At the beginning, he said he had it memorized by heart bc it's a weekend go to. Then he forgot an ingredient. Also said he was a little rusty at making them... bc they were burning lol. Can't say anything bad about his recipes, though.
I made your pancake recipe yesterday and I wanted to say they were amazing. The best pancakes I have ever had on my 64 years of life. Thanks for sharing. Laurie Colorado Springs Colorado
dry ingredients: 1 1/3 flour (160g) 1 tablespoon of baking powder 1/2 teaspoon of salt 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar wet ingredients 1 cup of whole milk 4 tablespoons or quarter cup butter melted 1 large egg 2 teaspoons of vainilla mix: wet ingredients & dry ingredients
I saw this yesterday and this morning came back to make them for breakfast. I know anything you make is good, you're my go to foodie. I just love you, you're so personable....ya, I could be your mom, looking at 60 this year! I'll have to find a good cake recipe to make myself.....After breakfast, I know you have at least one.🥰🤩
Gotta love pancake recipes! My mom spent years perfecting her own recipe and perfection it is! Her making them for our birthdays have always been extremely special, favorite toppings are syrup and butter or strawberry mixture and whipped cream! ❤
I’ve been making pancakes from scratch for a long time and this is the absolute best recipe! I doubled it and added 1/2 t baking soda. I needed to use up some half & half so I used that in place of milk. This will now be my go to for pancakes. Thank you for sharing!
Very nice. I've been making this recipe for decades, it is very close to the version in the venerable "Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook" (with the red plaid cover) from my 1950s childhood. The big change in this version -- that I can't wait to try -- is using melted butter instead of vegetable oil. Awesome! One other note, as per the BHG cookbook and my own experience, is that you can cut the baking powder a bit, add some baking soda, and then use buttermilk instead of whole milk. Yum! The result is an even richer and more delicious stack of pancakes. A final note about eating these marvelous pancakes. Put a tab of butter in the middle of each pancake in the stack in addition to the top. ALWAYS use real maple syrup, lightly warmed. I've always loved to first eat around the edges, leaving the yummy center for last. Then the real treat -- the buttery center portions, all by themselves. During blueberry season here in New England, a few plump blueberries dropped into each cake just after it hits the skillet will be nicely cooked by the time the pancakes are done. Thanks for featuring this delicious breakfast classic.
I'm making this pancake recipe rn, I'm just cooking them now, and I tried one, and I've gotta say that they taste pretty good. I whoelheartedly trust every recipe you make, I love the clear instruction, no music, real time videos. Thank you for being a wonderful cook, guide, parent, and friend.
I just tried this Recipe and let the batter sit for 30-60min. These were AMAZING. I tried a bunch of other UA-cam recipes (tasty etc) but this is definitely the best and easiest. I would be proud to serve these to anyone
It's almost 4am and I couldn't resist to make this recipe! I just did it came ABSOLUTELY fluffy and delicious! Thank you so much! You are the best CHEFF ever!❤
Hey John, I made these pancakes this weekend and OH MY GOSH, my husband and I both agreed that they were the best pancakes we have had in years. This recipe is super simple and delicious and I will definitely make them again. Thank you so much for sharing all of your amazing recipes and videos!!!
My mother’s buttermilk pancake recipe is the best. I agree it’s always worth it to make them fresh and homemade. If we want blueberries or chocolate chips, we just sprinkle onto the pancakes while they cook.
My 9-year-old daughter and I made this recipe tonight, and once we bit into them, she said, "Mommy, this is the ONLY way we should ever make pancakes from now on!"
I agree thank you for not editing because it shows us what to do when that happens in our kitchen. I know that whatever you cook is going to be fantastic!
Looks delicious and easy to make as well. I noted that you added wet to dry, instead of dry to wet. Unusual. Adding dry to wet prevents dry ingredients getting stuck to the bottom of the bowl.
Hi... So long I didn't comment. My go to pancakes are one of your recipes it does have around 5 years I think. They are awesome! The best 🥞 I ever made.
Buttermilk instead of regular milk makes pancakes super moist! To compensate for the thickness of the buttermilk means adding more than what’s called for with milk. Also excellent waffle recipe. I’ve been making fresh buttermilk pancakes for over 30 yrs. The best! Try it John. Oh and real maple syrup is the only way!
I tried this recipe today, and I really really really enjoyed it😊 I wish I can send pictures in this comment section, and mine didn't get burnt This is a perfect recipe ❤❤
I have searched for a recipe like this for yearssss. I wanted a homemade recipe that was as tasty and fluffy as boxed pancake mix but it was impossible to find. I tried dozens of recipes across youtube and this morning I took a chance and tried this one. I can safely say i have found my go-to recipe for life. I couldnt believe it actually tastes like Betty Crocker pancake mix and it made my entire day! Thank you!
I use cast iron to fry pancakes in. It gives a very crispy edge. Also about the first pancake always getting burnt, I set the temp a little low while it preheating. On our current stove I cook at around 3.5 but only preheat at 3 then turn it up as the first pancakes are going on. An empty pan seems to overheat until something is actually cooking on it. Terry
I always make an extra batch, freeze or refrigerate. Then I just pop in the the toaster for quick morning breakfast. I like them better reheated in toaster than microwaved.
It's official my new favorite Preppy Kitchen moment (replacing "mega cake pop"- if you know you know) is Ghost. I laughed out loud. Thanks, John. Awesome recipe, as always!
This is now my favorite video from you due to the ghost. I believe that humor is one of the most important spices to the recipe of life and that touch was perfection.
I also love that too. It's great to see what can go wrong in a recipe so you don't have to be concerned about yours. Love all recipes on this channel. Easy and simple yet so delicious!
2:45 if I only tap the egg on the counter once, I'm more than likely to get shells in my bowl. I find 3 taps (tap, rotate, tap, rotate, tap) gives an easier break, which leads to hardly ever any shells in the bowl... especially with home grown eggs. 💖🌞🌵😷
i like a little brown sugar in mine. sometimes i use greek yogurt and water or lemon juice and milk to make a butter milk. i put a dash of b soda in too. i also like to beat my eggs like crazy. foamy. ive actually separated my whites and whipped them to peaks before. that was for gluten free b powder free pancakes. (i sometimes blend milk with spinach to make healthy green pancakes and top with applesauce, yogurt, berries, and pecams) and i mix it a little thin and let it sit for 10 min and the flour really soaks in to thicken.
I love pancakes and making pancakes. I was heavily drooling over this lovely set. Two recommendations: save your bacon grease to use for cooking the pancakes in... and instead of syrup, dust lightly with powdered sugar and squeeze fresh lemon juice onto the plated pancakes.
@@really49 sis i tried it with baking powder test and its bubbles but yet my pancake still stiff. But actually tried his pancake recipe yesterday and I thought my ratio is wrong 😂 . I tried it again and his recipe works
I have always made my pancakes from scratch. I add a quarter to half cup of sour cream to the batter, makes a very tender batter. Also cinnamon is a must .
Thank you so much, I made my first pancakes at 2am today and I had the time of my life, I think they fairly came out well, but I'm going to do the recipe again and many more 😊
I was wondering what to make for my son when he comes back from school today and i am making this, as an evening snack not breakfast 😅. Thank you John.
Wow, Yummy I can't wait to try this and I will try to put the heat to a lower setting cause the same thing happens always a little too dark on the one side.
Those copper pans get sooo hot .....I always have to remind myself to turn the heat down when cooking with those!! They are nothing like cooking with regular pans! John, your pancakes look super AMAZING!!! 🙂 Thinking of making those for DINNER!!! YUMMY!!!

i really suggest when making a larger batch you measure out the wet and dries and mix when the first batch is almost done cooking. because over mixing will definitely change the texture.
