's Steve wheezing away like a trooper.
Stop Chemtrails!

I know my heart will never be the same I met him only once I was a little girl
How cool. Where/how did you meet him?
Love Lenny, he and Prince go way back. I can feel his pain.RIP PRINCE!!!
The lady in the background taking pics is distracting.
So people close to Prince probably weren't shocked he died. From Lenny's answer, it seems those close to him knew he was sick.
+milkandhoney84 sick from what tho?
+prince atom Guess we'll find out when they get the toxicology back. But seeing as he was Jehovah's Witness, there were a lot of medical treatments he would not have been allowed. He said himself in an interview this life is not the end.....and not to fight so hard for it as to miss out on what's to come.
Many other have made comments making me think he had other issues going on beside joint pain. He was almost 60 we can only hope he spent his last days doing what he loved and enjoying himself.
I admire this guy so much. He has chops but he plays his guitar like a songwriter. That’s how I want to play.
This is why I love Lenny K too!
Never knew Steve did this radio show, great interview with Lenny..
I like how the interviewer got right into the questions👍
love lenny also!
💓😻💖❤️😘LOVE YOU LENNY💋😱😛✨🌟YOU ARE MY STAR✌️
Hendrix, Prince, Kravitz for those who thought men of color couldn’t play rock music and that only white men could only make rock music these 3 icons proved them all wrong! R.I.P. Jimi & Prince
You know even before the men you mentioned in your comment there was Chuck Berry, who actually preformed more in a Rockabilly style, but recorded rock and roll as well. Also, check out The Band of Gypses. The lineup of the group included Hendrix, Billy Cox on bass( who served in the Army with Hendrix) and Buddy Miles on drums. They only recorded one album together but made history as the first all Black rock band.
Lenny will you marry me?....we dive deep in nature,...REST IN POWER MY PRINCE.
Lenny, you have a friend. Looking forward to coming to your island. :)
I think Kravitz is loved and not underrated at all
Jonesy totally extended to the "hello" story about Prince to make it more LOL Lenny is totally relevant due to Prince. great talent.
Musicians as a whole, probably have the best attitudes on life out of all of us ...
Sad. Over use of pain medication indicates try natural therapies. Rest In Peace, Prince. Dedicated musical genius. Great loss. I saw him in concert M & P about 10 weeks ago.
